No go on 2/$20 but used the BOGO coupon at the Santa Clara, CA location. Also note that I tried to exchange one of my titles (Transformers, cut sleeve) for Shrek 3 and got rejected. I don't know if this is regular policy on previously viewed titles.

Ended up picking up Zodiac and Shrek the Third. Didn't really want Shrek but I'll be able to watch it a few times with my son without getting bored. My HW had very few titles available. Can't believe I forgot the more upscale HW that is actually closer to my house. Might go tonight.

Yeah, one I got was fairly scratched. I'm going to go back in Monday and exchange it.

I work for Hollywood Video and they should do the HD-DVD for 2 for $20. If they tell you NO then complain and show them the 2 for $20 sign where it says any previously viewed movie $14.99 or less. If you check the little books they have when you walk in there is also a buy one get one free coupon on previously viewed movies. You can get a ton of movies for little cost even if it is a dead format.

I found a few at my local HV (some great titles like Transformers, Black Snake Moan, American Gangster, and more), but the inserts normally found within the slit on an HD DVD case, were actually glued to a larger case. So, the insert was totally FUBAR'd, plus, I would need to get another HD DVD case (and print another insert). Just wasn't worth it to me. If Amazon does their BOGO, which I am sure they will, it will be cheaper that route.

Wish I could take advantage of this--my local one in Chelmsford, MA didn;t seem to have any HD titles for rental or sale--Blu-ray or HD-DVD.

I'm 1 for 2 so far.

One location I picked up:
StarDust
Smokin' Ace's
Zodiac
Elizabeth

The other location I checked didn't have any of them for sale. When I asked about it and told them the other store was doing it the guy freaked out and called over there and told them to stop.

Do you need to be a member at Hollywood Video to purchase DVDs from them?

Hit several HWVs yesterday, scoring American Gangster, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Smokin' Aces, The 40 Year Old Virgin, 300, Training Day, The Kingdom, and V For Vendetta.

Anyone know if they will be getting Beowulf on Tuesday, and if it's going to be included in the deal?

Also, will the BOGO coupon work for this promotion?

Also, if anyone is angling for a copy of American Gangster, I'll see what I can find to trade with you.

A Hollywood Video by my office had about 20 discs - one copy of each movie. I picked up "Shrek the 3rd" to watch with my daughter and "Zodiac Directors Cut" since I love Fincher and never saw it.

They had most everything folks here mentioned, but these were the only 2 I could justify owning. Hoping for some better online deals soon.

No Beowulf or Brave One at this location.

Thank you for that tip! I grabbed used the coupons in nine booklets from two different stores and got 18 HD DVDs for $7.50 each. I'm happy.

If anyone is looking for this deal in SE Michigan, the two stores I went to are on Dix in Lincoln Park & on Greenfield in Southfield. They still have dozens of titles to choose from including Brave One, Blade Runner & Zodiac at both. Though I grabbed the last American Gangster.

Here's what I picked up:
The Amateurs
American Gangster
Black Snake Moan
Blades of Glory
The Brave One
Flags of Out Fathers
Harry Potter 1 - 5
Meet the Parents & Fockers
Mission: Impossible 1 & 2
Mummy Returns
Stardust
We are Marshall

Every single disc listed above is in absolute mint condition. These discs were obviously never rented. Now all I need are replacement cases tat will match my other HD DVDs. Anyone know the cheapest way to get those?

I bought replacement cases from Sleeve City around Christmas. Right now it says they're backordered until June?!?

I picked up:

American Gangster
Next
Meet the Fockers
The Invasion
Elizabeth: The golden age
Black Snake Moan
Ocean's Thirteen
King of California
The Italian Job
Mission: Impossible 3

The clerk said they are supposed to get two copies of Beowulf in Tuesday and they will immediately go on sale so I will be there to pick up one and something else (although there's only about 8 movies left).

While looking over what is available on HD dvd to know what i still plan on picking up if available, i noticed no one is getting the kubrick movies at HV and none of the ones near me have them, anyone know why?

I don't think any of the Hollywood Videos ever carried the Kubrick films on either HD-DVD or Blu-ray. They primarily only have new release films in High def and carry catalog titles on DVD.

BTW: Movie Gallery is also owned by Hollywood Video, and they're dumping their HD-DVDs as well. Same bat sale, same bat prices.

Does anyone think bigger HD-DVD savings are on the way? Or will this be the average sell price? I want to see if I can snag any at my Hollywood Video... but I wont if better deals are right around the corner. Of course, there's no way to really tell is there...
