My version of that email said 30% off one item, so maybe YMMV?

tofu 12-29-08 01:06 AM

I got the email saying its 30% off everything. It has a coupon at the bottom for 30% off one book.

This plus the Amex Wishlist $15 off $60 will be awesome! Exactly 50% off! If only I had one of those $5 off $5 coupons. :)

I used my Amex Wishlist $15 off $60 last Monday when they had the 40% off coupon. Picked up 'Coupling: The Complete Series' for a net price of $45. :)

Anyone try to stock up on those? They appeared to be giving them out with every purchase the day I got mine. I almost tried buying a $1 item to see if I got one, and if so, knowing myself, would have bought ten packs of gum in separate transactions.

Has this 30% promotion already started?

I checked the website and there's no mention of it yet.

Ad says in-store offer.

Any great deals with this one?

Has anyone tried to stack a $5 off $5 coupon with a 30% off coupon? I'm thinking it should work because it says only that it's not stackable with a "total purchase" coupon, which the 30% one is not.

surfingelectrod 12-29-08 06:24 PM

What the hell is with Tampa being excluded from the last few coupons? The only reason I ever shop at Borders is because of them!

not happy

ths sale is nuts. i wanted the adams chronicles. borders.com says list prie 51.99. online prie 47.99. so i got to the borders store but the dvd set there is 60 bucks! i told the manager that the website said list price was 51.99 (eith 30pct off it would be 35.00). they argued with me saying that they are charging more bc of shipping in store. does this sound right? ive seen items before on the website at lsit rpie, showed up in store with coupon and it was fine. am i being jipped?

In case anyone else is interested, I tried it, it worked.

The cashier justified it by saying that the codes were different.

For future reference: Use the web site to reserve the book at the store, then take in a printout to get the online price & use the coupon.

vvvvYMMV
(Even CC learned the folly of having multiple pricing models. Let's hope Borders comes to the same conclusion.)

The website clearly states "store prices may differ from those online," and print-out or not, we're not obligated (nor are we even supposed to) match what's shown online.

moreso, one is transaction, one is item.

Any 30% off coupons that do not require in-store purchase?

Through tomorrow (1/4) I believe all CD's and DVD's are 30% off at Borders with no limit.

they are, but only in-store. they were asking for a coupon for the website. with the price increase in-store compare to online, the 30% off works out to about 10-20% off.

True. But the 'List price' should not. Borders is VERY bad about not updating prices. Twice I'd had to argue with managers concerning a "Sale" price (with coupon) being higher than the current "List" price (yes, for the exact same barcode). Why I should have to argue that is beyond me. An experienced Manager should understand the situation and easily side with the customer. I spent 15 years managing a CD/DVD store, and we kept on top of price changes to avoid losing money with dead product. It would have been stupid to insist on selling a DVD for $19.98, when as of three months ago the list price was $11.98... Unless you're depending upon your customers being stupid or uninformed.

both seem to have codes for use on the website. But they also say "list price". Good luck.

Thank you. That second one worked nicely on a Blu-ray.

I subscribe to their e-mail newsletter, but never seem to get these coupons. Also, they are not easy to get to from their website without the direct link.
