All store exclusives and freebies - 1/27/08 to 2/02/08

These weekly threads are for the posting and discussion of that particular week's store exclusives and freebies.

These lists will likely be incomplete until Thursday or so, since DVDs are released on Tuesday and one of us needs to visit all the stores to confirm things.

Links to the master list and to the previous and next week's thread are below.

Volunteers needed: I regularly go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and Walmart; but don't visit the other stores every week. If you work at or regularly go to the FYE/TWEC chains, Costco, Borders, K-mart/Sears, Barnes and Noble, Blockbuster, Hot Topic, or any other store that has DVD exclusives; I'd appreciate any updates you could give us.

All Stores - Thread for all movie cash and free ticket deals

Best Buy -
The Comebacks - preview DVD for Bachelor Party 2 inside case
I searched and found nothing else

Target -

The Comebacks - bundled with Gold Diggers
new re-packagings of various love story type movies with new slipcover and code for two free ringtones
new re-packagings of various love story type movies with new slipcover and bonus Scene-It DVD of romance movie questions

Wal-Mart has Daddy Day Camp packaged with The Master of Disguise. Also The Comebacks is packaged with another movie, but I can't remember which one now. to both of them, I say.

For the Bachelor Party 2 preview disc that comes with The Comebacks, is it packed in with the movie? Or can you get it seperately like at checkout?

To be honest, and sorry to get sort of off topic, but I am actually thinking of giving this whole exclusive stuff up. And space is the big reason (although perhaps others reasons should be more important).

It takes a heck of a lot of time to track down all these things, organize them, post here, etc. I'm already paying for a storage site, and seriously, if I keep stuff at a storage site, how much do a really need it?

So don't be surprised if I give all this up someday.

I'll be accused of being egotistical and controlling no matter what I say here, but I'll admit I do have a certain amount of pride in helping to keep these threads complete the last couple years. I deserve no more credit than any of you that contribute now or any of the original "exclusive thread" starters from years past. I'd love to have a volunteer to take over if I do "retire". You all might decide to scrap my threads and start over, but if you decide to keep the same formats I'd be happy to provide my templates and formatted lists.

Inside the case supposedly, I haven't opened mine yet. I'm trying to resist and hopefully return it, as The Comebacks does not look like the type of movie that I would enjoy or want to encourage Hollywood to make more of.

Now I remember - it was the "National Lampoon" movie Gold Diggers.

Updated Wal-Mart.

Thanks for the comments Hindolio. I'm sure I'll get a second wind and get motivated again, but I would like to have an exit strategy ready if someone wants to volunteer.

It's Friday, so I'll go ahead and create next week's thread as well.

Edit to add: Just wanted to draw more attention to the new exclusive disc in the WalMart repackagings of those romantic comedies.

FYI, Borders is the exclusive seller of the This American Life: Season One DVD, which was released on Tuesday (1/29) -- I think their window of exclusivity lasts for six months.

I'm not sure where to post information like this, but I just bought the limited edition of "Halloween" at Circuit City in Culver City, CA today. They still had a bunch of copies left. I'm guessing that other stores still have a bunch also.

Is it appropriate to post sightings of previous-week's exclusives in the most recent topic? It hardly seems worth tracking down the specific week that the exclusive occurred. Still, I'm not sure if it's helpfule to put it here, as this topic will be obsolete soon. What do you all think? I run into left-over exclusives every now and then and would like to tell people.

what ever happened to the thread for oop-dvd-sightings? iirc, people would post their finds and the cost plus shipping for anyone who might be interested.

I think it would be ok to mention older exclusives in the current weeks thread.

I'm ocd, so I'd also put it in the thread dedicated to that DVD release, since that is where people looking for a certain exclusive of that release may look. I'd also put it in the weekly exclusive thread for the week it came out, but I wouldn't expect anyone else to do that.
