Gotcha, thanks. Their shipping really makes this a non-deal. I was going to turn around and use the $20 credit and get Lady and the Tramp, but the shipping would be nearly $20.

Ridiculous.

I ordered from Tower.com last night. Hopefully I'll get it on Monday like I did Kong.

Lecithin 03-31-06 09:38 AM

Ordered it from Amazon along with Brokeback Mountain for free shipping, the .27¢ difference between Amazon and Tower wasn't much and I get my points on my Amazon VISA toward another $25 GC.

Dorsalphin 03-31-06 11:16 AM

I just received an e-mail from Tower stating everything is on sale for the next four days. Looks like the new Narnia prices are $15.99 / $21.99.

Make sure you order in the next few days if you want these prices.

I don't know why, but the prices are back to normal today. Disregard the above.

Tempting. When added to the cart, the prices are still the older prices (at least the two-disc).

Jedizim 03-31-06 02:12 PM

I just went ahead and placed my order through Tower.com as well. I got Kong the day of release, lets hope they come through again like that!

Has anyone bought dvds from "DVD Destination"? I am just wondering if they have a good reputation or not.

I still show NARNIA's S.C.E. as $22.99 at Tower...what am I missing?

I guess the same thing some of us are missing in the King Kong thread where dorsalphin said the 2-discer was now $15.99 at Tower, but it shows up as $16.99 to everyone else. I'm not quite sure where he's getting these reduced prices from.

Sweet Baby James 04-01-06 12:31 PM

For anyone living in the Tri-state(CT, NY & NJ) area, you might want to check your local Stop & Shop supermarket. They had the 1 disc version of King Kong listed in their weekly ad for $14.99, but the 2 disc version scanned for the same $14.99. In the current sales flyer, they have the 1 disc version of Narnia for $14.99. I'm hoping that they will do the same thing that they did for Kong and have the 2 disc version for $14.99.:fc:

EDIT: You have to have the Stop & Shop card to receive the discount. You can get one for free at the customer service desk.

For those that haven't ordered. Disney shopping is offering for today and tomorrow an extra 20% off and FREE shipping. Two caviets are that you won't get 20% off the Narnia DVD, but off everything else. The free shipping is when the order is $78 or over (once the 20% off is factored in). For those that can find other items that they may want...it was a nice way to save the 20% and save the high shipping charges. I had an order sitting in the cart from Thursday...waiting saved me $25 in shipping and discounts.

Yesterday morning I received an e-mail from Tower stating everything was on sale. When I went to their site the Narnia and King Kong discs were listed for $1 less than they had been. I don't know why, but today they're back to their previous prices. I'm guessing it was a small glitch in their site that they caught, and since the movies were already on sale this week they didn't intend to discount them any further.

Thanks for the credit. Glad to see it actually happened. I kind of jumped the gun the on $9.99 Star Trek/ Matrix movie listing since they finally just got around to changing the prices that were supposed to be done almost a month ago. At least it finally got taken care of.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. Didn't get KK SE since they were out of it (will get it through CH with the current bxgx codes). Will check out the Narnia CE when it is released though.

Note: Don't forget MA :) Quite a few S&S here too and maybe even in VT and NH too.

Manzana 04-02-06 12:54 PM

Getting King Kong SE through CH with their recent special was the way to go. It's what convinced me to get it (when I was planning to skip it and wait for the upcoming extended edition). However, Narnia being Disney means CH won't carry it, and with equal rumors about a Narnia SE coming later, judging by the lack of good prices on the Narnia 2-DVD edition I will be skipping it.

I guess Disney would rather be exclusive with their DVD Club and prevent CH from carrying Disney titles (which translates into me not getting a good deal because it's rare that I ever pay more than $8 delivered for any DVD from CH), by having this attitude Disney has caused that I won't be buying this. It's not like I can't rent it for now, and it's not like I'm hurting for plenty of other stuff to watch. Disney and Fox have lost a lot of sales from me by keeping their titles out of CH.

Just received the 2-disc edition from Overstock.com this afternoon, for $21.xx. The free-shipping code and the 10% offer helped.

Shagrath 04-03-06 02:54 PM

Mine just shipped from Overstock today.. The free-shipping code and 10% off really pushed me over the edge to getting the 2-disc version.

gryffinmaster 04-03-06 04:25 PM

DeepDiscountDVD lowered to $23.15.

Not really.. if one is a smart buyer and look for alternatives

I give credit to Dorsalphin (who posted this info way back last week, with the Kong DVD release opening week

Dude... you are a big help!

I'll be getting the 2disc for only a possible price of $16.99 to $17.99 with the $5 off coupon

No problem at all. I'm glad you've been able to take advantage of a pretty good coupon. especially with Tower's competitive pricing as of late.

I agree. It makes the price very nice indeed.

ramivic 04-04-06 12:20 PM

Yes! Picked up my copy in Chicago at 8am this morning!!

Tower Records has the 2 disc Narnia SE DVD for 22.99 and you can use the Tower Survey coupon for $5.00 off any dvd or cd $20 or higher -

final price (pre-tax: $17.99)

Thanks again Dorsalphin!!!

I just got back from getting mine from Walmart. While I chose the get the Regular Edition and wait for a EE release I was tempted by the 2 Disc version as Walmart had it for 19.87. The cover was very nice and I liked how it opened from the inside and had the dvd tucked in from the inside rather than your normal slip cover.

I still choice the single which was 13.87 at my Walmart.
