Absolutely nothing in Southern California stores. At least a couple in OC. Seems like ghetto country don't get good stuff

shyguy1083 01-13-08 11:50 PM

finally found creature comforts s2. anyone know if s1 also available? $3 is great for s2, but i want to hold off on opening it unless i can get s1 also. i feel weird having only one season.

i hear ya on the southern california stores though. NADA. i was hoping/wishing that i'd find some of those warner titles, but alas no. sucks to be me, i guess.

What are you looking for in SoCal? I found quite a few titles at 4 BL in the OC. But, I haven't seen any of the Warner 2 discs. At least not yet.

What's the consensus on the "previously enjoyed" discs? I can't bring myself to buy any of these. Maybe, if they were $2.

I was their the other day Big Lots in Lorain Ohio I didnt look at all but I saw "The Perfect Score" as it was in the front.

NeilJ 01-14-08 10:59 AM

I only made it out to 1 BL this weekend and did not find any new anime on your guys lists. I really enjoyed the hunt for the batman serial so now I have decied to find starship tropper 2. So thats what I am looking for now. I also have never seen any of the mythical james dean titles. I am hitting the BL I missed over the weekend in the next day or 2 so hopefully I will see some more anime for you guys.

Ken Cline 01-14-08 11:17 AM

Neil,

I just saw Starship Troopers 2 at a couple of BL this past Saturday. If you can't find it, maybe I can pick it up for you.

The "hunt" is part of the fun :)

I wouldn't mind owning Enron: TSGITR or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but I can't bring myself to buy them since the cases appear to be from Blockbuster. I haven't seen any reports on the the condition of the discs or artwork yet.

Those are the same 2 titles I was interested in as well.

Ravid 01-14-08 01:10 PM

I purchased Murderball from Big Lots and it was in a Blockbuster case. Played fine.

How did the disc look? and scratches? Was the disc printing stock, or the rental printing?

That's another one I wanted, Murderball. Good doc.

I haven't seen it at BL (or S2 for that matter), but it's currently $11.07 at DD w/free shipping.

Me too. For $1-$2 I would probably pick up one from time to time, but it's pretty ridiculous that the used titles are more expensive than most of the new ones.

Nuts, neil, too bad I didn't check here before heading out this morning, I could've gotten SST2 for you easy. gonna hit my local stores real quick tho, we'll see what happens.

PMing everyone who's found stuff for me, I've narrowed the field a bit further by myself

I've seen this one in the $5 bin at WM. You might save some time by looking there instead. I got mine there since one has yet to show up at the BL near me.

GR13 01-14-08 06:46 PM

The Big Lots in my area hasn't had much of anything the past couple months, but I don't frequently check. Seeing some of the things you guys have found, I may have to make a stop sometime this week, I'll let you know what I find.

FangsFirst 01-14-08 06:57 PM

Just for fun I found Mobile Suit Gundam v7. What the hell good v7 of the original series will do me (much like v10 of Wing) remains to be seen.

ivelostr2 01-14-08 09:39 PM

I found Momento and the batman '43 for $3.00 in Belle vernon PA...

I know they had planetes 1 and 3 if anyone is interested, as well as a bunch of other anime, i will take another trip tomorrow and write more down, I am willing to pick them up and ship em out if anyone is interested...

Nick

I bought Broken Flowers, the only copy I've seen in my area for $3 Previously Viewed. The disc looks as if it was never rented, no scratches / smudges, that I could see.

I bought it from Big Lots last year and had to exchange it twice because disc one had heavy scratches. After the third scratched disc I got, I decided to contact Bandai. I'm sending them the disc tomorrow to get replaced.

If you want to get it from BL, it would probably be better to go to a b&m store than to trade for it.

I've been to every single BL B&M within about a 30 mile radius, and only about 2 of those stores have not gotten in there pile of bandai junk, so I don't imagine I'll find it, unfortunately.

Ken Cline 01-15-08 07:13 AM

The BL nearest me has tons of anime. I saw Planetes, but not sure which one. I also saw 3 of the Yu-Gi-Oh 1st complete season tins for $13. I'm not much into anime, but my son likes it.

I'm still looking pretty thoroughly for v4 and v1 of Planetes myself...

Premise 01-15-08 05:25 PM

I have Planetes v3 and v5 sealed f/t if anyone is interested.
