Apparantly www.bordersstores.com, where you could check store inventory before driving to the store, is not available anymore, and there is no alternative on their new website.

Way to go you fucking piece of shit company.

If you click on a title, there is a box on the product page that says "reserve in store." You put in your zip code and it will bring up the inventory status at stores in your area.

This feature is not as convenient as the search at BordersStores.com, but I can see why they would want to consolidate everything on one website.

Try this: http://www.bordersstores.com/search/search.jsp

It still works the old way (for now.)

Anyone else having trouble with the new Borders store? Everytime I try to go there, the store page comes up OK, but when I try to search for something, it crashes my AOL connection. I have dial up, but I've never had a problem with Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Christi...I'm not having that problem, but the site is slow and buggy (and I'm on a broadband connection).

Here's a new coupon (big thanks to "deltabourne" at SD):

THIS IS A BORDERS.COM COUPON ONLY!!!!

Edited 6/22 to Add...This coupon code is currently NOT working on Borders.com. Not sure of the reason why, but you can either use another coupon code, or maybe call their C/S.

You're right. I tried it too, and the code comes up "expired". I don't know what the problem is, except perhaps that Borders.com is really buggy right now because it's basically a new site. I guess you could try calling their C/S, or just use one of the other coupon codes.

They are having quite a few problems with their new site. They screwed up an order I placed last week and have been back and forth with them on the phone. I have to call their HQ in Ann Arbor to get it figured out. I wish these companies would get this stuff de-bugged before they roll them out. It's not that hard.

I'm sure most people just use the 30% off coupon w/$10 purchase, but I'll post the 25% off w/no minimum, just in case anyone needs it.

I'm not saying this snarkily because I really have no idea, but have you de-bugged a commercial website before rolling it out? Are you really sure it's not that hard?

Yes, I am sure. It may be time-consuming and expensive, but that's the cost of deciding to be involved in e-business.

Also, the bugs I have seen aren't minor things, they are really obvious ones that should be easily detected.

They just rolled the new site out before it was fully ready.

Speaking as someone who works for a retail chain in software testing, it's really not about "hard". The "executives" decide on a date and stick with it come hell or high water. Doesn't matter if we have too few resources, no documentation, no use cases, no test requirements, etc. It still goes out on the planned date because then said executives can say they met the date come bonus time.

I know exactly how some of our stuff should be tested. I'd need about 2x the people we have now plus 100K in gear. That's where it breaks down - it's all about money.

Any new coupons this week? I used the 30% off online one and it worked, but I'm curious as to whether there are any in-store coupons currently going on.

Thank you! Also still have my fingers crossed for a 40% off box set sale this week, I've been eyeballing that John Waters set and I think it might finally be time to bite.

FYI...According to a Borders employee who posts over on SD, Borders is now going to issue coupons on Tuesday to run through Sunday (instead of Thurs thru Sunday). I think we probably won't be seeing Mon/Tues only coupons for DVDs/CDs (well, maybe once in awhile, near the holidays).

Will add this, in case someone needs it:

7/6/08

Ditto!

I went and checked the Borders stores in northern Illinois (Bloomington and north) looking for a copy of (Blu Ray) Vantage Point and no one had any. I had a 30 % coupon but with the prices they had, there were no other BR deals to be found...
