How about we do both. Just have one post on one thread with the DD deals, then if you want to discuss a particular deal, make sure to say it like "DeepDiscount B1G1 Fox Discussion".

Why would you do that? How about we have one post on one thread with the amazon deals, then if you want to discuss a particular deal make sure to say like" Amazon B1G1 fox discusion"

I just can not believe you do not see this, the whole blow up in this thing is that one person(who is a much more valued member in this community than i could ever be(punit this means you) because i hate to type and do not want to spend the time that it would take to post these deals) had to many posts, big friggin deal. so now all DD deals have to be in one thread unless we post deals that have already been posted by a member but have been banished to page 5 of a 9 page thread

Ravenous 05-10-08 01:16 AM

This is stupid. Make seperate threads.

We already did have both. This "consolidated" thread served to alert people which deals were active and which were about to expire. Any non-trivial deals had their own threads.

And thanks for your work doing these! You must really be bored at work, eh? :)

imho, this is a great suggestion.

in addition, i dont know why separate threads is suddenly a problem after, what? 2 years now?

please revert to separate threads because i fear change.

This boggles my mind also, since when did seperate threads for distinct all together seperate deals on DD have to be joined together after years and years of being seperate.Because a member dared to have to many(how many posts is to many 5,6,7) on a certain date.

I have seen 15 posts on a hot deals from amazon on a particular day on the front page of dvd bargains and nothing was said.Is the backlash because one poster was posting all the DD deals, well who cares, these are important deals and i do not think that people care who posts them(although they should, i am one that never says thank you enough, lol).

It is stupid to put all DD deals in one thread(it would be like putting all amazon deals in one thread)and Mods should know this,I really can not see the reasoning of this particular mod to be such a stickler for rules and regulations to not only penalize a member for exceding there thread starting count for a certain day or amount of time(and that thread count on he first page could change from minute to minute depending on new posts to diffrent threads) but also penalizing people that counted on those threads to be there

punit 05-10-08 04:23 AM

Is there any mod out there reading all theses messages ?

Well, I guess you proved your point because I'm searching all around, trying to figure out what the fuck is going on with DeepDiscount Deal threads.

The reason I didn't see this...is because the threads were consolidated. :)

The way it was...was just fine. I'm sure we have a many more who were not complaining, versus maybe one or two. DeepDiscount makes up for a large majority of deals on the net, so it should be an obvious no-brainey we have several posts when DeepDiscount has several deals.

When DeepDiscount deals disappear and expire...so will the threads.

Mods, this is a natural behavior of forums. They expand and contract, depending on the particular deals at the time. If we have somebody who just got dropped off by the Short Bus, and can't figure things out, well, they're gonna need to move along a little faster to keep up with the rest of us. If we're all going along just fine at a particular speed, we can't be expected to all slow down because a very small few can't seem to adjust.

Maybe we can have a "special" forum just for those who can't keep up. :D

really this is a no brainer...

Dude, we're talking about a deals thread. A DEALS thread! Where's the thanks for the member who has voluntarily compiled all of this information, for the benefit of folks like me and you, and who has been selflessly trying to keep it updated IN SPITE of complaints about it?

Personally, I do not really care if there are dozens of one-sale threads or one thread to bring them all (and in the darkness bind them), so commenting about whether I "understand" your passion about a problem caused by such a "rash decision" in a non-starter with me. I'm just thankful the info is here.

Step back, take a breath, cool down. You're getting your dander up over something that really isn't a Big Deal. If you really want to argue about something a slightly more substantive, I say that 78 angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Calm down guy no need to go off on a rant about a deals thread,i was just commenting on your post that seemed to say that if you just check the first page of this thread all will be allright and we will not need seperate posts for DD deals.

I was just trying to point out to you the reason that will not work

stingermck 05-12-08 09:53 AM

I will miss deals in a consolidated thread, and DD doesn't get my money, DVDTalk doesn't get the referral. Separate please.

dmkb 05-12-08 10:29 AM

This consolidated thread is lame - even with the search function you can't find a damn thing.

hilts 05-12-08 12:44 PM

One more vote (if it matters) against consolidation. We are not the Borg.

JazzyBill 05-12-08 12:55 PM

I think its fine the way it is. Everyone is not going to be happy but its better to be informed then not be at all. Thanks for this Thread and informing us all.

JazzyBill 05-12-08 12:59 PM

Thanks punit for this wonderful Thread. Its people like you that make life easier. I hope you keep up the great efforts in the future. People that don't like your threads I don't even know why they even bother to look at threads they don't like. Anyways Thanks again PUNIT with this Thread. I look forward to seeing future threads of yours.
Have a good day

BobO'Link 05-12-08 01:07 PM

^It's *not* punits' "DD Deals Consolidated" thread that people don't like. We *all* agree that it's a very good thread to have around. The problem is that punit apparently "broke" a rule about "no more than 6 threads started by a single member" so a mod took all the DD deal threads punit had started and combined them with the "DD Deals Consolidated" thread into one mega-thread making it very difficult to find the lists mnementh creates and discuss each separate deal without confusion.

:D Nice one - I totally agree!

westumulka 05-12-08 07:06 PM

Another vote for no consolidation.
I think it's a great idea to have one page where you can see all the deals currently running at DD - but I think it's a mistake to then put all the details of what everyone's getting etc., for each deal in one place. Why can't each deal have it's own topic as well?
I would certainly check the main topic to see which deals are running, but I wouldn't bother to check all the other posts after for any deal that I was interested in at DD. I only want to see what experiences or what people have ordered for any one deal.

DVD Polizei 05-12-08 07:48 PM

Why not just have a running sticky of DeepDiscount deals where only Punit and Mnementh can post in. Since we have DeepDiscount deals regularly featuresd, just have a sticky and it would be only one post where it would be updated by the Dynamic Deal Duo. :D

The other threads, where discussions of the deals, would obviously be just like another thread, etc.

punit 05-12-08 11:39 PM

Some new deals posted int the first post of this thread, folks. Free feel to start separate threads :D

DirkBelig 05-13-08 12:41 PM

Despite being cancelled, DOTD:UE arrived today. WTF?!?

This consolidated DD deal thread sucks hard enough to bend light. Absolutely terrible decision.

Edit: Seriously. In the Anchor Bay DD deal thread, I posted that Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate Edition was available for $3.86 at Wal-Mart.com when people were happy it was ~$15 at DD. A lot of people went to Wally.com and ordered it up as a result. How the hell would members be able to tip off fellow members if all we had was a link to the DD site and a post floating in the sea of other unrelated posts.

I've posted what I thought were good deals that go unresponded to; that's life. Message board Darwinism will keep things sorted and if any single member is actually spamming threads, they can be dealt with individually. Consolidating the threads and inconveniencing everyone to control one guy is throwing the baby out and still keeping the bathwater!

punit 05-14-08 12:07 AM

Trevor 05-14-08 07:40 AM

Hopefully the voices will be heard and we can go back to the way it was. However, if the mods decide they have to keep the rules as is, just let someone else start half your threads for you punit. You can email one or two of us the details and we'll take turns being the thread starter.

Personally, I never look to see who starts threads. Who cares about things like that?

DirkBelig 05-14-08 09:02 AM

Kudos to lena for actually reading all the words and properly comprehending my meaning.

Reacting to punit's posting of a bunch of DD deals in this manner (i.e. mashing them all together in this thread) leads to a legitimate question: Why does speedy1961 get to "spam" this board with all these Sunday ad deals from chain stores? Shouldn't there be a "Consolidated Sunday Paper Deals" thread where all these are put together for one-stop shopping? Yes, I do think that would be appropriate! Enough with the clutter of separate Target, Beast Buy, Circuit City, and whoever else threads every week; either group the stores together (e.g. Best Buy Deals Consolidated) or get all the Sunday ads into one running thread.

Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Acidly so.
