My local Walmart had none of the Lionsgate sets, however they did put out one of those 7 dollar blu-ray bins and surprisingly had all of the Resident Evil steelbooks in them.

I was at WM tonite, and saw an endcap that really excited me. A ton of WWE dvds, dirt cheap!

These are two packs priced at $10.00. Most of them had contained a wrestlemania released packaged with a PPV dvd.

I snagged the following:

WM 21/John Cena Word Life
WWE Highest Flyers/ The Bash 2009
WM 25 3 disc/Backlash 2009
WM XIX/Brock Lesnar
WWE Saturday Night Main/Shawn Michaels My Journey

They had a ton of other releases including Rise and Fall of WCW and DX. Pretty much every WM release in the last 10 years.

Five bucks each is a sweet deal!

I got the Rise and Fall of WCW/Ricky Steamboat: The Life Story of the Dragon. I probably should have grabbed Saturday Night's Main Event/Shawn Michaels and Randy Savage Ultimate Collection/WM III, but maybe I'll grab them later.

The Lionsgate 8 packs have finally started showing up in my area. No sign of the Blood Diner or C.H.U.D. II sets (which were the ones I wanted most), but I did find the After Dark Horror Fest III set and the one with Children of the Living Dead. I assumed it would be 8 movies crammed onto two double-sided discs. Instead, it's 8 movies crammed onto two single-sided discs! Still, it was nice to find something after last week's wasted trip.

The After Dark sets looks fairly good, all things considered. The picture is a tad soft and there is noticeable compression, but it's nothing compared to the hatchet jobs put out by Mill Creek in their multi-feature sets. All the films are anamorphic. The Children of the Living Dead set fares worse. That particular film looks like a widescreen transfer was squeezed to make it fullscreen. I guess you could adjust your display setting to stretch it out to a more correct ratio, but it still kind of sucks. Six of the other films are all fullscreen, which appears to be the correct ratio. Only the last film (Creepy Crawlers) is anamorphic widescreen.

Also bought Winter's Bone on BD for $5.

I just found the Action Volume 2 8 Pack with Blown Away, Turbulence 2 and 3 etc. at the Morse Rd Columbus, OH Walmart. They didn't have any of the other sets however.

Still looking for the CHUD 2 8 pack, Blood Diner 6 pack and the ReAnimator/ROTLD 6 pack

Checking another Walmart tomorrow, if not I may purchase these sets from Amazon.

Managed to track down two the RE steelbooks, so that's a plus. Still no sign of the Chopping Mall or Blood Diner sets though. May have to try a few stores on the east side of Columbus this weekend.

I wonder if "Chopping Mall" carries over the extras. I have that DVD; commentary, making-of featurette and gallery.

The answer to that would be a resounding "no." In fact, the main menus of both discs each feature four films with the word "PLAY" under each. Click on it, and that's what it does. Play. The end. For most, chapter stops are every ten minutes or so, with no seeming regard for where in the movie the stops were placed.

I don't want to sound negative, however, because, well, it IS eight movies for five bucks. I can deal with no features for less than seventy cents per movie.

I just returned from the Ke'eaumoku St. Walmart (Honolulu) and they had the Criterion DVD Tokyo Drifter for $19.96. Walmart is the absolute last place I'd ever have expected to find any Criterion DVDs, but ours in Hawaii have an Asian Cinema section which usually consists of 30-40 titles at any given time, so maybe there's more to come? Who knows.

I would probably take Hell in a Cell 2009/10. I recently did see some of these at a Wally I went to. Only picked up the Shawn Michaels/Saturday Night's Main Event one though. All of the WM's ones I have the WM disc, so not much point. I also saw a Steamboat/WCW one but sadly I have both the WCW packs (Nitro/Best of), so no dice there.

Check out Walmart.com. They have a lot of $5 WWE DVDs and you can do site-to-store to save on shipping. They don't have everything that is in the two packs for $5, but they have a lot of titles and it makes it easier to get what you want.

Is the Logan's Run series available at the Walmart stores?

Just wondering, because Meijer has it, but they want around $35 for it. And Amazon has it for less than $30.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Yes.

$29.99. Saw it yesterday, I'm thinking about picking it up later today.

My store only had two copies of "Logan's Run".

Got it ("Logan's Run").

And "North And South: The Complete Collection" for twenty bucks. I've been wanting this collection and I'm glad I picked up this 2011 re-release. I found out that the original 2004 title was a five disc box, this newer set is eight discs. Since the run time is the same, I'm gonna guess that the first pressing had some double sided discs. Interesting. Oh, all the DVDs are mint, same with Logan.

The re-release came with a two page booklet.

I hope this is as good as "The Blue & The Gray" (the first pressing, not the edited re-release).

Are these Lionsgate packs that contain 6 and 8 movies listed on Walmart's website?

Couldn't find the RE Steelbooks at the American Canyon, CA store.

The store had an endcap for maybe 15 of the $7.88 titles, but that is all I saw :(

Sorry that this isn't necessarily a bargain, but I felt compelled to share...

In Wal-mart today, I notice a cardboard display of DVDs with the heading at the top "Mom's Movie Night" - believe most of them were $5 and titles you'd expect in such a display. That is, until I noticed 2 of them were Fatal Attraction and Primal Fear. Seemed a little out of place as films mom would want to watch.

A few years back I saw for their Easter display, various spiritual and religious titles... and "Zack And Miri Make A Porno". I kid you not.
