Usually the relevant information is on the last page or next to last page. I'll begin a new thread when the post count reaches 750.

I just tried to place the order again. The coupon (SL4692) still works apparently, but now I'm being charged for shipping. So I opted to ship to a store for free. But then I get the error again!

She sent an email to customer service yesterday. No reply. This is ridiculous!

coupons only last for 2 or 3 days so why would you have to go back more then a dozen or so posts?

40% off list price of the "John Adams" DVD (good both online and B&M):

LINK

Note that list price online ($63.99) is $4 higher than B&M ($59.99), so it will be cheaper to get it at your local Borders (if you have one).

Just went to Borders specifically to buy Cranford with the 40% coupon. Instead, I left empty-handed after the manager started arguing with me at what exactly constitutes a box set. (she said that it has to be individual DVD cases, *each individually numbered?!*, inside a box) She then started trying to convince me that $30 was a great deal on this set (which sells for $26 on amazon.com and much less on DD with the current sale).

If they want to be that picky about it, then the coupon needs to explain it.

Whatever. Lost sale.

I'm a little confused about this. Do I need to make a $10 dollar purchase, and then I get 30% off another item, or do I get 30% off the first item, as long as it's over $10?

30% off one item (highest price one) with total purchase price of over $10.

Further elaboration:
If you want a book that's $8.95, just buy something else for $1.05 (they have all sorts of little candies at the checkout counter) and they will still take the 30% off the $8.95 book.

Also, I'm sure it depends on the store, but my local Borders will let you use the coupon if the total is over $10 with sales tax, even if the book is only $9.95.

Yeah, and a stupid one.

I ran into this problem as well. I was told by a pretty angry store manager that every time a Borders customer uses a coupon, they lose money on the deal so as a customer I should simply buy stuff at face value and be happy for the experience. Because we all know that Borders Rewards holders like myself are what is taking down their business, not their business practices of handing out coupons on a weekly basis for 30% off of their items (to Rewards members only) along with treating the place like a library/coffeehouse.

Not to threadcrap at all, but what happened to you isn't just a local problem. Apparently Borders is losing their flavor for coupons.

I think you should call Borders Customer Care 800.770.7811 or find Borders Corporate number and complain, because that is unacceptable to go yell at a customer like that when they are trying to give Borders business.

I tried both promo codes posted by velveeta above: "Oops! You entered an invalid promotion code. Please try again." Anyone get them to work?

Are you a Borders Rewards member? Maybe you need to enter your Rewards number to get the coupon to work.

EDIT: I just tried it and it wouldn't work. Borders seems to be slow with their site. It took a few days for the $19.99 Blu-Rays to actually show up as $19.99 in the cart. Since the coupon is good through 6/22, I would try again in a day or two.

Yeah, but then I would have to explain exactly why I was there two times in a day using a coupon that specifically states that a customer can only use it once in the whole period that it was good for. While they're ruining customer service at the expense of their own incapability to restrict their coupons, I don't really see why I should shoot myself in the foot just because one person decided to feel big because of it.

Plus I went to another store the day after and used the coupon to no problem. I guess I'm just taking down Borders one purchase at a time.
