Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I'm looking for current $5/$50 and/or $8/$40 coupons. I'm at the store, but using my iPhone I'm not finding any in-store coupons that I could immediately use. If anyone could be so kind to post any in-store coupons here, I'd much appreciate it. Thx!

http://www.geekwire.com/2016/amazon-...tail-strategy/ If there's a good coupon this BF, I encourage you to use it to the absolute max. I know the new exclusions can make that hard. But new management tends to want to change things, so we may be looking back at 2016 as the last golden age of BN. The BF promotion hasn't been announced yet, but BN has always been late in announcing theirs compared to other retailers. (Their page is http://www.barnesandnoble.com/h/blac...r-monday-deals) [BTW, I'm not sure Amazon's deal is too good. In my case, I mostly buy books, not movies, so YMMV, but.... you have essentially a $100 deductible when you buy Prime. You have to meet your deductible, meaning you buy enough books that the difference between list price and Prime price is $100. That's about 12 books. Most new hardback books are about $8 cheaper online, or 30% off. Once you meet your deductible, you get the online price, and start saving money, so you'd have to buy well over a dozen new hardbacks per year (or the equivalent) to save much money. (Can a bunch of people buy a Prime membership and share it?) BN's membership is only $25, not $100, so your deductible is lower. Online, the free shipping plus online discount plus a coupon is unbeatable. Amazon doesn't come close. In the store, you'd have to calculate the break-even point for saving $25. You'd save about $5 per book (with 10% member discount and a coupon), so you'd only need to buy about 5 hardbacks to break even on membership. You wouldn't save as much from then on, but you'd start saving sooner.] That being said, I never shop in B&Ns brick and mortar stores. Their pricing makes it not worth it. Even with the 10% member discount and a 20% coupon, stuff is still priced significantly higher than online. Back in teh day, Sam Goody used to do the same thing. The pricing online was a lot cheaper than in store, and they wouldn't match the price, saying they were two separate entities. |

In store $5 off $50 Total Transaction Exp 12/11/2016 In store $8 off $40 Single DVD/BD Exp 12/11/2016 Sometimes you get better results with the 8/40 if you can get the clerk to type in the code rather than scan the barcode. Just tell them you have a code for $8 off a Movie and let them enter it -- L4J7J7A Love to know the results either way |

Is this a one time use in-store for us with memberships or is this a multiple use (ymmv) as long as the cashier keeps letting you use it? And are all the 20 percent member coupons that just came out today unique one time use codes or are they multiple use (ymmv)? Thanks in advance for any info on two coupons that came out today. |

So no coupons work for the Criterion Collection now?
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Looks like barnes & noble wants to go out of business. I understand they lost profit on these sales, but profit is still profit. If they eliminate the coupons, no one has a reason to step foot in the store. We'd all just wait for the criterion flash sale or amazon sales. Not sure what they're thinking.

I was looking thru the small print on 7 different in store coupons I currently have. 2 snail mail 20's, 1 store anniversary 20, 1 member 20, 3 non-member 15's and I noticed the following. That only two of the store coupons (the 1 member 20 and the 1 non-member 15 that showed up in my e-mail on 11-3-16 that are good thru 11-06-16 are the only two that have excludes criterion collection in the small print. The other five do not have that in the small print. If any clerks try to say no coupons at all. They need to be shown the small print. Only two different coupons put criterion collection in the excludes list (it's inserted right after rosetta stone steries). All other in-store coupons DO NOT have it on the excludes list. |

Since coupons no longer work, it'd be cheaper for me to order online, correct? No need to waste money going to the store.

There is a 15% Cart coupon that went active a bit ago I was hoping might be able to use the workaround, but BN seems to have flipped that switch immediately rather than fixing it a bit later. Take 15% Off $50 or More BNNOV125 -- expires ?? 11/10 2:59am ET. Criterions/Preorder don;t work directly or as an add-on |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
From reading the latest coupon restrictions it sounds like Criterions will no longer be discounted with coupons even when there is not a 50% off sale. There are other items excluded from coupons that are not currently discounted. Probably coming from Criterion, not B&N. So coupons probably won't work during 40% off all blu rays sale for Criterions. Of course you may get a clerk who will give you the discount.
I got an e-mailed coupon yesterday that I tried today. The clerk scanned it and got the same message you get when you try to order online ie the item(s) don't qualify for coupon. The clerk called over her supervisor asking if the coupon does not work on DVDs. The supervisor asked if it was a Criterion. She said it should work but that something is screwy with the Criterions and you had to manually do the coupon. She punched some keys and rescanned the coupon and I got the discount. So basically no more coupons on Criterions unless you get a nice clerk. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I just got back from the Barnes and Noble in Union Square in New York. I was told by a gentleman named Phil that they're no longer accepting coupons on the Criterions. With some people having success, I wanted to give it a shot. I'm going to guess that no Barnes and Noble in New York State are accepting coupons for the Collection.
They also didn't have Ikiru. What I'm going to do is have Target price match and get cash back from a website. Unless there's a better idea I'm unaware of. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Are there any % off entire order coupons floating about?

Over the years I've also found 1) buy everything you can with coupons at the beginning of the sale because they usually cut them off in the middle of it. This indicates to me that BN Corporate has some cap on the dollar amount of coupon loss they will accept for the sale; and 2) if you develop a good relationship with the sales people they will do everything to try to help you with the coupons (except for the trolls at Union Square). So I go out of my way to be nice and cordial with sales people (except of course for the trolls at Union Square). |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
A little off topic - but can anyone recommend some good Arrow movies? I don't own any yet, and although I gather the brand is similar to Criterion in terms of the work that is put into the releases, the titles available on the BN website kind of look like 'B' horror flicks and 'sploitation' movies. I know they also have a release of Dekalog, but I don't see it on bn.com. What are people recommending from them that's available from Barnes and Noble?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I tried using a 20% off coupon. Guy tried to enter it but it sound it didn't meet the requirements. He didn't know why so he asked the manager who they told us you can't use them with criterions. I politely told them I didn't want it then and walked away.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
No point in trying to see if an in-store coupon could work if I have to spend six bucks to get there.
I think I'll be getting my Criterions from other places. I purchased Sweet Smell of Sucess brand new for $20.60 on ebay. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Tried using one of those 15% off codes in the wiki ^ and none of them worked online.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
