Event Horizon is like a cross between Alien and Hellraiser.

My sister refuses to watch Event Horizon again. I only saw it once and remember thinking it was something I wouldn't ever want to buy but I don't remember why now. I simply have it listed under my "never buy" section. About the only image that remains is something about Sam Neill, bright red passageways, and something happening with somebody's eyeball. Maybe I'm confusing it with another movie.

Event Horizon is one of my favorite bizarre scifi/horror movies. If you can handle the nightmare, I'd say it's worth the $$$. -kd5-

I must also profess a strong affection towards Event Horizon.

Event Horizon was weird for me. The first time we (my family and I) saw it, we loved it. Scary as hell! The second time we saw it we all thought it was stupid. The third time we saw it we all thought it was awesome, but not scary. Ever since then I've loved it. It helps I'm a big fan of Lawrence Fishburne and Sam Neil. Under $10 is a good price.

Saw in *one* of the stores here:

"King of the Hill" S1/S2, S3/S4, S5/S6 2-packs for $19.95/ea.

S1/S2 are the original packaging, S3-S6 are the single amaray style packaging. Packaged back-to-back.

Apparently Walmart likes changing their discount DVD section around the middle of every month. The Boston Legal stuff is gone, swapped out with a few things from a few months ago like King of the Hill and the like.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

^That seems to be the case as the "King of Queens" S1/S2 and S3/S4 sets I purchased a few weeks ago are nowhere to be seen and have no shelf tag on empty rows. Looks like they are attempting to generate forced impulse purchases this way 'cause it truly might not be there tomorrow.

9-23-2010 at Lenoir City, TN Wal-Mart.

$5 Titles
Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Extreme DVD - WS *This included the Lenticular slipcase and was in mint condition freshly placed on top of the bargain bin.*
Galaxy Quest: Deluxe Edition - WS
The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen - FS *I wanted the WS but caved in since this is all they had. This is in an Eco-Box case ... I miss the gold / silver cases from the first release of this movie.*
Young Sherlock Holmes - WS *Even better than I remembered it! This has the original awesome cover, not that lame re-release cover with the magnifying glass on it.*
TMNT - WS *Included slipcase in mint condition as it too was freshly placed on top of the bin*
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Original Movie - WS *Included 25th anniversary slipcase also in mint condition as it was freshly placed on top of the bin.*

I was shocked to find three DVD's with slipcases in mint condition in a Wal-Mart bargain bin!

For what it's worth there is a new 4 Films Favorites set that includes all 4 Ninja Turtles movies, including the two you've mentioned (with bonus features), that can be had at Walmart for just around ten dollars. That is a much better deal.

The Blu-Ray version is $10 at Wal-Mart last time I looked, if you still wanted widescreen.

$5 Titles I picked up last night:
- Halloween 2-Disc Special Edition
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
- The Others 2-Disc Set
- What's New Scooby-Doo? Route Scary Six (contains 4 episodes)
- What's New Scooby-Doo? Ghosts on the Go (contains 4 episodes)

The first two were found on the end of the rack, with other Halloween "treats" - prices ranged from $5 to $13 ...

Wal-Mart has had the complete seasons of this for $9 in the past year. Don't know if they still have them.

Thanks, I haven't seen the complete seasons at my local Walmart. Luckily I haven't opened these 2 yet so I have 30 days to check a few stores for them.

BobO'Link 09-27-10 05:11 PM

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

^You have 90 days. From the WM web site:

"Generally, we accept returns within 90 days after purchase. There are a few exceptions, including the below examples but not limited to these examples, to the 90-day rule:

* Computer components and computer accessories must be returned within 45 days.
* Camcorders and digital cameras must be returned within 30 days.
* Computers and postpaid cell phones must be returned within 15 days.
* Prerecorded music, movies, and software products must be returned unopened."

So just make sure not to open and you have 90 days. If you make the purchase between Nov. 15 and Dec. 25 the return window does not start until Dec. 26 to allow for holiday purchases/returns.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I noticed LOTS of horror flicks at the Albany, NY Walmart. Most of them were thrown into the newly returned dump bin (which was overflowing!) but they had a bunch for $7.50 & $13 as well. I might go back to complete my Halloween & Friday the 13th collections, but I'll probably shop around to see if I can find 'em cheaper than $5 a piece for single discers.

I did pick these up, they were in the regular DVD section under $5 category:
- Super Mario Bros. (1993)
- Judge Dredd (Stallone, 1995)
- Father Hood (Swayze, 1993)

... and I am pretty sure about ...

Talespin Volume 1 and 2
Darkwing Duck Volume 1 and 2

How much of the cartoons do they collect? Are we talking whole seasons worth?

Sort of, in the standard length of a season, yes, these have around 25 episodes on them, but some of these shows had a season that lasted 60. Hence being called Volumes instead of Seasons.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Went to a local Walmart in Chandler, AZ tonight and found some great bargains. This location had two-packs of King of the Hill Seasons 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6; also American Dad! Volumes 3/4... All for $19.98 each! I don't like spending my money in Walmart, but these seasons are a great bargain and can't be passed up, so I bought the King of the Hill seasons 1-4 and the American Dad! volumes 3/4. Looking online and in other stores, the American Dad! DVD sets sell for between $30-40 apiece! What a bargain!
