Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
No, it's the same as doing three separate transactions with three different 50% coupons. The highest priced item is half off and the other two are B1G1, so half off each. If the two cheapest items are different prices, you'd save more by doing separate transactions. So the B1G2 is equal to or worse than doing all separate transactions.
One thing we haven't brought into the equation is the 10% off for titles $39.99+. If you are buying the higher priced items like that, you're actually getting 55% off each item with the coupon, and an additional 10% off if you're a member. So members are getting 59.5% off titles 39.99+ with the coupon (not factoring in the B2G1F sale).

Now if you're using multiple coupons each transaction that would change the outcome.
My strategy is to find one item that is about twice the price or slightly more than the other 2. With the 50% it drops it to about the same as others for an equal b2g1 deal. And that usually pushes my total to over $50 which lets me use the other coupon.

.................
I just noticed that the Black Swan (blu) pre-order is only $23.99 before any discounts. That will be mine.
True Grit is the same price.

I'm a non-member though and am only using one 50% off coupon, but that's a good enough deal for me. I don't want to push it, especially since she wasn't sure about the coupon yesterday and recognized me again today.
I still think though that the 50% off and 30% off coupons would work in the same transaction if you're buying multiple items. I just don't want to try it though because they look identical except for like 3 numbers on the barcode and I don't feel like getting into an argument about that, seems too petty.
---
I don't know how it worked out this way, because when I calculated what the total would be I got something completely different, but I got Doctor Who: Series 1, Doctor Who: Black Guardian Trilogy, and Doctor Who: Trial Of A Time Lord for $86.65 total, which comes out to $28.88 each, which is cheaper than Amazon has ever had them.
Usually, when you do the B2G1 Sale it charges you for the two most expensive items. In my case that would have been Series 1 ($79.99, on sale for $71.99) and either Black Guardian Trilogy or Trial Of A Time Lord ($59.99, on sale for $53.99). Factor in the 50% off coupon and the $71.99 becomes $35.99, plus the $53.99, making the three a total of $89.98.
Instead, they charged me for both $53.99 ones and the $71.99 one rang up free. The 50% off coupon made one of the $53.99 ones $26.99, then with the other $53.99 one it brought me to a total of $80.98 for the three.
The only possible explanation I can come up with is the order in which she scanned them into the system. Because the $71.99 one was rang up last. It's only a $9 difference, but just sort of odd. Has anyone had this happen before?

No idea how you got the highest price one for free, but congrats...
I must say, I love to gripe about B&N, and how their membership benefits have tanked in the last year, but when they gave a good coupon like this, combined with a good sale, they truly rock... I still hate their online customer service, with a passion, but I must admit I am loving B&N right now...
I still have 6 more titles I want to get for sure, and may try for a few more after that, but if I can just get these last 6 I want, I'll be happy... But not enough to pay for a new membership! I must say, I have used the shit out of this free 2-month trial...

If my Barnes & Noble doesn't have an item in stock, could I still get the B2G1 deal if I bought two in-store and had the third shipped to home?

Yes. I did it twice. I haven't received the movies by mail yet, but it worked and the discounts were fine. There just isn't the extra 10% off for members on the one you'll buy online.

Exactly. I just did the same. I bought one in store and 2 ship to home. I also used the 50% off, the $5 off DVD, and the $5 off a $50 purchase. It really pays to get friendly with the staff. One of the ship to home items I ordered wasn't available as part of the B2G1 online but the employee let me have it anyway.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
The coupon just made me orgasm again... Used it 3 more times at a different store tonight. For the first time, I asked if I could do a Ship to Home order for one item as part of the B2G1F, since they didn't have one title I wanted. He called a manager, and the manager told him that ALL 3 items would have to be ordered with Ship to Home in order to get one free, even if some of the titles were in-stock. In my head, I started to sing "I have a golden ticket..." and immediately picked out a title that I knew was cheaper online than in-store (Videodrome) even though they had it on hold for me, plus 2 pre-orders (Weeds S6 and Let Me In). He took both coupons without hesitation, however he said:
"You know, it's funny, but I've been getting nothing but 50% off coupons all day. I'm beginning to think they're all 50% off"
I also bought a book at a different register with the coupon. Also amusing, that cashier said it was the first 50% off coupon she's seen!!! I guess everyone is using it on media... I'm up to 9 uses now.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
So I went back tonight and got a membership for $25.00, figuring it was stupid not to given the stuff I was about to buy and the stuff I'd likely buy tomorrow. I already missed out on saving $18.00 this morning, so I figured there was no excuse to miss saving more. Basically I paid $25 for the membership and the Membership Savings total for the stuff I bought (detailed below) came out to $42.30, which is a no-brainer.
Anyway, picked up Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends: The Complete Series ($40.49, after 10% Membership and 50% Coupon); Doctor Who: Series 2 ($64.79, after 10% Membership); and Sons Of Anarchy: Season 2 on Blu-ray (Priced at $56.99, but free). I also got Doctor Who: Series 3 ($32.39, after 10% Membership and 50% Coupon); Doctor Who: Series 4 ($64.79, after 10% Coupon); and Doctor Who: Dalek War (Priced at $48.59, but free).
My total, not including the $25 Membership Fee, came out to $216.63, making them each $36.11; I wasn't thinking, but should've gotten one of the Doctor Who sets free instead of Sons Of Anarchy. But that just would've saved me $7 and I'm not about to go back and return two separate orders and re-buy the stuff in a different combination, lol.
Still, $36 for each of the sets I got is a pretty good deal. If I got all of these sets at the cheapest Amazon has ever had them, it would have been about $23 more in total than what I paid at Barnes & Noble; I might go back tomorrow though and exchange Sons Of Anarchy for something else though, so long as it's below the price of the Doctor Who Sets I don't see why it should be a problem to get something else for free.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Seriously, though, I hardly ever go to B&N and I'm obviously not a B&N member, but I'm tempted to try to preorder the Complete Star Wars Saga (1-6 I know) for $50 with the 50% off coupon as others have done. However, I'm not well versed in the binary language of moisture evap... I mean not well versed in B&N coupons, so I'm not sure of the right steps. It sounds like I could go tomorrow to the store, say I want to preorder Star Wars via ship to home, hand over the 50% off coupon and get it for $50 + tax (or if I can find 2 more titles I'd automatically get the 3rd one free and could use a $5 off $50 coupon)?
It would be cool if I could also get the Aliens set for $40-ish. I don't know if I'll try though because as great as BD is, DVDs suffice for movies I only watch every 5-10 years or so, so I'm not going to go through hoops to get these as it sounds like there is some YMMV involved.

Run #2--Preordered Meserine: Public Enemy #1 for $15 + tax and got Lost in Translation for $9.71+ tax.
Saw Atonement there for 50% off and put a hold on it. I believe with all the discounts it would come out to $6. The trick here is to find stuff that has another discount on it. I believe Social Network has a 30% off in store. So going by all the discounts I think it comes out to $11.70.
I wish you guys hadn't told me that Black Swan was at $23.99. Now I have another BD I want to buy.

Round 3:
Black Dynamite (blu)
Children of Men (blu)
Lost in Translation (blu)
Once Upon a Time in America (blu)
Raging Bull: 30th Anniversary Ed. (blu)
Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut (dvd)
Total = $60
It's the same price in-store as well. It's marked $69.99, but has a 10% off sticker.
I mentioned that earlier in the thread, but unfortunately I had no luck with a pre-order at two different stores. The system wouldn't let them place the order. I'm assuming it's because there isn't a set release date in the system. Give it a shot though, hopefully you can get it.

Looked about, printed two copies of that 50% off coupon.
First picked up "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" SE, paid $14.67 (with tax).
I didn't want to use the second copy, might look suspicious. I was planning to buy a book instead. But luck was with my side. The clerk who helped me took a bathroom break; new guy at the counter. Grabbed "Mae West: The Glamour Collection", the DVD already had a discount of 30%. Gave it a try, it worked - 80% off, paid $7.60 (wt). Outstanding. Both clerks said the same thing. I was the first to get that half off coupon.
All discs mint. I'm happy.
