Yes. That is one of the things that makes me wonder what the hell is going on at corporate. Checking the in-store inventory is one of the things that drives consumers at the store, because if they see something that they are interested in-stock, then they will go to the store. Right now, the nearest store from where I live is 1 hour, so I'm not going to drive to the store, just to check if they have something, I want to to know that they have in-stock before I go. Stupid idiots!

I really don't see much reason to actually visit a store anymore, even though I have 5 of them within 10 minutes of my home or office, other than to pick up an internet order. Their selection is shitty and their store inventory checker on the old site was shit. More often that not it wasn't even accurate. Might as well just use the coupons on the site and have them shipped to the store for free.

Thanks. I read on a Borders' employees forum that they were doing away with the 40% off coupons. These 30% off coupons appear to be as good as it's going to get from now on.

Hopefully, this won't happen until after the holiday season since they just had a 40% off CDs coupon. The way the economy is now, stores should be scrambling to get buyers any way they can...

I certainly hope that you are right. However, the last 40% off coupon that wasn't exclusive to books or CDs came out nearly two months ago. Given the sad financial state that Borders is currently in and the number of gift cards that I need to burn before they go under, I'm personally using each and every 30% coupon that comes out.
