FYI, all you have to do to check on the week's coupons is change the date & the amount of the coupon in the URL above. After "coupon"in the URL, it translates as 25%, and the date. Sometimes, you can change the 25 (or 20) to 30 and you'll get a 30% off, if it's offered. Not this week apparently. Sorry about last week's not being for DVD's. This week's is for "one item". No minimum.
Thanks for this... I used it to pick up Zodiac HD DVD!!

I totally missed out on the 25% off coupon from last week. Here's to hoping it comes around again soon.

When was the last 40%? Before Christmas?

Around 12/15 was the last 40%, which is usually reserved for promotional pushes on/around holiday shopping, I believe. And if the quiet closing of stores around the country recently is any indication, I think the 40% will be rarer and rarer from here on out.

Quiet closing is new management (ie, new president etc), not really that kind of indicator.

One never knows when these things might come around outside holiday season in the future.............

Ahh. Thanks. I was holding off on picking something up, but I may go ahead and use the 30% then.

Forgive me for being behind in my Borders knowledge, but do they ever have online coupons? Or can we earn BR points with online purchases?

As of right now, Borders online sales is handled by Amazon. There are no coupons available. Borders is supposed to break it off with Amazon and start up their own online store within the next couple of months.

Thanks for the tip, Fangs! As for my closing trend paranoia, I tend to visit a few locations each week, and it seems like the general stock is always dwindling, bays of merchandise are disappearing/shrinking, and so forth, but my eyes could just be deceiving me regarding this trend (or just new management/rules, like you say).

Nice to hear that my quote on the 40-off was somewhat off; being an in-store addict, I can't do without the coupons!

Some sections are being reduced in light of changing sales trends in general (eg, tv on dvd is outstripping movies these days) but there's also lots of changes coming down about placement, displays, so on and so forth. Or you might have a merchandising-lazy staff at your local stores

Will there be any notice when Borders moves away from Amazon or will it just happen?

For those of you who work for Borders...

Do these weekly coupons stack with employee discounts? I just came back from an interview at Borders and I was just curious.

Select DVDs - $14.99 with coupon through 1/21. Most aren't great deals but their are some recent 2 disc special editions listed:

No.
One of my fellow coworkers bitches about this all the time and maintains that our discount is completely useless because there's a coupon equal or better every single week :P

This is true if you're full time and have worked there longer than 6 months (our discount is then reduced to 25%, in exchanged for the lowered discount we get $30 gift cards every month) but otherwise a bit of an exaggeration.

However, there's zero opposition to employees using coupons/borders rewards/etc., so that much can stack, and borders bucks are 100% usable with discount.

I don't think this would actually produce good deals, but here's a new coupon for Blu-ray and HD-DVDs. Buy 1, get 1 half off. Expires 1/27. Of course, in Borders' infinite wisdom, this coupon won't combine with sale pricing, so you're talking msrp here. B1G1Free might produce a decent deal at msrp, but not this deal most likely. Anyway, here it is.

This deal comes out to only 25% off each. I think it's wiser to use the 30% coupon instead. 5% difference is not much, but it's still money you're saving. Just my 2 cent.
