Yeah, it's a good flick. I think it might be the best movie from De Palma, but I actually like Dressed To Kill and Body Double better for sentimental reasons. I saw them in my youth. :)

It appears there have been two single releases of Robin Hood, one by Image (1999) and one by Kino (2004). This set and the Kino disc both have the same release date so I'd assume this is the same transfer/disc.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the one I have is made by Kino, and distributed by Image, copyright 1998, so it must be the earlier one. I'll check this sale out (I'd be all over the Griffith box set if I didn't already have it).

He does. It's the DD Deals Consolidated thread. punit keeps it updated on a weekly or so basis.

That thread seems to not get "bumped" as much as the others do so it is sometimes a bit more difficult to locate.

I like the combined one for the overview, but the individual ones for the listings of titles that mnementh does for us. It makes it easier to see/find the listings. If it were *always* a single thread the lists from mnementh would be scattered throughout all kinds of dross and quickly become ponderous to use.

BobO'Link 05-09-08 09:03 AM

Hey punit, how about a link to the consolidated thread on the first post of your separate threads? That would answer scott1598s' complaint and could also make it easier for everyone to locate other sales.

And thanks for your work doing these! You must really be bored at work, eh? :)

I'll chime in on Scott1598's comments: I, too, prefer the separate threads. Thanks Stockton/Malone!

punit 05-09-08 11:34 AM

Some mod saw so many threads started by me about deals at DD. What he/she failed to realize is that there is one consolidated thread for all the DD deals.

Anyway, all the different threads started by me and all the discussions by fellow members have been merged into 1 thread named Many current deals at DD by the mod not me even though it adds so much confusion but i cannot do anything about that.

Misty Eyes 05-09-08 12:25 PM

I prefer the separate threads. This thread is already 7 pages long because of the merge and like you said, Punit, it adds confusion.

kefrank 05-09-08 12:30 PM

I also strongly prefer the separate threads. I don't understand why the merge was needed.

Perhaps if a member wants to talk about an individual deal enough to have a separate thread, that member could start the thread.

As it is, we had at least 10 threads of current deals, most just from DD, all created by the same person and those DD promotions were the same deals as in this consolidated thread. A consolidated thread of DD deals for each week should be adequate to keep them all visible.

kenbuzz 05-09-08 12:56 PM

Holy moley, I must be the only one who LIKES a single consolidated thread. In fact, I'd like to see this as a sticky, since whenver I see a DD deal I look for this thread to see what the expiration and terms are, and what other ongoing dealios DD is offering.

Like Winston Smith said - "Sanity is not statistical." Count me in the minority.

And thanks for keeping this updated.

SkullOrchard 05-09-08 01:09 PM

For what little it's worth, I also prefer separate threads for each individual deal.

This is stupid,I want the seperate threads back.Keep this consoladated one if you want but bring back the other ones. There are 20 threads of amazon deals,so what,i dont see them being consolodated and they should not be, so why should the DD deals be.I like others find this more confusing,so what if DD is having a lot of sales lately this is dvd bargains after all.so whats next consoladate every amazon,dd,target, best buy ect... deal into there own threads.can we have another mod repost the DD deals?

It's actually a matter of all the threads being created by the same person. When people get going like that they drive all the other people's equally valuable threads off the first page of a forum. This issue comes up from time to time and that's why we have a policy of 4-5 threads started by the same person on the front page of each forum. If other people want to discuss particular deals they are free to start their own thread about it.

If the posts from that person are all valid, distinct bargains, then that is a silly policy. Obviously, it runs counter to the wishes of the forum members. If people aren't interested in the specific deals, those deals will quickly drop off the front page.

Links back from the consolidated thread to the separate threads would be nice as well. Of course, we'd need separate threads back. :grunt:

I agree with this,if its not much of a deal it will drop off right away, some of the better deals like the mgm buy 2 get 1 free will be popular and get 30 or more responses and stay on the front page for a couple days.I was enjoying reading what people where getting from that deal and since there where over 400 movies on sale i missed a couple i wanted until i saw other members getting that particuliar movie and now its gone.

There is no way in heck i am going to sift through 10+ pages(or however many pages this thread winds up at)of deals i might have no intrest in to see a deal i do have intrest in such as the mgm buy2 get 1.deals change all the time prices go up they go down, titles are added, titles are took away.I guess i could start the thread again myself to keep track of that particular sale but it just does not make sense since it was already posted

If punit doesn't post the deals in a timely manner, WatchAMovie or other posters will report the exact same things.

And what do you mean by "When people get going like that"? punit has been posting the DD deals consistently for at least a year now and forum regulars rely on him for doing it. Deals that don't generate interest drop off the front page. Ones like the current B2G1 sale have plenty of comments, now confusingly mixed up with all the other posts in this thread.

Exactly. There was no need to merge the threads.

Great! However WatchAMovie seems to concentrate on only Amazon for some reason.

The mods will be discussing this. It's very hard for us to make an exception in one forum because people here demand extreme consistency and we get all sorts of problems when rules aren't applied the same to everyone, even to the owners of the site.

Alright X(mod), i don't want to offend anyone here and surely not the forum's current policies but there is a new deal at DD right now. Do you want me to add it in the first post of this thread or start a new thread ?

I'll wait for your reply..

Thanks

For right now, how about maintaining your first post in this thread to show current deals? Maybe a weekly deals thread could be worked out, but let's see what the mods agree upon. I do think, as I mentioned earlier, consistency will be a very strong consideration.

Sure, i can add the deal to the first post of this thread but just one question.
The thread won't be bumped up automatically if i've updated the first post so how does a forum regular knows that a new deal has been posted in the first post of the thread considering that they all go in the order of their end-dates. The newest deal may end up somewhere in the middle of the list

Making the thread sticky would possibly not work either but i'm sure mods will work out this one.

Take a look at how this one works, it was the same situation.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=413432

Posts of people having interest would keep it bumped, but perhaps just making it a sticky would be the thing to do.

punit 05-09-08 03:22 PM

Ok. This one is huge!
