I'm still not receiving any and I've given up hope of that ever changing. But since I've got about 4 months left on my current membership I'll still be checking this thread religiously for codes that I can make use of.

Thank again to Laser and everyone else that's keeping us informed on B&N discounts!

Gary "I'll probably let my membership expire for good this time around" O.

I'm in the same boat with the B&N emails. Looks like my one account that was still getting emails for sales and coupons just got cut off. I'm getting nothing on four different accounts. If B&N plans to start issuing more of these one use disposable coupon codes I see no reason to buy a membership, or continue doing business with them.

I don't receive any coupons via email anymore either, in any of my accounts. I have no intention of buying a new membership, after they nixed the 10% online discount, stopped sending me coupons, and refused to reinstate one of my unjustly canceled orders. But I'm going to keep abusing those free two-month memberships as long as I can. I have a feeling I won't be spending much there in the near future. The BBC sale, Criterion sale, and Groupon deal all pulled me in. But I suspect I'm done for a while, except for the occasional order here and there when they release a good coupon.

Sorry, I meant $1100 MSRP. I should have been clearer about that. I had 32 Groupons, and bought things at an average of 70% off MSRP.

This time around I seem to have been rewarded for my greediness. I was ready to face the consequences because I acknowledge that I went overboard (although everything I bought is for me or gifts -- I think the resellers are in a whole other category of asshole and I don't mess with that). I have no doubt that next time I'll get punished for it, and I'll take my lumps.

I only got 2 out of 3 that should have been refunded; someone with an extra got one of mine! Hehehe

I sort of feel I'm at the crossroads here with B&N even though I purchased a lot of things over the last year. Probably the most ever as a B&N member. I'm currently doing a 2 month free trial with a spare account. I was planning on buying a new membership next month with one of my Groupons before they canceled it. Now it seems they are slowly transitioning into issuing more disposable coupons instead of the regular generic coupons that all customers or B&N members can use. However I get the impression with the email cut off they no longer value my patronage and loyalty as a customer, so in the end they are cutting their own throat with the snub. I see no reason to buy a membership if this is what they intend to do in the future.

I'm with you and Ken, and I was never getting email coupons to begin with. Had it not been for this thread I'd have let my membership expire after the first year. As it is I think I'm on my fourth or fifth year with them but it's absolutely coming to a close in a few more months. I will NOT be renewing again, for the reasons you and others have stated.

Gary "thanks again for the codes though, Laser, because without those my membership wouldn't be worth squat to me right now" O.

Nothing like making a new poster feel welcome. Many people post their opinions and leave it at that, not feeling the need or desire to press it into a debate. I'm not so sure that necessarily translates as arrogance, but maybe that's how your world turns.

New poster or not, if I feel he or she needs to be called on a post I'll do it.
That IS the way my world turns. Where I'm from you can't give your opinion and then forbid others their rebuttal by stating you don't want to argue. If you don't want the possibility of an argument then keep your opinion to yourself.

Nobody said you didn't have a right to rebut his statements, I only question your assumption that he/she is "arrogant" simply because they decide their part of the discussion is over. This is a public forum so by all means stay true to your "world" and continue to argue your point over and over again, whether anyone responds or not. ;)

There really isn't much of a reason to keep a membership if you buy mostly online. I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I have a few months to decide. I do hope you'll keep looking for coupons until it's obvious there isn't a point.

I meant in a general pattern to posting, not specific to that conversation.

And Ken, leftover from the BL thread, we still need to meet at the playground after school and get into a patented 4th grade shoving match.

In regards to BN's lack of emailing coupons to members:
I've mentioned this before and the pattern has still held. My old official (expired membership) linked account has <s>seldom</s> never been sent any special discounts by B&N. Neither have the "new" account addresses I've registered to take advantage of new member offers. The one address of mine that constantly gets all their special account-linked offers happens to be one that they believe belongs to an "Anthony". They never identify him as a member. I took over this specific email in March...they must want this guy to place another order and not care the least for a formerly very active ex-member (Me! :().

Whatever I do I'll keep the list going as long as possible. It really doesn't take up much of my time to update it. I figure eventually B&N will make it too much of a pain in the ass to go on. They already have made it more difficult to find online coupon codes. I'm expecting them to do something to clamp down on the store coupons in the near future. Last year I ran across a page I thought was the beginning, but so far they have not done it. I bookmarked the page at the link. My thoughts are if B&N is so paranoid about customers using coupons they should just do away with all of them.

It's not just members. They will not send coupons to my accounts without a membership either. However it wasn't always that way. I was receiving coupons and other B&N emails regularly with all my accounts up to about April/May of last year. Without any warning they stopped. I eventually started another account, which received emails up to recently. I mainly used my membership account, while the others were rarely used unless there was a good coupon I wanted to use a few extra times.

After months of getting no emails with my membership account I finally decided to call customer service. During the phone conversation I got the impression they intentionally turned off the emails. The CSR seemed to have information and knowledge of which emails were sent and when they stopped. She didn't give me any further details, but tried make excuses why I wasn't getting them. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but a month after the phone conversation with the CSR I suddenly started receiving emails again on my membership account. That lasted for about two months when they stopped for a second time.

However what really pisses me off was about a month before my membership expired I received some coupons in the mail along with this card telling me I was not subscribed to receive emails for savings at B&N. I made a copy of it. I tried signing up at the link they sent but it didn't change a thing.

I managed to find a couple of new coupon codes I added to the list. Added a new 15% member code and 10% non-member code that expire after Monday. I think it's possible there still might be a 20% code out there somewhere.

My new strategy is to use in-store coupons a few days before release date on titles I want. This way, I get the cheaper online price, the coupon discount, and free ship to home.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I went and picked up a few items with some coupons tonight. It sucks that when you use a coupon it is discounted after the other percentages are taken off and not stacked. I had The World at War on BD regularly priced for 149.99 and it had a 50% off. I figured that with that discount and my wife's 10% membership along with a 20% coupon that I would get the set for less than 40 bucks tax included. However, with the coupons and discounts it came out to 58 bucks and some change. Still a good price but not near as good as it would have been if the discounts would have been taken off of the original price. I did check with Amazon and they wanted over a hundred so I still got a good deal on it but the cheapster in me wanted it for less.

The other day when I tried to redeem a Groupon in-store for a GC, I got shot down. So I bought a $20 DVD instead. Today I went to return it, assuming I would then get a GC. To my surprise, they credited my credit card! B&N never ceases to amaze me...

the Informant BD with Matt Damon is only 9.99. I personally thought this was a great movie and with coupon and member ship got it for around 9.00.

Good find and excellent suggestion! Too bad all of the coupons are expired now. There is one 15% member coupon, but I'm saving that for a potential higher priced purchase. I'll lay low for now, hoping a new coupon will surface for the weekend...

My Weeds S6 BD shipped today, placed during the 50% off coupon/B2G1F combo promos... I think only Star Wars is left now from my Ship to Home orders...
