It was a simple mistake. I'd forgive and forget, but I am sorry for your wasted time/gas.

Well, he was checking for 3 separate titles so it would be a giant leap of the imagination to believe that someone else had just called about the same 3 titles I was aking about. And his lies changed even as we discussed it. All I wanted was an honest answer why he told me he put it on hold for me and took my name down and made me drive all that way if it was already on hold. He was probably trying to save face with the manager by making up some cockamamie story to pretend he did it the right way, and I can understand that. But I think as a customer of any establishment and who was told one thing and spent time/money afterwards to at least be treated to an honest answer when I asked 'how' this happened. If they can't even give me that after their 'honest' mistake, then screw 'em.

As far as forgiving/forgetting, I agree. In the big scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. But I know practically everyone on this board would have been a bit teed off if this happened to you. Maybe not go as ballistic as I do :suicide: , but it would be an irritation. After venting here, I'm over it.

I think it's much easier to put titles on hold online with the "pick me up" feature at a store of your choice instead of calling. Also I believe there is less of a chance of an employee making a mistake since they get a print out with all your personal information clearly spelled out in front of them, and have to confirm they have the title in stock they are reserving for you. I've used it many times and it has worked out quite well most of the time. However one time when I reserved a blu-ray DVD they screwed up and put a standard DVD on hold instead. Fortunately they still had the blu-ray copy when I came to pick up the DVD. While it may not be a completely foolproof system of getting the correct item at least you can expect there will be something waiting for you at the store. But if you are making a long drive it wouldn't hurt as an added precaution to call ahead to confirm they are holding the correct item before going.

Hi,

Is there an actual printable in store 15% coupon for the current 15% coupon that expires Feb. 1st. When you click on the info link it states that this particular coupon is both an online(code R9B9Y3P) and in store (300261) coupon, but I haven't seen a printable coupon anywhere.

Thank.

There is not a printable version available for this coupon. This is a monthly coupon B&N issues and sends by mail to certain members that includes a store coupon along with the online code. When it expires B&N will probably release a new one to replace it for the next month.

I ran across a couple of new store coupons that should get activated in a few days. Should be able to use these.

Renewal membership question

I let my membership expire on October 31, 2008. If I renew today, what would the new expiration date be for my membership? Would it be January 16, 2011, or would it have been October 31, 2009? 10/31/99 sounds absurd, but their website seems to imply this is what would happen.

If you're worried, why not just get a new membership? Use a different e-mail address and slightly change your name. BTW, if you sign up for a membership today, it should last until January 31, 2011(they give you until the end of the month).

I want to use the 20% off with renewal coupon that's offered with my initial order of three Blu-ray box sets. I know it's only an extra 5% off over using a standard member 15% off coupon, but 5% on some pricey box sets is an extra $5-plus off.

You should be fine renewing with the current account. They should update the expiration date to January 31, 2011 like Sweet Baby James said. However I would suggest renewing through Bing since you can earn 10% cashback on the membership purchase.

Also it appears a one day 20% coupon is coming January 24 for all customers. Reading the fine print you may have to use one of the bookstore links on the first page to activate it.

Thanks for the info. I used T8R7W8F + 10% Member's Discount + the B2G3 deal.

Cliffhanger (Blu-Ray)
Mask Of Zorro (Blu-Ray)
Deep Impact (Blu-Ray)
TOTAL = $38.16 shipped ($12.72 each)

Also had a bonus $10 GC for buying $100 worth of Gift Cards before Christmas. So the final price was $28.16. Nice!

Is this working for anyone? I'm still only seeing 10% despite the 15% notice on the page when you go to http://www.bn.com/library
