Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Went to my Big Lots in Hudson, NY today... picked up:

The Wiz
Reality Bites (10th Anniversary Edition)
Bowfinger
Very Bad Things
The Sugarland Express (only copy I saw)

I saw many of the titles mentioned above, I will probably go back and pick up a few of the more common ones at my store next week.

Also if anyone is wondering, the UPC symbols are in tact, there's just a white sticker over the plastic on the back.

I live in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area. The one I go to is at 185th & TV Highway. I've been to the Mall 205 one, and you're right... it's not good. I think this local one has relatively low traffic and they hide the DVDs on a rack near the greeting cards lately. Still, they get picked clean within a week or two of a restock.

Finally got a new supply. Nothing different than what's already been posted with anywhere from 2-8 copies of each Sony title and mostly 1 each of the anime.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

My local store finally got a full DVD display. I think this is the first time this particular store has ever gotten the display. Usually they just have a small shelf of DVD's. I bought:

1941 CE (only copy I saw)
Bowfinger
Waking the Dead
Brick
DC Cab

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

The Big Lots in Orangevale, CA had quite a few of the already mentioned DVDs. I picked up River Wild, Wiz, Body and Soul, Roaring Twenties and a bunch of others. I'm pissed though, I opened up my copy of Norma Jean and Marilyn (purchased months ago) and it was sans DVD!

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

That's why I always open my DVDs right away, even if I won't have time to watch them for several years. (And I know there's still the chance of them being defective by then, but I've been lucky so far.)

If you have a receipt w/ HBO DVDs, you could probably just use that receipt. I'ts not like they scan the barcode.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Found Saraband starring Liv Ullmann and is directed by Ingmar Bergman. This is a followup to his 1973 movie "Scenes from a Marriage". His final movie he directed.

Still looking for:
Shattered Glass
The Girl in the Cafe
Elizabeth I

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

One of the two local Big Lots stores put out Universal 2-DVD sets today. Two titles packaged together for $6 total.

Some of the titles were....

the 2 "Babe" pictures
Rowan Atkinson's "Mr. Bean" and "Johnny English"
Tremors/Tremors 2
the first 2 "Mummy" pics with Brendan Fraser
"Ray" w/ Jamie Foxx and "The Hurricane" w/ Denzel Washington
"Animal House" and "The Blues Brothers"
"Virus" and "End of Days"
plus...some of the later "American Pie" direct-to-video releases.

I saw "They All Laughed" in only 2 stores with only one or two copies. If you can find it, there is a feature length audio commentary by director Peter Bogdonovich and an interview of Peter Bogdonovich with Wes Anderson.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I'm not sure about "Babe"...I'll check again today when I hit the store with actual cash.

Another 2-disc set I forgot to add above was "Undercover Brother" and "How High".

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I checked on the "Babe" 2-DVD set and couldn't see if the original film was the widescreen release or not.

Most of the titles are wrapped side-to-side but the "Babe Valu Pack" was wrapped front to back. Neither title had a "Widescreen Edition" on the cover and I was unable to see the rear on either DVD.

Other 2-DVD sets today that I noticed...

"The Producers" (N.Lane) / "Meet the Fockers"
"8 Mile" / "How High"

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Just a heads up for those that might have missed something at Big Lots, check out Wherehouse.com right now. They have a LOT of the titles that have been seen at Big Lot's for very close to the $3 price(using the 20% off and free shipping that's going on right now).

As an example, I missed Point of Origin with Ray Liota and John Leguizamo(okay, I had it in my hand and chose not to buy it and karma taught me a lesson when I went back to get it). Just picked it up, among other things, for $3.19 + tax + free shipping.
