Yep, that's new. I actually had the old page open at $9.99 and refreshed to see $6.99. People may want to hold out for a bit and double-check their titles. It looks like they're still updating the sale over there.

I notice a few people buying Kubrick's The Killing. If you have an account with Columbia House's ch.com club, it is $4.71 with free shipping. For some reason Columbia House shows a list price of $7.95 for this title along with several other MGM titles that are part of this sale.

If you search the movie it might show up as $9.99, then click on it and it might show $6.99.

Most of this stuff is available at CH - anything special here that isn't?

Killer's Kiss is not available from Columbia House, which is why it's the one title I ordered from DDD.

It sucks that the Midnite Movies are on Backorder. I hope they get some more. I bought about 20 of them at the last 20% off sale for $8 a piece. Thanks again to the OP and the "list all" person.

many thanks, Cupon.

"Not only is it a pain in the ass to navigate, but who in the hell sorts by 'the' when sorting alphabetically... "

I totally agree, Paul. I've posted the same beef a while back but others defended the system. I guess we're in the minority.
Well... add 1 to the "minority"... It bugs the crap out of me! I've complained to numerous sites (CH among them. They've since seen the error of their ways.) about this practice pointing out that this is NOT the correct way to alphabetize. I guess all the naysayers flunked alphabetizing in school.

Roadhouse just had a pretty nifty re-release as a "Deluxe Edition."

I just looked back over the list and I guess I completely missed the "L" section because I saw a couple of interesting items that I missed the first time around. I'm thinking about getting Last Tango in Paris and The Last Waltz in addtion to the dozen or so movied I picked up earlier. Last week I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anything for a while because I was going to set aside some money for the Herzog/Kinski set and the Werner Herzog Collection, but then this sale came along and kind of threw my plans out the window. My wishlist for box sets is growing larger because there always seems to be sales for the cheapo titles that I always buy stuff from, but the box sets like that never seem to go on sale. If only I had enough willpower to force myself to sit out of the sale and wait for the 20% off sale to get the box sets. Oh well.

MGM's VERY MERRY MUPPET CHRISTMAS is pan and scan (even though it was filmed for widescreen tv). It's available in an anamorphic widescreen transfer in R2.

The Ghost World release is pretty darn good ... anamorphic, featurette, deleted/alternate scenes, and a music video of the weird Indian number. I guess a commentary would be icing on the cake but it's a very good version IMO.

Does anyone know if the MGM Midnight Movies have gone OOP? They are Out of Stock at both DeepDiscount and DVD Planet (I know that's because of the sale) but they are also down to the the last 5 copies on hand at all the other sites (Best Prices, Overstock, Dvd Pacific etc) and certain titles, like Oblong Box / Scream and Scream Again are listed as OOP at DvdPlanet.

So anyway, I was just wondering, if DeepDiscount is NOT going to fullfill backorders, I'll go and get them where I can, sale or no sale.

Thanks

Some are OOP, others have gone in and out of print in the past, but MGM seemed to manufacture more if there was a demand. For a while there, some were Best Buy exclusives, then they were sold elsewhere. Sony got the rights to the MGM movies and released a couple of old pirate movies as a tie in to "dead man's chest" then the rights were sold to someone else. It seems to be unknown as to their fate, but the Double-Features seem to be widely available, especially in B&M store, even when they are officially OOP. Since there is no official source available, it's pretty much all speculation. There have been several threads in the "DVD Talk" forum. You can search the word "Midnite" and find more than you ever wanted to know about the Midnite movies. Personally, I think they will all be back in some form or other, since there seems to be a market for them. I don't know if DDD or DVDPlanet will get any more, though.
