Thanks to you for giving the advice. I went to 3 gamestops in OC. They were about 5 minutes away from each other. First store didn't have any dvd's I wanted.

In the 2nd store, I picked up:

Master and Commander
Any Given Sunday
School of Rock

Total was about $6.50 after using my gamestop card

3rd store gave me a hard time. Found three I wanted. First he said he couldn't use the gamestop card because he couldn't find the #. I told him to ring me up without the card, what's 70 cents. Then he rang me up with the 3 for $10 deal. I told him deduct one of the DVD's so I could take advantage of the buy 2 get one free deal. Him and his manager said they can't stack the deals. I left the store without buying the dvd's and was talking to my brother about the deal. He told me to go back and ask for the corporate number.

So I did and the guy who was helping me asked "Is it because of the card?". I told him it wasn't that but I want the buy 2 get 1 free deal. I called the number in front of the 2 clerks and asked what the deal was. The person in the call center said it can be stacked. He talked to the manager and the manager gave me the deal. He tried to argue with the call center dude but he finally gave in.

DVD's I got:

War of The Worlds (Tom Cruise)
Falling Down
Nick of Time

$7.50

Great deal!
Wow, what the heck! I've tried calling corporate twice and both times they said that the 2 promotions were not stackable. Maybe this is a regional thing now cuz I cannot find a GS or EB in the CA East Bay area to stack the promotions? At one of the GS, the manager there who has always been very lenient for me even told me that he got specific instructions from the district manager not to stack.

How are regular prices considerted "promotions"? I don't understand that. For as long as I can remember three $12.99 dvds have been $30, three $9.99 dvds have always been $20, and 3 $5.99 dvds have been $10. If you actually pay their listed used price for most of these movies you're paying the new price or sometimes even more than the new price if you got the movie at a retailer. What is with this chain and it's inconsistantcy at all levels? Why did some managers get e-mails with instructions to honor the B2G1 with details on how to do it in adidittion to the regular prices and some stores claim to get e-mails explicitly saying not to honor it on these titles making the promotion available only to box sets and not "all used dvds" as the clearly posted signs claim?

Oh well. I guess I should add a "YMMV" disclaimer on my previous post...

Ya, me neither. I only lucked out on my first trip, but the CSR was a newbie. So he thought what I said made sense and manually discounted for me. As for the 3 for $$$ sales, that was put in place only a couple months ago. I think it was to take place of the B2G1 on dvds that use to occur every couple of weeks.

Guess you all need to move to Portland. The guys here know what they're doing when it comes to ringing up the sales, and in six years, I have yet to have any EB or GS store clerk balk at giving me both deals. In fact, the manager of the store I made my purchase at Friday night was the one to ring me up, and he actually got his calculator out to make sure I got all the discounts (the 3fer pricing, the B2G1F, and my card discount)!

Man, I would love to find HD DVDs used at EB. I've looked a few times, but haven't found anything else note worthy.

Put this number in your phone before going on your gamestop run and if the dumbass employees give you trouble call it right from the store.
I went to two of my local EBs and got the deal (first gave me a bit of a hard time, but he let it go through). The third one that I just got back from, however, refused to let me combine the 3 for $10 and B2G1 deals. They called the store manager and he said the same thing. I called the 1-800 number and they said the same thing also. I guess this is yet another YMMV, so even having the phone number will not guarantee anything.

Dude she's got a sense of humor and she works at GS. You are now mandated to go back and use this situation as a way to ask her out.

One last try and I picked up Lost Season 1 and 2 and House Season 1 for the wife. Not bad at all for $58 and change.

Tried to get some games today at EB, but their computer / modem / whatever was screwed up and it wouldn't let them run credit cards. Thankfully they all know me pretty well there, and they said they'd hold my items for tomorrow and I could come in and get them at the sale price then.

All in all a very disappointing sale this time. Most stores didn't have jack in the way of box sets. One of them had decent items, but the manager had them all on hold for himself, which sorta pisses me off. He had at least 30 DVD's put aside.

I wanted to head to the stores about 40 mintues south of here, but it was just too far to drive just on the hope that there would be something good.

Ah well, at least I was able to upgrade 4 of my Stargate SG-1 sets to the new thin-packs. Just one of the old big-box season sets is the same size as 3 of the new ones, and when you have a collection as big as mine you come to be thankful for anything that saves space and preserves all content (which is why I haven't upgraded my X-Files sets).

The 3-for-$10 bin has become my dear friend in recent stops at GS. They've got the same lousy box sets and new releases almost every time I'm there, but the bin usually offers something new that you'd entertain the idea of getting for that price.

I stopped in tonight and scooped up:

- Young Guns SE
- The Proposition
- Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

With sale and GS membership discount, it came to $6.xx. The girl working the counter couldn't believe you could stack the discounts like that. Speaking of stacked, she had quite a rack on her and shockingly, was neither fat or unattractive. I don't think she should be working there.

I stopped at 3 Gamestops and an EB Games yesterday and no one would correctly give me this deal. I tried to explain about the email and how it's supposed to work, but they didn't care.

Plus there were little kids everywhere and 40ish people complaining about different video games prices and availability. Not a good experience. I'll probably just keep buying my used DVDs at Movie Stop.

Sorry to hear that, I guess this is definitely a YMMV. I picked up 3 boxsets today and used a total of 20% discount:

X Files Season 3
CSI Season 1
King of Queens Season 3

Used my discount card 10% and an extra 10% coupon from the Game Informer magazine. Total was about $48 with tax.

Sounds like someone is a bit uptight. That is a pretty good one by the clerk, i probably would have laughed too. You set it up and all she did was bring it home. Cut the girl some slack, think about the clientele that walks in that place, be happy she isnt some zombie.

I'd be on the lookout for Edmonds if I thought anyone in my city would actually have bought it in the first place.

From: Slightly Off Center...
Picked up:

Resident Evil: Apocalypse {2 dvd set}
Dawn Of The Dead {Unreated}
School of Rock

Footloose {Special CE}
For Love Of The Game
Redneck Comedy Roundup 2

All were $2.22 each...

Okay, but here's what pisses me off...
I found in the $5.99 bin "Nine Inch Nails Live: And All That Could Have Been" {2 dvd set} marked $5.99 so I grab it and bring it up with the other dvds...

The two "kids" behind the counter see it and comment about how cool that dvd would be to get...

Sure enough, they can NOT find the dvds behind the counter in the drawers...

Yea, sureeeee...

I am 100% sure they will buy the dvd after I leave...

I was kinda pissed off at that move...

I'm guessing we won't see this sale again till thanksgiving weekend. I miss the days when they had this sale running for a month at a time.

Ahh. Well I dont go to the forum or quarry regularly. Theres tons around 1604 though so Im guessing the ones closest to that area. I saw at Ingram and North star about 6 copies each of Rome and Deadwood. I was pissed! Nonethess all the others I visited I couldnt find enough to justify a B2G1F.

Hey since were both in the same town maybe during the next sale we can email eachother on what we find, like if were looking for something specific we can let eachother know. I was looking for Curb Your Enthusiam mostly. Did you see any of these?

Rome is another one I see everywhere. BTW, stopped by the Forum EB today and they had Star Trek the original series Seasons 1 & 2. Couldn't pass them up even with the sale over. $35.99 each with the Edge discount.
