There were plenty of copies of My Life at the Western Blvd Raleigh, NC store. I had picked that up used a few years ago for $3 on recommendation - really good movie; I was pleasantly suprised. --Peter

That is a good movie. I've just never been lucky enough to come across a widescreen copy, I'm always finding fullscreen only versions.

Don't you find yourself torn between "YAHOO, more great deals" and "DAMN IT, now where am I gonna put THESE ???"

Had a pretty good run since it looked pretty picked over.

1. Panic Room 3D (stuck in the back or I wouldn't have gotten this one!)
2. Whos the Boss s1 (had maybe 5 copies left)
3. Adv of Baron Munchhausen (not the 2D 20th anniv.)
4. Hudson Hawk SE (had the reg. vers. at Amazon sell a couple of months ago ... I NEVER NEVER - well almost never - buy the reg. vers if an SE exists)
5. Mothman 2D (THIS IS WHY!)
6. Adaption Suberbit
7. Sleepwalkers
8. Replacement Killers se
9. Gattaca SE
10. Mysterious Island (Ray Harryhausen)
11. Grudge 2 Ext Unrated
12. Bugsy 2d Ext
13. When Darkness Falls SE
14. Splitting Heirs
15. Dave Chappelle's Block Party
16. Balto 3
17. Junior
18. The Prisoner (Alec Guiness)
19. Psycho CE (New vers. no slash in UPC!)
20. Tailor of Panama

In retrospect I should have picked up Opportunity Knocks and Postcards from the Edge.

DID NOT GET: Hellboy 3D, Producers 2D, Mix Nuts (WS/FS)

Was shocked to see:
1. Memento 2D (had been like a year since I saw this)
2. Final Fantasy 2D .. .ditto ...
3. Monster 2D
4. An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 (except I read this thread!)

All my store had were full frame copies of this. Did you find a widescreen or did you get a pan&scan copy?

What stores are you near ???...What part of the country do you live in ???

Some people are reporting finding The Notorious Bettie Page. I wish that would show up at one of the stores close to me. I wonder why some stuff shows up in abundance one place, and not at all in others ???

The Big Lots near me has a shit selection.

No HBO titles anywhere. Not a single one. I was hoping I could find a Mothman 2D, Notorious Bettie Page, CE3K 2D, Leon 2D -- nada. They didn't even have any of the "desirable" discs I already have like Evening w/Kevin Smith 2, Memento 2D, Hellboy 3D, etc.

All I've managed to get are Bowling for Columbine 2D (for my girlfriend), Art School Confidential, Bubba Ho-Tep, and the Valley Girl SE (to upgrade from my barebones).

anyone lucky enough to find a copy of action:the complete series, I cannot recommend it highly enough. a sharp biting satire of the movie business that got cancelled after only 13 episodes. I am sure if it were made for hbo, it would have been a hit, but it failed because I truly believe it was way too good for commercial television and was a very adult! show. if you like entourage or the film "swimming with sharks" you will surely love this show.

The reason I asked your location was just in case there are other members here that might know of a Big Lots close by, but other than the ones you go to, where they may have seen what you're looking for. Worth a shot right ???

The restocks have finally hit the SF Bay area in force. Unfortunately, because when they are freshly stocked, they always cost me way too much money.

I got there with a complete restock, early in the morning, unpicked over. So here are some of my observations along with a list of purchases.

They have long DVD width replacement boxes for the restocks, in my store they were stacked high over the big DVD cubes of movies. One of these replacement boxes is filled full of $2 Christmas cartoons and a few Christmas live action DVDs.

I purchased for $2, all of these animated DVDs:

A Magical cartoon Christmas (9 classics like Peeping Penguins, Jack Frost etc)
Poochini The Christmas Tree
The Toy Shop
Magic Gift of the Snowman
The Night Before Christmas (Kevin Kline version)
The Nutcracker (Goodtimes DVD, Jetlag productions)
Felix the Cat saves Christmas
A Christmas Carol (Goodtimes DVD, Jetlag productions)

Here's what I noted about some of the harder to find DVDs that have already been listed so you see why they are relatively rare:

There were only 4 copies of The Notorious Bettie Page in the complete stock, and only 4 copies of the 3D Panic Room. There were 8 copies of the Deluxe edition of Guys and Dolls and 8 copies of the first season of Who's the Boss. There were only two editions of The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen in the whole stack. About 4 copies of Leon the Professional (uncut Intl edition).

I picked up the animated version of the Starship Troopers Chronicles for $3:

Roughnecks: The Zephyre Campaign
Roughnecks: The Klendathu Campaign
Roughnecks: The Tophet Campaign

Heres the rest of what I got for $3:

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Deluxe Edition of Guys and Dolls (includes collectible scrap book)
Leon the Professional
The Notorious Bettie Page (I picked up an extra copy for the first person to contact me)
In the Cut (Meg Ryan getting hot and steamy)
Into Thin Air (Death on Everest)
Close Encounters of the 3d Kind ( Collectors edition)
Bad Boys II (2 disk version)
Panic Room (3 disk Special edition)
Land of the Blind (Ralph Fiennes, Donald Sutherland)
Bugsy (Extended Cut)
Scoop (Woody Allen, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson)
The Boogyman (the original 1980 version, also includes Return of the Bogeyman)
The Devil's Backbone (Guillermo del Toro early film)
Who's the Boss Season One
Adaptation
The Hunt for the BTK Killer (what can I say)
Philadelphia (Anniversary edition)
Whoopi: Back to Broadway the 20th anniversary
Angel Rodriguez: a life in a day
Peter Bogdanovich's They all Laughed (25th Anniversary Edition)
Swimming Pool
Chris Rock: Never Scared
The Ratpack (John Mantegna, Ray Liotta, Don Cheadle)

Thanks for all the tips folks on what to look for and what was out there. Thanks to you, I knew what to look for and pretty much got everything that I wanted.

Just got home from the Big Lots in Milford, MA

Mostly the same stuff as what's been listed, although they did have the Sabata Trilogy box, and 4 Woody Allen boxsets (The set with Radio Days in it)

I only picked up The Fog SE, although there were two copies of Who's the Boss S1.

Nope, old release.

I find it amazing that they already have the Gattaca special edition, and other pretty recent new releases in the $3 batch.
