4.88 horror dvds at wal-mart

Saw the display today. I can remember the following titles

Nightmare on Elm street 2,3,4,5, New Nightmare in keep cases
TCM(2003) single disc
Bones(snoop dogg)
Jason X
Jason Goes to hell
Natural Born Killers Theatrical Version

Edited to add that I did actually find New Nightmare in the display

There's some horror titles on walmart.com for 4.88 in the weekly specials section. Maybe these are the ones available in the store as well. If so, I'm gonna get the Hitcher, creepy, creepy movie.

My understanding is that the R1 release of the hitcher is particularly craptacular. May not even be worth $5.

Just picked up the following in-store:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003 version, not in the SE Metal Case)
Jason X
Lost Souls

They had Nightmare on Elm street 2,3,4,5, New Nightmare and one other in keep cases.

Plus a bunch of others I can't remember. Pretty much all the ones listed online.

I guess some people are finding these at there Sam's club (Even finding the SE Chainsaw with metal case) for $4.88.

My Sam's didn't have any of these.

New Nightmare WAS present at my local, as were:

Village/Children of the Damned (originals)
The Haunting (63)
The Changeling
Wolfen
Ghosts of Edendale
Them
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (daryl hannah)
The Hidden
It's Alive

and some more beyond that, but I can't recall them offhand.

Rather than creating a new thread (or maybe one already exists), they also had Universal DVDs for $4.88:

Darkman
Darkman 2
Daylight
The Hitcher II
The Last Ride
The Watcher

And a ton of others that I can't quite recall...

One more I haven't seen mentioned: House of Wax (1953) with Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) as a bonus feature. I grabbed that one, the Haunting and Village/Children of the Damned. Good deal.

I just picked up the following:

All the Nightmare movies including New nightmare....except mine didn't have part 1 (that's ok though as I want the infinifilm version that just came out)

This included Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

Jason Goes to Hell

THe hitcher

All 3 spawns.

I'll add to those Uni dvds--though with the admission that I could easily tell this was a mish-mashed 4.88 display of both new and previous ones:
Halloween II
The Funhouse (Tobe Hooper, post TCM, pre Poltergeist)
Snow White: A Tale of Terror
Prince of Darkness (Carpenter)
They Live (Carpenter, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper)
Shocker (Craven)
The Serpent and the Rainbow (Craven)
Dracula (1979 with Frank Langella)

and, for reason I'm still not clear on:
Elizabeth (cate blanchett)
All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
The River (?!)
Cry Baby Director's Cut (at this point I gave up trying to make sense of this display)
and Cape Fear '62--which I recall being 4.88 about a year ago, so I don't know if they just found those hiding or what.

In any case.
There were plenty more titles yet...but sadly no Darkman (just DM2...bleh)

No, those are snappers. Keepcases are the "standard" cases, all plastic with a clear sleeve melted on that holds in the paper artwork.
The great majority of DVDs are in keepcases.

Picked up "Village/Children of the Damned" today. My store was also selling "Willard" (remake). Don't know if it's worth my scratch, never saw it.

as long as you realize Willard is a half-humorous peculiar movie (basically, realize what you're in for) it's pretty good. One of those mis-marketed types.

Thanks for the heads up on this! I picked up the Nightmare on Elm Street titles {2-5 and New Nightmare}. I already had these but I couldn't pass up the far nice keepcases. I'll sell my old ones in snapcases on EBay. I'm a little disappointed that there's no Freddy's Dead DVDs, but oh well.

I saw a lot of the other titles people mentioned, my Wal-Mart also had The Mangler, which is the only title I don't remember someone mentioning in this thread.

Good sale just in time for the October Horror Movie Challenge here at DVDTalk!

There were some FD:tFN at my store...looks like what nightmares are appearing is random--or some people are snapping up particular titles especially fast.

The changeling mocks me. I struck out at 2 sams clubs, and now at walmart. Everone was pimping it in the sams thread and now i must see it and must not pay more than $5 for it.

I almost bit on THEY LIVE, but that movie just cries for a rerelease with a commentary by rowdy roddy piper.

Picked up williard, hope to get it signed when What is IT? comes to LA in december. I hope he signs stuff without having to pony up for his books in the signing.

I believe the R2 HAS a commentary with carpenter/piper.
I'm not sure offhand and too lazy at the moment to double check myself, but I'm sure the details are out there, heh
