I want to order a handful of Criterions this month but they are now "Out of Stock." Would I be charged by the sale price or full-price when re-stocks happens after the sale closure?

I know that at DD it will charge you the sale price when it returns to stock. I don't know the answer for DVDPlanet, since I have never bought anything from there. I would like to know how DVDP runs those types of things since I am thinking of going with them because of the coupons.

BTW, are there any happy customer stories from DVDP? Anytime there is a sale with online merchants people crap all over the companies. Like I said, I'm thinking about ordering from them, but it'd be nice to hear something postive. Thanks.

I like DVD Planet. I order for low prices, I earn frequent buyer points and I don't expect to see my order for at least 7 to 10 days later. Pretty simple stuff.

DVDPlanet will charge you the sale price at the time you placed the order when they ship the out of stock titles. I love DVDPlanet and in the very rare instance of a problem like a missing shipment or wrong title sent, their customer service has been top notch in my experience.

I'm sorry to repeat myself but I want to understand as clear as possible because I will be spending over *gulp* $200 with an UPS delivery. I won't be overcharged with Criterion discs if I order at the time of sale even though they are "temp. out of stock?"

Thanks in advance.

I went through with it, 10 CCs (approx. US$250) - now I am exhausted and worn out (physically, mentally but most of financially). *fingers crossed* on UPS mailing service and arrival.

Thanks again for quick replies. I really appreciated, cheers!

Yep, it's on my signature link and I ordered:

Au hasard Balthazar
Diabolique
Diary of a Country Priest
Mouchette
Rashomon
Seven Samurai
Seventh Seal
Spirit of the Beehive
Throne of Blood
Wages of Fear
Wild Strawberries

All the prominent titles from Robert Bresson, Ingmar Bergman, G. Henri-Clouzot and Akira Kurosawa. I also have another bulk coming from Amazon because their prices too were low and for some even lower.

The Burmese Harp
Double Life of Véronique
Fires on the Plain
Kagemusha
L'Avventura
Pandora's Box
Ran
Le Samouraï
Ugetsu

After a week or so I will have to guard my apartment entrance to insure my booty is not left outside careless, which has happened before!

Now that Fires on the Plain and Burmese Harp are on the street and no longer pre-sales, will DVDPlanet include them in their sale, as DDD has done?

I can't believe this is the first mention of Do The Right Thing I've seen on this thread! A wonderful transfer and one of my top 5 favorite films ever! This was one of my first Criterion purchases.

Do the Right Thing was one of my first purchases too, interestingly enough.

I ended up going with:

Rififi
Beauty and the Beast
Monsters and Madmen
Olivier's Shakespeare set
Spirit of the Beehive

I think I'm most excited about Spirit of the Beehive, it looks like it's going to be really great.

The Mirror
Stalker

I almost got Jigoku and The Burmese Harp, but I've already spent too much. I have to get The Burmese Harp sometime soon though

I picked up M. Hulot's Holiday and Monsters & Madmen on one order, and that pushed my frequent buyer points over 1000. So when that shipped, I placed an order for the Robeson box for only $20 out of pocket.

I sent in a bunch of dvds for credit last year around this time, and just now finished using it all up, buying 2-4 Criterions a month (making use of their "best" coupon). I've already made up a quote for another bunch of titles to get rid of, which should bring me another ~$500 in credit as well.

I ended up getting:

General Idi Amin Dada
Paul Robeson Set
Code Unknown
Funny Games
Stalker
The Mirror
The Sacrifice

Short Cuts
Pandora's Box
Scenes from a Marriage
Cries and Whispers
Harakiri
The Grand Illusion
