Can anyone comment on Fushigi Yugi? 52 episodes for $32 is really, really tempting. AnimeOnDVD seems to really like it as well. Comments?

I have seen the entire series a long time ago! I thought it was pretty good and enjoyable. This is also an older anime series from mid-90s with the genre of more less for Shoujo. The sereis also has a mixture of adventure, drama, fantasy, and romance. The boxset for this series is always overpriced. $4 per volume is really hard to pass out for this series. And don't forget Eikoden is also included in this sale as well!

Shawne Kleckner just posted over at AOD stating that to keep an eye on the listed Geneon sale items. They may be adding more titles toward the end of the sale!

A poster over at AOD was whining that certain volumes that he needed weren't part of this sale. Shawne replied that he should check back toward the end of the sale. It would appear that there will be updates to the list, so keep checking.

EDIT: You monitor the AOD board just like me, WTK and you're not as long-winded in your reply as I am.

I really enjoyed FY; bought the original box sets long ago (all....4 I think it was). My husband comments that it was a lot of "Miaka!" & "Tamahome!" yelling throughout the series (he still occassionally brings it up lol).

However, despite the repetitive name yelling, it's a fun adventure for the most part IMO.

And without the sales tax, and waste of gas going all around town! I think the Signature series are just a rerelease. So go for the non-signature releases if they have them. I suppose for $16 I should pick up Lain, but I just don't have a good vibe about it...

This isn't good... I already have another order in my waiting list....

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue x7
Fushigi Yugi x9
Niea Under 7 x4
El Hazard: The Wanderers x4
+
(either Appleseed, another movie, or what I'd really like; Tenchi OVA vol 2 / it seems odd that the first two movies are up and vol 3+4 OVA, maybe it was a mistake?)

Any idea which Geneon titles are not included in the sale? It might be helpful to come up with a list so we can keep our eyes out.

If Shawne puts up anymore titles, he'd be compromising the security of some people's livelihood. *cough*me*cough* I honestly hope nothing else goes up.

Definitely get the regular versions. I'm here to enable you, get Lain! It's a strange(in a good way) series that I rather enjoyed. It also has a GREAT opening song. Here's a link to a detailed review-

Pfft. It'd be nice if he'd at least put up Stellvia Vol. 7 & 8. I don't get why the first 6 volumes are part of the sale, but the last 2 aren't? Curious!

JBM-

I highly doubt that Shawne would put Gun X Sword on the list since the first volume came out in June. If he doesn't include Champloo, you can get all 7 volumes as enrollment selections at CH. I would recommend that you get the 3 Enishi DVDs. It's obviously a continuation of the Ai Yori Aoshi series, but you can still enjoy it without having seen the Aoshi set. For $12-$15, it's a no-brainer, IMO.:

I'm hoping for the Girls Bravo series to show up so I can avoid having to buy the box set in November.

Well, I doubt he'll include most if not all of those... Like I said, it's more a reference to MYSELF. As for the Enishi series, I know it's a continuation, but I don't want to buy those until I have the original series... And I'm not going to put in another order unless there are enough titles to make it worthwhile, that I -really- want. That's 3 titles, and I'm sure I could find others, but I'm low on cash, so I don't need those right away.

I'm also aware of the CH deal since it's been mentioned a few times before, so thanks, but I'd rather avoid that route at the moment as well.

Yeah, I've read up extensively on Lain. Didn't buy it during the last combo pack at rightstuf though. I am a sucker for good opening songs; you have found my weakness. I'll probably wait a week and see if anything else is added, and make a decision from there.

If there's anything else I'd like them to add it would have to be Ai Yori Aoshi. I don't really need to start (anymore than I already just bought) new series' as I've now got over 100+ DVDs to watch yet.

This is really quite sad though, I have no self-control when it comes to cheap anime. I'm normally a very frugal person.

I'm pretty sure the DVDs are EXACTLY the same. The only difference is there's a red banner on the front case saying: "Signature Series". I bought the two different versions of Tenchi OVA vol 1 at Dollar General because I thought they were somehow different. But, to my disappointment, no difference at all.

If you're looking for consistency, I would get all Signature Series, but if you don't like the red banners and can stand having just one with a red banner, I'd get the other three non-SS and the one SS.

Edit: It's also possible the Vol. 3 (non-SS) could come back in stock, but I wouldn't -count- on that happening.
