New weekend online code I guess for those who didn't get the 20% Store code. These appear to be one time use codes. I'll try to add a few to the wiki as soon as I get a list. Let me know if these are multiple use.

Members - 20% Sept 21-24
As a member, I just got a mailer saying members get a 20% discount (instead of 10%) in-store only, next weekend, September 21-24. (As usual, I'll remind you that this isn't very appreciative since 10% + 15% coupon is a 23.5% total discount. So they're giving you less discount than you usually get.)
Having the regular weekly coupons next week would be unprecedented for BN, since they usually do not have regular coupons along with other events. (We may not get coupons again until Columbus Day.) At the same time, the printable store coupons in the Wiki are still active. With 20% member discount + 15% discount, the total is 32% which is definitely better than usual. |

^ I got this too. I'm still weighing if it's a good deal or not, since it's short duration, and there are no 20% coupons to pair it with.

I bit the bullet yesterday and plunked down my $25, while getting a good jump on making it worthwhile with my purchase of the Ken Burns' Vietnam book ($48 before discounts).
I noticed from the Wiki that there are no New Member coupons live at the moment. Is this a new thing? Also, I can't remember...if I do a 'ship to home' order in-store, do they honor my member discount, or is it still free shipping in lieu of? Thanks. |

Sometimes it is the item -- what are you trying? Sometimes an item gets a block attached to it and nothing works on it. For a long time the HP 8 Movie Collection just completely was blocked even when it was full price.
I just tried it on a couple different items and it applied without an issue on both a member and non-member account. Normally I'd suggest clearing your cache/cookies, sign out of your account, empty the cart, but if you've already tried multiple browsers I'm guessing that's not the issue. A number of the WAC have been very unpredictable lately whether the codes work, certain items are listed in hte description "Not coupon eligible", and of course pre-orders don;t work. |

I wonder when the next 50% off British TV sale is going to be. Seems like it has been a while. I got my wishlist on standby to pull the trigger. I seem to remember it was around the November Criterion sale - either just before or just after. Anyone have any insight into the next sale?

Also worth noting that we didn't get a repeat of last year's 50% off Arrow sale in August. Since the Criterion sale is almost upon us again, followed by a British sale and 40% blu ray sale (if history repeats), I'm guessing Arrow won't be happening this year.

I was just in a Barnes and Noble yesterday, and the movie and music section was stripped bare. All of the DVD and blu-ray shelves were empty, and most of the CDs were gone, too. The only DVDs and blu-rays I saw in the section were on a couple of freestanding displays. They still had all of their vinyl LPs; those were pretty much the only things in that entire section of the store. (Looked like they also took out all of the "performing arts" books that were adjacent to the walled-off DVD/CD/LP section.)
Anyone else see this? Is this limited to that store, or is it a sign of things to come? |

It was the B&N store in Wichita, KS. I was in the area visting some of my peeps and stopped in.
I suppose they could have been in the middle of a remodel. The media section is really big, maybe around 1500 square feet. The shelves were still there, but absolutely nothing on them. There were a couple of big empty carts back there that look what they are used to haul merchandise around. |

Received a new set of snail mail coupons today. 2 20% off coupons good through November 19. No Criterion exclusion listed. 4 other coupons: $10 off on a cheesecake, 20% off on a "Mystery Book", 20% off on a "Cookbook", 20% off on a "Picture Book".
