The most absurd part is how much money they take these for on trade in.
Many are like $1.25 or $5 for box sets. It's ridiculous to get so upset over a couple lousy bucks that you're originally making like 166% profit on anyway...Oh no! Not 59% profit! On a used item!
Sheesh.
Maybe someone can claim stores that pay more even in credit though...I dunno. I've never bothered, just asked a store or two around here what kinda credit they can give.

I just stopped by a Gamestop up in Hermitage, PA on Friday, and they were selling 3 $5.99 DVDs for $6.66 total. They also had 3 $12.99 DVDs for $20.xx. Definitely YMMV as the signage was just printed pieces of paper.

Anyway, I picked up the following for $6.66:

The Job - The Complete Series
Steamboy
Tomb Raider

Did a run to 3 more stores today.

Store #1
2 copies of Click @ $9 each (normally 12.99 each)
1 copy of Finding Nemo (normally $12.99) for free

Total after discount and tax: $19.08

Store #2
2 copies of Band of Brothers @$39.99 each
1 copy of Friday the 13th: From Crystal Lake to Manhattan (regularly $39.99): Free

Total after discount and tax: $76.30

Store #3.... this one was fucked up. The clerk was being an ass, saying how he was only giving me this deal because the guy at EB messed up and told me it was for DVDs when it was only for games, and then he got surly when I pointed out that it is most certainly for DVD's, and he'd know that if he read the e-mail. Then I had to teach him how to do the 3 for $10 and 3 for $20 DVD's w/the B2G1F deal, and he still screwed it up. It ended up being in my favor, though, so I didn't bother going back in and telling him.

Stargate SG1 season 1 (thinpack) $19.99
Stargate SG1 season 7 (thinpack) $19.99
Stargate SG1 season 8 (thinpack) (regularly $19.99) Free
$9.99 DVD's
The Lakehouse (WS) $8.99
The Lakehouse (FS) Free
Polar Express- Free
This should have been 2 movies at $6.66 each and one free

$5.99 DVD's
Room #6 for $4.50
Monty Python's Meaning of Life for $0.96
Pi for free
This should have been 2 movies at $3.33 each and one free

Total after discount and tax - $53.46

Thanks to the OP for pointing this sale out. I picked up the first two seasons of Deadwood and the first season of Rome, all in fantastic condition, for about $75.

That's complete BS. Tell the manager or employee to read the memo. It clearly states that the sale ends the 29th.

Or maybe people buy them, copy them, and sell the originals?

But then, if you were going to do that I'd guess you'd just rent.....

I've bought a bunch on this sale. Rome box set one of the DVD highlights.

Bought about 12 cheap Xbox 360 games to trade to FYE for 6 new games.

Found Hard Candy as an unknown UPC code in the $5.99 bin yesterday. Grabbed it along w/ Godzilla Final Wars (another unknown UPC code) and something else that I can't remember. $6.36 after tax and discount isn't bad at all.

I had trouble at a gamestop today that wouldn't give the buy 2 get one discount on the $9.99 movies that are regularly 3 for $20. I called this number 1-800-883-8895 to report the store and that store was told to give the discount. Put this number in your phone before going on your gamestop run and if the dumbass employees give you trouble call it right from the store.

I know it's sorta bad to say, but I'm sad that our local ring of thieves was thrown in jail. At least that's what all the GS / EB managers assume, since they haven't been in any of the 6 local stores lately, whereas before they were showing up at least twice a week. The rest of the thieves have stopped stealing DVD's and are now stealing memory cards/sticks. Much smaller, easier to sneak out, and they sell for a hell of a lot more.

Most of my local stores have stopped buying from them alltogether, to the point of having a list of who they won't buy from. The DM is apparently trying to get the company sued, though, as he's telling employees to call the cops if one of the thieves tries to sell anything. The store managers are refusing, though, as they realize that the minute a manager calls the cops, it's up to the company to prove that the merchandise was stolen.

Noticed this at the GS and EB near 1604 and ran across a few more similar ones at the Forum and Quarry. I ran across season 6 of Star Trek too many times for it to be a coincidence.

So the sale is through the 29th or is tommorrow the last day for it? I have 22 Gamestops or EB Games within 30 minutes of my house, so I'd like to take the next two days to hit most of them and see what I can find.

[QUOTE=Al Padrino]

At any rate, I got some titles I had been after:

- 61*
- Cactus Jack: The Early Years
- Superstar Billy Graham: 20 Years Too Soon

The last is the obvious winner, even without the deal. I took a chance on the CJ one, even though I'm not expecting much. At any rate, around $2 per title is a nice steal.

Great Deal on the Billy Graham DVD. I have been having some great luck with finding Warner Bros. 2 Disc sets and some recent Anchor Bay Horror releases in the 3 for $10 bin, and when they told me a week ago that I could get 3 titles for roughly $6, I went a little crazy.

Well, I just had to make one more trip to the EB Games by my office.... I'm so glad I did! For less than $30 TOTAL, I picked up:

Frasier, Season Two
Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties
Click
Taps (25th Anniversary Edition)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Unrated Edition)
Lucky # Slevin

And yesterday, I made another run to the Gamestop by my house and picked up:

The Shield: Season Three (hubby now has all four seasons released on disc, and I think I spent a total of around $50 collecting them)
The Little Mermaid (2-disc Special Edition)
Cats & Dogs (WS)

Hey, can someone tell me... why is it that these stores seem to have open but otherwise brand spankin' new copies of new releases on their used shelves? I've seen both of my favorite stores with multiple copies of new releases within a few days of their release... they're unwrapped, of course, but the security tapes are simply slit open, not even removed. Anyone know what the deal is with that? (Not that I'm complaining, mind you....)

As mentioned in this thread and previous GS sale threads, a lot of these titles are usually either:

- stolen
- from people who bought it, watched it, and dumped it

Thanks to the original OP for the heads up.

Thanks to you for giving the advice. I went to 3 gamestops in OC. They were about 5 minutes away from each other. First store didn't have any dvd's I wanted.

In the 2nd store, I picked up:

Master and Commander
Any Given Sunday
School of Rock

Total was about $6.50 after using my gamestop card

3rd store gave me a hard time. Found three I wanted. First he said he couldn't use the gamestop card because he couldn't find the #. I told him to ring me up without the card, what's 70 cents. Then he rang me up with the 3 for $10 deal. I told him deduct one of the DVD's so I could take advantage of the buy 2 get one free deal. Him and his manager said they can't stack the deals. I left the store without buying the dvd's and was talking to my brother about the deal. He told me to go back and ask for the corporate number.

So I did and the guy who was helping me asked "Is it because of the card?". I told him it wasn't that but I want the buy 2 get 1 free deal. I called the number in front of the 2 clerks and asked what the deal was. The person in the call center said it can be stacked. He talked to the manager and the manager gave me the deal. He tried to argue with the call center dude but he finally gave in.

DVD's I got:

War of The Worlds (Tom Cruise)
Falling Down
Nick of Time

$7.50

Great deal!
