Apparently, the movie is held in good regard. With Fuller and Marvin involved, I figured the disc was worth a $5.00 blind buy.

Was it the 2 disc set or the stripped down 1-disc version sometimes found at Big Lots for $3?

It's the one-disc, I think. I haven't opened it yet. I'll check and let you know.

ETA: Yep, the one disc version. Would have been nice to save two buck at Big Lots, but the BL nearest me closed years ago. Sad.

In the $5 bin I found the next 3 Puppet Master movies (3,4 & 5) all on one disc I think haven't opened it up yet.

I picked up a Midnight Horror Collection Puppet Master DVD @ Kmart (Puppet Master 1, 2, & 3) for $5 a few months ago, what I'd really like to see is this for $5:

The Midnight Horror Collection: Puppet Master V.2 with Puppet Master IV, V, and Curse Of The Puppet Master. -kd5-

They just piled up more dvds into it and it's so high now that it's a good foot or two above the edge. So now you can't even did through it to see if there is anything good without the pile falling onto the floor.

I did see some Paramount titles in there like Crocodile Dundee and Love Story.

Also saw a huge display of those Mill Creek 50 movie packs for $10 each. Ranging from Combat to Family to Sci-Fi movies.

The one near me is even worse, piled six stories high and having to thumb through everything just to try to find what i wanted and still no luck. Why can't they get that stuff organized properly? They even mix the English movies with Spanish movies and Cds on top of it.

I too can confirm that Puppet Master volume 2 has been seen as Wal-mart for $5 at my local Austin, TX stores.

I saw some new Paramount Triple Packs titled When Animals Strike Back for $13 each. Volume 1 has King Kong, Orca, and Congo. Volume 2 has Graveyard Shift, Silver Bullet, and Pet Sematary.

For fans of public domain collections Walmart has a bunch of Mill Creek 50 packs for $10, which is a good deal for these. At my local store they are in a special box display in the aisle. Mill Creek seems to have discontinued many of their 100 packs, so this might be a good way to catch up on some of the titles from those at an affordable price. I picked up the WARRIORS, COMBAT CLASSICS and SCI-FI sets.

Thanks for the tip, I might stop in and grab one. I bought the Pure Terror 50 movie pack a few months ago and loved it. I am still trying to save to get the 250 Horror pack.

Just be careful with buying the sets and getting duplicate titles. Mill Creek is notorious for re-releasing the same movies over and over again on different sets with different packaging.

For instance, I'm sure the 50 titles you already have on the PURE TERROR set are probably also on the 250 HORROR pack. Check reviews at Amazon as some of the reviewers there have done admirable research into the different variations of Mill Creek sets. It can be a maze, but I have wound up saving money by not buying the same movies over and over again due to some careful checking. Good luck and enjoy the sets. I love them too.

Well, now I don't have to wait for my Walmart to mark it down. I found it and the 2-disc G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra at Five Below today. It will be good to no longer have to check the price every time I go in there. Of course, I'll probably still check it every so often just to see if they have marked it down.

Earlier this week I saw Herbie Rides Again in the $5.00 bin at the Pella, IA Wal-Mart. I took it to a scanner and it really was $5.00. In the past, the $5.00 bin has had Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures releases, but Disney movies were there only by mistake.

Got an email from Walmart with an ad for $5 DVDs, looked through 2300 of them to find The Prophecy: Uprising and The Prophecy: Forsaken (for $5 ea.) to round out my Prophecy collection. I'd been wanting them for awhile but Amazon never went lower than $17.99 for them and there was no way in hell I was going to pay that. Glad I waited. -kd5-

are any of those any good? just out of curiosity. i have half a mind to pick it up anyway, just because i want prom night. 5 bucks for that isn't too bad at all. i've got a soft spot for 80s slashers (or a hidden shame.)

Below is a classy submarine ghost paranoia piece; written by Darren Aronofsky (or Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan fame).

I haven't seen it yet but Demonic Toys spawned a number of sequels. How can you go wrong with Evil Bong?

Would you share the $5 DVD link if it's still valid?

After scoring The Prophecy triple feature (first three) I lucked on these last 2 at a closing Blockbuster; it's crazy that they made 5 Prophecy films. This October I'm planning a Prophecy marathon [along with Children of the Corn].

The below is directed by David Twohy - who gave us the Arrival and Pitch Black. This was released right after the success of Pitch Black and got virtually no advertising, and only played to a limited # of theaters. One of the many mysteries of hollywood. A very good film, imho.

*nods*

I just wish we will get a better special edition for "Below".

The DVD has extras, true, but on the commentary, Twohy talks about these deleted scenes which are nowhere to be found on the disc. Gone is an entire subplot, Claire (Olivia Williams) having nightmarish visions.

It's true, the studio paid next for nill advertising. In fact the director himself paid for the movie's website; creation and hosting.

The first incarnation was a different WWII submarine film, a monster movie to be then called "Proteus". The crew of the sub encountered something in the deep - a giant amoeba type creature. Men get killed, vessel damanged and on top of that hunted by destroyers. Then Twohy took over the project. And re-did the script.

- - -

Looked at my archive. The then description...

During World War II the crew of an American submarine must outwit the menance of pursuing Nazi ships and submarines as well as a powerful creature from the bottom of the ocean.

Can you tell I'm a fan?

Does the Echo Bridge release carry over the 3 deleted scenes and "The Process" featurette from the original Dimension Films/Buena Vista 2003 DVD?

After a long drought of TV on DVD deals my local WM finally has brought them back.

On an end cap by the TV's they had the following series for $15 a season.

One Tree Hill
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Scrubs
South Park
Entourage
and a few others I can't remember right now.

No idea, Abintra.

I have yet to run into it at the store. In fact my store hasn't really updated their budget area in a while. But I suspect that will change since were coming to the Halloween season.

Did however see a few Halloween themed CDs already out. Basic, vanilla stuff. I would be impressed if they carried "Nox Arcana", "Midnight Syndicate" and/or "Virgil".
