Wonder if they will rotate the selections one more time before this is up? I would love to pick up a couple Kubricks that I didn't buy on street date (and I'm kicking myself now for ordering a whole bunch of stuff back in Oct that I haven't even cracked the shrinkwarp on yet). |
honestly, it wasn't imperative- but I went ahead and ordered the two box sets ayway.
are the titles shrinkwrapped individually, or are they loose? Do they have the security stickers? I have Prime, so I won't even bother to wait for these to come in before listing them for sale, I just have to know whether I can advertise the rest as being new and sealed, or new but open. |
I went ahead and ordered The Searchers and The Wild Bunch. I'd love to see some more titles added to this sale, like some Kubricks maybe. I'd go freakin' crazy if that happened.

Departed + 300 = $23.95
SOLD! |
Didn't really want to get any of these, since I would prefer the HD-DVD versions, but couldn't pass up the 2 "Best of..." sets for about $7 per movie. Granted I only want maybe 5 or 6 of them, but the others should make good trade fodder.

But this is a sale on Warner discs, and that studio is format neutral, not a "Blu-ray studio". So I don't think your logic applies here. Actually, I have no idea why the sale is only on Warner's BDs and not their HD DVDs. At any rate, I picked up THE WILD BUNCH and ENTER THE DRAGON for ten bucks each. :D |

Damn, I wish I had gotten to the sale before Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was taken off. Instead I nabbed A Scanner Darkly and TMNT.
|
Blood Diamond + Million Dollar Baby also threw in POTC-AWE =$43.90

They need to put some more blu-rays up!
|
Enter the Dragon and Viva Las Vegas! Bruce and Elvis!
|
They took off the 2 box sets. Here's to hoping they add two more ;)

I've been fooled by the first few days of this sale into checking the 'for sale' titles every 3-6 hours. And it hasn't changed in several days... sigh.
|
Uhh....I recommend you check again. It's up to 115 titles now!
Lots of Sony titles added. Monty Python's Life Of Brian is one of the titles. Hell yeah! 20 Million Miles To Earth is also included. |
Well I thought I was done but I gave in and bought Into The Blue and Stealth for $17.95.
|
Monty Python's Life of Brian finally got me to place an order. 4 discs for under USD56 shipped makes for a damn good buy!

if I had to guess as to the reason why there are so many more sales on the Bd side I would attribute it to the liklier higher set-up costs of that format which would make small runs more expensive. There could also be a subsidy program in place that gives the largest breaks on much larger runs. Maybe it makes sense for Warner to have 4 times the number of produced copies of something like the Wild Bunch on Bd since the per unit cost is much cheaper that way, and the base is installed even if demand doesn't currently exist- as opposed to the HD DVD side which has a bit of demand, but is still slowly expanding its base.
In any case, it is likely in Sonys (or whoever the replicator is) interest to have Warner take more printed discs at once- than do a short run. and wait for them to re-order. The only problem for Warner is storage until they are packaged and shipped to a distrib- but even then 10-20,000 printed discs on a spindle across 40 or 50 titles, could still easily fit in the space of a small garage. |
Ordered Enter the Dragon and Underworld. I wanted Life of Brian, but when I went to the checkout page, it said the entire order would be shipped on Feb. 4. I didn't want to pay extra for "shipping when they're available" so I just said screw it.

that was quick - no sooner than the no. of titles was increased to 100+ the sale seems to have ended....

I have bought so much stuff with all these sales that the February ship date for including the Life of Brian in an order is actual welcome by me.
|
Life of Brian is showing a Jan 29 release date; is that the real release date, and if so, isn't it unusual that it'd be in this kind of sale? Regardless, I'm in for that and 20 million miles.
