Back to bargains: Zombieland and several other BDs were $9.99 when I walked thru Borders yesterday.

Selected Blu Rays at 50%
http://www.borders.com/online/store/...id=SL_20110111

Use coupon code FIFTYBLU at check out. Some decent selections. After tax and shipping, many still beat Amazon by a couple of bucks. For some reason they also have SD DVDs listed for the discount as well.

Someone help me out with the math here:

The Social Network [Blu-ray]
List Price: $31.99
On Sale for: $24.99

With the code FIFTYBLU the discount is $9.00 off /= 50% off either of those dollar amounts above.

What am I missing?

Edit: I just figured it out. 50% of $31.99 = $16.00. Since it was discounted $7 already, the $9 make it 50% off $31.99

That's such bullshit. Just when I think I actually find a decent Borders deal, they try and trick me.

There's no trick: Borders coupons discount are, and have been for ages, taken off list prices.

I have very little Borders experience, so it may be obvious to you, but not me.

My real point was the way they do the discount and word it. If you can't use a coupon on a sale price, then in the "total" column put the list price. Don't calculate the discount in a roundabout way. Say the discount is $16.00 and make the subtotal $31.99.

Depending on how you read it, it almost sounds like the discount itself is calculated off the list price, but doesn't necessarily imply that the subtotal (before discount) is the list price.

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

There are some good Criterion deals to be had with the coupons. As mentioned in this Barnes and Noble thread in the Blu-ray forum, there are some low Blu-ray prices but there are also some deals on SD Criterion. Here are a few titles priced at 17.97 before coupons and discounts:

Cronos
House
Antichrist
Pickup on South Street
Black Narcissus

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

Has anyone had any luck with back-ordered items shipping recently? I have 3 orders in right now. 2 have been on back-order for a week and the other is a pre-order for mid-Feb. Just wondering if any back-orders are coming back in stock.

I just had my Kagemusha BD ship. I ordered on 1/17 and it shipped 1/24. I think it showed a 2 week backorder when I ordered it.

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

I placed a pre-order on 12/17 for a 1/25 DVD release. It arrived in the retail stores on tuesday and on-line it states ships in 24 hours. But my order on-line say "backordered". Customer services says it has nothing to do with their financial problems, but they have no other explanation which seems to be a very common problem now.

Yes! I ordered Golgo 13 Collection 2 back around 1/4, and it was backordered when I placed the order. It was delivered 1/24.

Any 40% online codes out there? I've got $15 rewards cash to use and want to make sure I get the most out of it.

Anyone holding Borders gift cards or other forms of credit should probably use it/them as soon as possible. The company is pretty much circling the drain.

As a former employee, I'm surprised this company is still running on life support.

It's not 40% but here are 2 codes for 33% off:

BRK2376R
BPT9464J

I believe both expire tomorrow, 2/3/11.

Question: I have a $25 gift card and I use it for something that is $20. Will the remaining $5 be available immediately or only after the item is charged/shipped?

They charge your card immediately--not after the item ships. But your remaining balance will continue to be available, so you'll still have the $5.

Thanks! I'll look around and see if these bring anything down to a respectable price. I have all month to use the rewards, so I'm in no real hurry.

You would think that you have plenty of time but you never know. As noted, they won't be paying vendors and landlords and there are rumors they will be filing for Bankruptcy next week.

I had $20 in Borders Bucks that were good until the end of Feb but I used them today just in case.
