That's really disappointing news about the cashback situation. That was one of the few reasons I had to even use my Discover card. That little bit extra cashback on the Criterion sale purchases really added up. LASERMOVIES, you mentioned using your B&N Mastercard from now on. Would you still receive cashback there when using coupons?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Does BN ever keep low pre-order pricing right after the release date? Curious because they have a few items close to 50% off on preorder for this Tuesday and i was wondering if it ever works out to wait and use a coupon as the release date hits. Or if they have it setup to raise the price automatically once the date hits to avoid coupons being used essentially on the preorder price. Shot in the dark but i thought I'd ask anyway.

I got similar story about overriding their computers today regarding the cashback they promised me. When I mentioned I was supposed to have the $12 by this statement period the supervisor said they could not override the system to manually add it now. I wasn't too pleased to hear that since the $12 would have given me just enough to cash out for a $50 B&N gift card. I was hoping I could get it for the Criterion sale in November. That's now out the window.

With the B&N Mastercard it's a rebate and not cashback. You don't have to wait for it to get approved or credited like cashback. As soon as your B&N transaction posts to your account there is a 5% discount posted below it. Even before you make a purchase online it shows how much you will get back before you submit the order. You also get the rebate on purchases at B&N stores. It does not require a purchase through a special link like Discover or other cashback web sites. However you can usually earn cashback at other web sites also. At least with B&N card I know I'll at least get the 5% even if I get screwed on the cashback elsewhere. I should add yes you can use coupons and still get the credit card rebate.

I've seen it go both ways. Sometimes the price will increase slightly at release, and other times it will hold through the release. Even if the price does increase a little you would probably save more waiting until it's eligible to use a coupon.

I know it's been reported that the next Criterion sale will be a week shorter at 2 weeks instead of 3, but my source, who has been correct each time so far, tells me it's the same as always. He confirmed it to be from Nov. 1 through the 21st.

I'm not sure who said it would only last two weeks, but 11/1-11/21 has been confirmed.

I saw the incorrect info in the Criterion Blu-ray thread and in at least one more that I don't recall.

I remember seeing the two week thing too in a couple places. Anyways, glad to see another confirmation that it is the usual three weeks. Now I can cancel my pre-order of Three Colors Trilogy on Amazon and use that gift card balance on something else.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Here we go again. Looks like another surprise coupon promotion later in the week. I assume this will be like the last one with the unique codes that can only be used once. Also probably need to receive B&N email offers to get one. Last time I managed to only get a couple of 15% coupons.

http://cart2.barnesandnoble.com/shop...&promoid=10037

Surprise Savings Coupon Details:

This coupon can be redeemed only once per customer per billing address at any Barnes & Noble retail store or online at BN.com.

This coupon is valid from October 27, 2011 and expires in stores October 31, 2011 at close of business, or for orders placed online, at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time November 1, 2011, while supplies last.

This coupon entitles you to one of the following discounts: 10%, 15%, 20%, 30% or 50% off the one eligible item in your order. The discount will be applied to the most expensive eligible item in the order - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after all other eligible discounts, including (if applicable) the standard Member discount, are applied.

To see which discount offer you qualify for, enter this coupon at checkout. No purchase is required. You may choose not to complete your transaction after seeing your discount and before paying.

Additional Rules Governing Use of this Coupon: This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and online Gift Certificates); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, gift-wrapping, textbooks, video games, digital content (including but not limited to NOOK Books, magazines, and periodicals), NOOK(r) devices and their related accessories, other hardware and electronics, software, products available for pre-order, products from the Rosetta Stone Series, products available for in-store ship-to-home orders, or products marked as not eligible for "coupons or promotional discounts," (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the BN.com website (e.g., used books, PC and video games, etc.); (v) not valid at hp.bn.com (vi) not valid on applicable sales tax or shipping or handling expenses; (vii) may not be combined with any other coupon or promotional discount; and (viii) may not be combined with the Educator program discount. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores or websites. Void where prohibited by law.

This offer is subject to change or discontinuation without notice; we will, however, honor properly placed orders with valid methods of payment with sufficient funds placed prior to such change or discontinuation. Barnes & Noble is not responsible for typographical or pictorial errors.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

If I don't get one of these emails this time, I'm calling BN CS. I just checked my settings and as I expected, I am signed up to receive emails from BN, but I never get these. If they can't get the system to work, they shouldn't use it.

Thanks Laser for yet another heads up, by the way!

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Can you return an item purchased at BN.com to a Barnes & Noble store?

What if the store doesn't sell movies?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest calling the store and asking them if they would do a return. I found the store policies for returns can vary. In most cases I've been able to do returns and exchanges for items purchased online at stores, but occasionally they have refused and I had to go through B&N.com.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I ran across the new surprise coupons and can confirm they are not generic coupons anyone can use. No barcodes again. To get a valid coupon will require being signed up and receiving emails directly from B&N.

If a person gets real lucky and gets a 30 or 50 percent sent to them.
Can the coupon be used multiple times in store(s)? I know it will only
work once online. But I was wondering if you can get multiple use in
the brick and mortar. Thanks in advance for any info.

No coupon. Shocker. Hopefully BN doesn't wonder why I don't renew my membership when time comes...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Got the email, went to BN.com, tried it on a DVD I've been wanting, got 20% off, with shipping it was still more that what Amazon wants for it. Put 2 more DVDs in my cart to get free shipping and it was still $3 more than what I can get the same 3 DVDs for from Amazon.

Wonder what kind of deal I might find using the store coupon? Is it worth the ink I'll use printing the coupon? -kd5-

I received 2 30% off coupons but nothing to the account registered with my membership. Oh well. 30% isn't too bad. I'll definitely find a use for them.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I've had a B&N account at their website for years, but never got any coupons sent to me. A few weeks ago I signed up with a different email address, and now I'm finally getting coupons. I just scored a 30% one.

I'm tempted to use my 30% coupon on the newly released Barney Miller: Complete Series which is currently 40% off at 95.99, 67.19 plus tax after coupon.

Can anyone confirm the online code you get is the same % off as you would have in the store? Just wondering I assume it is but I would go to my local BN to check if they were different.

Good question. I've never tried one of these one use coupons at store to find out if they can be used multiple times. However I would imagine if B&N went through all the trouble to come up with this system there must be a way they can prevent them from being used over and over at stores.

Hopefully we can get one of our fellow forum members to let us know if they
have tried and what the result was. Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part.
But I am hoping that the code is more of a head fake to prevent multiple use in store.
