I wish the Twelve Kingdoms deluxe box sets would be on that list. Suppose I can hope.

In the new year I need to finish my Geneon colections. Don't have the money now because of the Holidays. But want to get...
Zipang
Ergo Proxy
Paradise Kiss
Last two volumes of Monte Cristo
Kamichu
Strawbery Marshmallow
And I think a handful of other singles.
Do you think geneon might put out collections of certain titles after they get a new distributer? Like, Zipang or Ergo Proxy?

EDIT: The only issue I see with the current Zipang release is the lack of a proper collector's artbox. (Ergo Proxy has the artbox with all 6 volumes available, so that looks good to go. I simply need to pick up vol. 5 and 6 on Ergo)

Should I even both to see the movie End of Evangelion? I am debating about whether or not I should pick it up. If I can find a good price for it (any suggestions?) I might purchase it and see whether or not the series is worth keeping for me. Otherwise, if the movie fails to change my mind on the series ending, I will be getting rid of the show. I loved most of the series... but the ending has me seriously second guessing my entire opinion on the whole thing.

IMO, no other studios will touch Zipang again. I personally really liked the series, but it was a surprise that Geneon even license this in the first place. The content of this series is not for everyone and there is also the problem with the ending. And I'm not sure what other studios think of the Odex dub treatment. And Geneon did release Vol.1+Artbox (w/mouse pad).

Even if they are on sale, retailers right now usually don't offer discounts of more than 40% off the retail price. IMO, 38% off the retail price for a complete collection w/cardboard foldout digipak is a fair price at this point in time. If the demand is high enough, there is no need for B&M/online retailers to mark down the prices any further. It's almost an either take it or leave it attitude.

The Eva Box Sets cost so much, it seems like a waste to not give it a chance to redeem itself. But since you liked the series about as much as I did, if you have Netflix or Blockbuster Online, you may want to try renting the movie before you buy it.
In my opinion, a good example of this kind of philosophical depiction through the anime medium done right is the ending to Akira.

i think, personally, you have to be REALLY open minded (not to assume anyone in here isn't) to appreciate the depth and psychological genius behind the last 2 episodes. Since I'm a psych major in college (about to graduate too), i PERSONALLY had a better appreciation for it the second time around because i was able to grasp each and every concept presented and discussed by the director in those ending episodes. And when i turned off the TV, I really felt a overwhelming sense of renewal in my cognitions about so many different principles...i mean it's so difficult to break it down to the tiniest possible explanation that i think im going to pass and encourage GenPion to take a break from EVA, come back in a week or more, and watch it one more time but try to take it in from a different perspective and pay attention to details about what all the characters are trying to say and the underlying reasoning behind what is said. That's really what i did...cuz i can honestly say i DID NOT like the ending episodes of EVA the first time i saw it...i was falling asleep. So this is just my 2..or maybe 3 cents in the discussion..but i don't want to start any sort of argument..please..O_o just giving my input as an overanalyzer of EVERYTHING (especially psychologically-thrilling anime like EVA
)

)I think you put that well. I studied philosophy and pyschology, especially Jung, way before college; thus, was able to grasp the various ideas being expressed. I find the series works well with the last two episodes if you pay a lot of attention to the other similar scenes during the course of the show. Then try looking at the TV end and movie endings in relation to each other. Each one echos the other.

I just returned from my local FYE and they are running a Buy 2, Get 1 Free on all Anime titles. They also had a number of Geneon titles at half off, including all volumes of Gankutsuou, Dear S, Girls Bravo, Samurai Champloo and many others. I was able to pick up the first 3 volumes of Gun X Sword(volumes 4-7 were still at full price) for $26.98 plus tax($14.99 x 2=$29.98 less Backstage discount of $3.00 + one for free). I'm going to check other locations tomorrow and I'll report my findings here.

Just received my box set of Nadia, The Secret Of Blue Water: Perfect Collection from Buy.com. The packaging looked like an 8 year old just taped together some cardboard, but fortunately, the tin was unscathed. One more set to put in my "to be watched" queue.
