My order for Monsters & Madmen still shows as shipping soon. Thats the problem with free shipping. The shipping is fast and free, but before it get out the door it seems my order must go through a pneumatic tube that sends it around the world for no reason. Not until then can they ship my order. I placed two more orders on Sunday within 5 minutes of each other, one of them had Black Book Bluray and Suspiria which shipped today, while the other one for Knocked Up 2disc and La Dolche Vita has not shipped. Doesn't even say items shipping soon. Just says items not yet shipped. And I really want that Knocked Up DVD? What does this have to do with criterion? Nothing, so suck it.

I really doubt these were "mispriced." Amazon was probably trying to shift some overstock - they have these short sales all the time. Everyone's acting like they're getting away with something.

Again, Amazon does this stuff all the time. All of the sudden a DVD will be 50% off for a few days, then it's back to normal. Granted, this is all speculation on my part. But it makes a lot more sense than a glitch that somehow reduces prices on certain Criterions - is it a coincidence that all of the recent horror titles were discounted? And it's not like they were reduced to .01 or something - then it would have obviously been a mistake. My point is, no one should feel guilty about buying these.

By the way do you work for Amazon? When can we expect overstock clearance for some of the other Criterion titles?

indy81, I believe you are correct...no point in advertising something you've only got a slight overstock on, and then having to make good on pricing when you run out of that item. By not publicizing (i.e., "advertising") the lower prices on these Criterions, Amazon has gotten them into the hands of serious Criterion addicts, and reduced overstock quickly.
As far as Amazon charging more (to whoever bought at the lower price) after the fact, I don't believe that's legal...I'd stop shopping there if they tried to do that, which they haven't ever done so far. To me, that is.
It would be great to have a thread which watches Criterion prices all over the internet, and alerts us when any retailer has significant reductions in price like this one. Not holding my breath, however.

Received my entire order today. Since I ordered early nothing was backordered. I got a Canterbury Tale, An Angel at my Table, Monsters and Madmen, and When a Woman Ascends the Stairs. I checked my credit card account and was charged the correct agreed upon price. I'm not anticipating any problems later with Amazon since they are actually getting money for these items unlike the infamous December glitch last year.

I just got my notice that Monsters and Madmen has shipped today. It probably depends on what you ordered, I'm sure some of the other titles are stuck on backorder which is why you haven't got a shipping notice yet.
