Yeah i ended picking up The Band Wagon: 2-disk SE and I also went to two other Bog Lots I don't normally go to and I found Strangers on a Train. Each store looked to have one cope each of A Stangers on A Train:2-disk Se , King Kong (the original): 1-disk edition, and North by Northwest.
So, i definitely picked up a copy of Strangers on a Train:2-disk Se and it was actually priced $3.00 for spme reason so i was very glad to find that one.

I'm wondering if only the midwest got the Warner 2 dvd sets. The 2 closest stores to me in the Northwest usually get everything others report on this thread. The only new dvd's either store got in their weekly truckloads on Fri 12/21 were $1-$2 public domain films & cartoons; i.e. junk.

Hope the Warner titles make it up here eventually.

I live in central California and sometimes the titles I see on this thread don't make it here until weeks later. I always assume I've missed out but often times they are just really slow in getting here. It took about 2 months to get the At last the 1948 show when everyone else had already picked it up.

I hope to see the Warner sets soon.

I got the 2-disc version of Dog Day Afternoon a few months ago at a store here in Texas, but I haven't seen any other WB 2-disc sets. I'll have to check back in a few weeks.

so, this is belated and random, and I'm probably insane to have started myself on this quest, but, has anyone seen:

Gundam Seed 2, 5 [or anything except 10,6,8,1]
Gundam Seed Movie I - The Empty Battlefield
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Vol. 1, 2
Overman King Gainer Vol. 6
Planetes Vol. 1, 4-6

or:

Argentosoma 2

?
I can't swear by having fascinating things to trade, but I can finance :S

Let me see what I can find. I know I've seen Planetes 2, both Zeta Gundams, Mars Daybreak 5, and Overman King Gainer 4 at various times over the past months, but there's no telling what's still available.

If you come across The Squid and The Whale (which I've been too lazy to pick up) or the 2-disc Strangers on a Train (which I haven't seen around here), I'll gladly trade for those.

As an aside, the selection at the Lafayette, LA store sucks right now.

I guess I have a question as well. Anyone seen Mobile Suite Zeta Gundam: Volume 5? I have all the others and really would like the final one to complete my collection.

I would be willing to pay a bit extra, and shipping and handling of course, or try to trade something (If I can find it) from Big Lots.

5 is the only one I never found at Big Lots. It is listed in the Big Lots list in the ANIME Bargains! thread, however, so it appears that at least one person found it at some point. I picked up a used copy from fye.com since I had some leftover store credit, but I had to wait almost two months before the used copy showed up.

It was a bit painful having to pay more for 5 ($14.99) than for 1-4 combined, but I gave up on finding it locally, and didn't have much of a choice. You can apparently order a new copy for $14.99 through the Best Buy in-store kiosk (details here).

There's 2 stores in Whittier, that had good selections. The one Washington and Norwalk seemed a bit better.

Some additions:
Overman King Gainer v6
CHANGED: Gundam Seed 2-5,7,9
Gundam 0083 1,2,4
CHANGED: Zeta Gundam 1,2,5

Sigh, I think that covers everything....man, I'm insane.

I have a Big Lots in walking distance, and for the first time in a while, there were a bunch of Bandai DVDs. I picked up Zeta Gundam 1, Gundam F91, Gundam Seed Movie 1, and Yukikaze 1 and 3. There were a few more copies of all these (except Yukikaze #3), along with Witch Hunter Robin 1, Wolf's Rain 3, Escaflowne 4, Gundam 0083 #2, Planetes 2 (I think it was a special edition or something) and 6.

Others they had were one volume each of the following (don't remember the volume numbers): Outlaw Star, Ryvius, Fantastic Children, Scry-d (I think there were three different ones), SD Gundam, a few Love Hina specials, and Kaze no Yojimbo.

Stopped by today and saw a bunch of DVDs that have public domain movies with big stars...there's 3 movies on one DVD and they were $1. They had the second season of a claymation series I've never heard of....it looks like it takes place in a barnyard for $3. They had the 3-disc first season of something that looked like a rip off of The Transformers...and is anime. Those were the only ones that really stood out....

That is "Creature Comforts" a british series that takes interviews with real people and animated the creatures to be saying the dialog. Rather funny show, totally worth 3 dollars.

Just so there's no confusion going forward, volumes 1-3 of Planetes are 2-disc (due to extras), and 4-6 are 1-disc. Inexplicably, volumes 1-3 also have slipcovers, while 4-6 do not...nice planning on Bandai's part with the individual releases.

Printerati,

Have you checked on the Big Lots on Tylersville Rd in Mason, OH? (I mentioned this on the anime bargains thread.) They have quite a bit of anime, and they have Squid and the Whale as well. I happened to be out there for an appt, but it's really not that close for me to go back.

Duh, looks like I should have checked the anime bargain thread before I wrote this.....please ignor, I read what you said there.

I sure hope you find something, and I'm not sending you on a wild goose chase, however, I know for a fact that they had "The Squid and the Whale". Hopefully, it's still there.

Thank you for the recommendation, SeymourGams. Went back today and picked it up along with Christmas with the Kranks. I've never heard anything positive about Christmas with the Kranks, but I figured I'd pick it up for $3.

I'm sure they'll have something of interest, thanks.

I am positive I could find something better to spend my $3 on.
