I haven't seen any anime restock either and it's been a long but very long time since I saw Steamboy in stock.

I also saw some $4.00 cartoons
Little Lulu
Casper

I am also in south florida and noticed the exact same thing. most of the big lots near me rarely get dvd restocks and usually when they do it is mostly junk. they load up mostly on vhs tapes that nobody wants anymore, and sometimes when they do get dvds, they price them higher than other big lots in other areas of the country. I find this problem alot!! with the store at the corner of university drive and commercial blvd more than anywhere else.

went back to two locations in so cal today and found some new stock.

picked up from store one - torrance, ca (sepulveda/vermont):
-xxx - state of the union
-the passenger
-vertical limit
-gunslinger's revenge
-three burials of melquiades estrada

picked up from store two - torrance, ca (pch):
-stand by me - deluxe edition
-lords of dogtown
-godzilla
-philadelphia
-xxx - director's cut
-sniper 2

I spoke too soon, they have the stock now. Yesterday I saw new copies of SteamBoy & Zentrix. I also saw most of the $4 DVDs that Basaro Listed. I don't like this new $4 stock. Most titles are FS.

I also saw Memento, Joyeux Noel, DEBS, Batman and Ali so many of you might get them in your area

The Biglots you were referring to in Tamarac is actually one of the best ones in that area, but for whatever reason, they haven't received any new stock. I haven't checked lately though. I would keep trying going there because when they get new stock they usually get a lot. The problem is that they also get a lot of customers, so they don't last long. I agree they get way too many VHS.

The one on state road 84 is horrible. Probably the worst in the country. I don't know if they have the new display because that store is not even worth the gas. I wouldn't go there. Hollywood is also terrible.

There's one in Coconut Creek that actually has the new display but they had it for a long time, so I don't know if they still have a large selection. That store is usually ahead of the rest, and it is usually the best to check. (I"m not sure if they have the $4 titles though) Also the one in Pembroke (University & Pines, but that's too far already) has the display too. Also the one in Hallandale has new stock too. Both Hallandale and Pembroke Pines have the $3 & $4 titles.

I personally haven't seen any problem with the pricing in any store, except for the $2 and $3 on BF but that was accross the nation. Some titles are just higher than others but they agree with what people post here.

There have been 50+ VHS copies of X-Men 2 EN ESPANOL at the location near work for as long as I've been shopping there.

Anybody know of a good one in Southeastern Michigan? The Ypsilanti one sucks goats (outside of their bad Korean-made Gundam ripoffs).

zekeburger1979 03-06-08 02:35 PM

I went to my local one here in Muskegon and the pickings were pretty slim. I remember seeing:

Being Julia
The Passenger
Breakfast on Pluto
Where the Truth Lies
Iron Eagle

Any of these, especially The Passenger, worth a blind buy?

For $3 a shot, they're all worth blind buys. Depending on your tastes, you might not like them all but they all have pluses to recommend them.

My brother came into my work yesterday and told me that our local Big Lots had the Memento (2disc) for 3.00. I went there and sure enough, I also picked up Monster (2disc). Excellent deal, IMO. Also had picked up some Shrek cereal because Walmart quit selling it. Haha

and I recently picked up some "Shrek" m&m's from there. They have Shrek on the package and the m&m's are twice the size of regular m&m's

JohnIan 03-06-08 11:42 PM

Wow.

Quite nice to see one of those Wal-Mart style cardboard DVD bins at Pick N' Save. And all priced at three bucks. Most sway. And new. Wasn't there a couple weeks back - San Bernardino, CA.

Picked up...

Cruel Intentions 3
Where The Truth Lies
Wild Things 2
Wild Things: Diamonds In The Rough

I would've picked up Wild Things (the first one), but it was in full screen. I was hoping to find "The Omen", but no luck. Or find "Cruel Intentions 2" (widescreen). Later this week I'm gonna try the Colton store.

New $3 Sony Titles:

Mountain Patrol (anamorphic)
Touch of Pink (anamorphic)
Half Past Dead (WS & FS)
Ball Room Dancing & Charm School (FS & WS)
Cowboy (Glenn Ford FS)
Stand by Me (Deluxe ED with CD, Anamorphic)

I also saw restock of Alice in Wonderland, My Girl 2, and Now for Something Completely Different

Huge Restock of all Sony titles, it easier to say what I haven't seen again. I haven't seen The people Vs Larry Flynt, The Guns of Navarone, out of Reach, Mixed Nuts, Cruel Intentions 2, Savior and St Ralph.

FangsFirst 03-07-08 07:37 PM

TONS of new Sony/Columbia/Tristar stuff for me...a lot of Sony Pictures classics stuff (wide-ranging)
I picked up (and so this isn't everything!)
Little Nikita
The End of the Affair (both '55 and '99)
Things Change
Brother (Takeshi Kitano! apparently cut for violence (boo!) but the only R1 release)
Dogtown and Z-Boys SE (in a pretty aqua-coloured amaray, heh)
In Cold Blood (solo, for those of us who already owned Capote and didn't need a 2 pack that included it!)
Grateful Dawg
The Company
Masked and Anonymous
The Third Miracle
Truth or Consequences, N.M. (I've been waiting for a copy of this to come around, ever since I traded my original when Blockbuster automatically gave $8 credit for all trades)
We Were Strangers
Still Crazy
Bloodhounds of Broadway ('89)
Owning Mahowny
Breakout (Chuck Bronson!)
Bitter Victory
Zelary
The Statement
Winged Migration

oh and The Flower of My Secret and the oop (?) 3 disc version of Panic Room.

GenPion 03-07-08 07:52 PM

I think its time for me to give my Big Lots a visit. Thanks for the word on new titles coming in.

El Gray 03-07-08 11:37 PM

I got Blue Thunder and Charlie's Angels from the display in the Decatur, GA BL the other night... quite pleased with those purchases. There were no ALIs left at that time, though. Has anyone seen ALI, MEMENTO, or the 3disc PANIC ROOM in an Atlanta-area store?

gryffinmaster 03-08-08 01:45 AM

Usually when I stop by my local Big Lots for a quick DVD check, all I end up leaving with is a discount box of Ginger Snaps. 'Least the nibbles on the way home are a shade on the satisfying side. :)

Can't Hardly Wait
Hard Luck
Lords of Dogtown - Theatrical Version

Where the Truth Lies
Sniper 2
Wild Things - Diamonds in the rough

Anyone interested in buying me some dvds and shipping them to Canada? No Big Lots up here.

I'll pay $6 each for the following + USPS air mail charges.

Ali - The Director's Cut
Bitter Victory
Blue Thunder SE
Breakout
Casualties of War - Extended Cut
In Cold Blood
The End of the Affair (1955)
The Passenger

Thanks,

Jean Paul

Harold Chasen 03-08-08 10:43 PM

Geez - went by a reasonably local BL and it looked like they had not restocked DVDs since the last time I was there 2 months ago. Never can tell when stuff will show up.

basaro 03-09-08 05:49 PM

Add to the MGM/Fox titles:
Paparazzi (FS)

And also saw this in a the Sony "spring" bin in a store that just put it out, later than the others. There were 3 layers of titles in this Goffstown store, most I've seen so far.
New or mentionables:
Battle Of The Brave
Spun
Stealth (FS)
Monster (SE) w/ slipcover
Limbo (have not seen this at BL in about 2 years)

Have not seen any of the Sony titles that FangsFirst found, hopefully they are a little slow and will be here soon, there are a couple titles in that list I want.

I would say it's the same, I saw copies of it yesterday at a local BL.
