Yeesh. Gotta let the wallet recover a bit from the Kino sale, but I might jump in on this towards the last few days.

Like a couple of other posters, I'm curious about the "Midnite" selections. Aside from the Corman/Poes and Countess Dracula, do any of the others have good extras? i.e, commentaries?

If you just gotta have the Charlie Chan Monogram stuff, the six titles in the "Chanthology" box can be purchased individually during this sale for a total of $41.88. The box is still priced at $46.14.

Anyone know if the midnight movies double feature of Spaced Invaders and Invaders from Mars has the same featurettes that the OOP Invaders from Mars disc had?

Plus, there's the whole issue of selection. There's quite a few obscure gems in the MGM catalog. At least near me, most stores like CC, etc. tend to carry mostly mainstream stuff, with a couple of occasional, random obscure titles. $6.98 with no shipping or tax is pretty damn good for most of these.

Yes, it does. It retains the extras for both films (commentary for Strange Invaders; featurettes for IfM).

Sam only did second unit work on JINXED. The film was directed by his friend and mentor Don Siegel. Not a bad buy at $7, and not a bad film, but it's not the finest hour by anyone involved.

I know a few have Richard Matheson (screenwriter and short story writer extraordinaire) interviews on them, that are short but interesting. Like on the Last Man on Earth / Panic in the Year Zero (which I thought was an excellent flick, and seems like it could be made today) DVD. Like previously mentioned, the Strange Invaders has extras. But not much else that I can remember. Virtually all great movies though, and absolute steals at these prices. MGM has done wonders on these flicks. I couldn't believe how they made Ghoulies look. My old Vestron video was in bad shape.

Too bad Sony has taken over the Midnite Movies and replaced 60s/70s weirdee flicks with Pirate films from the 30s that have never been played EVER at midnite.

I do not think you will be disappointed with Coffy. Very well written and well made drive in movie (actually well wrtiten and well made movie, period) and Pam Grier =

Very interesting commentary by director Jack Hill also.

Buy now!!!
Unfortunately, it appears as though the DVD is non-anamorphic, which is a big minus for me.

There is one absolute, MUST-have on the list...

Daddy's Dyin'... Who's Got the Will?

It's a sheer "for the Hell of it" buy, and a very guilty pleasure for when you've got an hour and a half to kill....

It's cool that a couple of you are picking up Killer Clowns From Outer Space. I saw that as a kid & loved it. Then last year I saw it in the Walmart bin & was so excited when I bought.

Is the Mad Max SE the best it's going to get for that title? Worth picking up, or should I hold out for a future release?

Extra wise the R1 SE is the best. However, R4 has FullBit DTS but naturally less in the extra department.

The best of the '80s teen comedies, IMO. Absolutely the best soundtrack. Good blind buy.

ETA: Just picked up the following:

HENRY V (1989)
RONIN
WINGS OF DESIRE-SE
TOMB OF LIGEIA/AN EVENING OF EDGAR ALLEN POE

dvdplanet.com is having a sale on MGM titles as well. They are charging $6.99, which is a penny more than DDD's price, but if you buy enough, you can use one of the coupons at http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=193 . This would end up being cheaper than DDD.

Link to sale

It looks like there is some difference in titles between the two sales. I checked a few of the DVDs I bought in DDD's sale, and they weren't in dvdplanet's sale.

Yeah, I have 6 in my cart at DDD (The Brood, etc.) and none of them are on sale at DVDPlanet.

See, that is a layout like what DDD USED to use on these sales.

I was prepared to cancel my DDD order when I read that DVDPlanet was having a similar sale, but two of my titles were unavailable and the other two were priced at $9.95.
