Unless, of course, you count the entire stock of books and most of the better DVD's / CD's that were promised to whatever liquidator bought their stock. Isn't it bait & switch or something to say that everything is on sale and then tell the customer when they come in that only certain things are on sale? |

The one in 100 Oaks in Tennessee sucks ass, they do have lots of guitars. DVDs they have some Puffy shirt Seinfeld sets for $60, but there DVD's are basically animes and they have tons of Bret the Hitman Harts and Robert DeNiro in The Swap. CD's were limited to K-Tel rejects.
|
I haven't been since the sale started, so hopefully there'll be something there for me on Monday.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know how to get the DVDtalk picture buttons (i.e. reply with quote, and the pictures on the forum page) to come up using the Firefox code to get rid of ads/banners? I don't have a problem at other forums. |

D'oh, false advertising is what I was thinking. |

Has anyone found out yet why they can no longer sell the books?

Ingram wanted them back.

Media Play hadn't paid Ingram the money that they owed them. Ingram went and got a court order to keep Media Play from selling anymore books.

Meh, nothing much at media play in enfield. Some decent deals on some things if someone really wanted them, but nothing I wanted. I mean, if Evil Dead II Book of the Dead wasn't $37 to begin with, it'd be a good deal. 40% off is like ~$20.

Went to the Media Play in Saginaw, Michigan today. Not many deals left, most everything had been picked over. I bought a few CD's and DVD's, but the best score was 2 of the Pink Floyd "The Wall: Series 2" figures and 2 of the Adult Swim 2-packs.
There was some TV on DVD left... a ton of Cosby Show season 1 and Fat Actress season 1, along with a few copies of Roswell season 1. Oh, and a lot of the more recent releases like Sin City, Constantine, Skeleton Key, etc. Probably because 40% off of $27.99 is still too god damned expensive. |
70 suncoast and sam goody stores will be closing at the end of january. However they will not be liquidated. All books have been pulled across all three franchises.
|
Yeah, I noticed a few NEW releases left still. I'm hoping it goes to 50% off or something more. I saw a handful of Batman Begins w/comic and a bunch of Evil Dead 2:BotD edition. I'm waiting for 50% off on that....hopefully.
|
Question - has anyone checked on what this means in terms of the Media Play Replay membership card?...Are they giving refunds? |

Very slim pickings left at the 3 Mediaplay stores that are in my general area. I managed to pick up a bunch of CDs last week at 50% off though. Luckily I like a lot of semi obscure bands, so some of their CDs were still there. :)

i went by my local MP and didnt see anything worth buying. Though i did notice they were starting to sale the furniture (chairs from the magazine section in particular). There was this 7 to 7 1/2 ft. tall Master Chief statue they were auctioning off, should have checked to see how high the price had gone
Other than that almost nothing left, and nothing that interests me that would make me go back. |

Several of the Media Play employees at the Rivergate store are now at the Suncoast across the street. They were informed of their store closing on a Friday, and were across the street the following Monday with a new job. Good for them. They always treated me well when I shopped @ MP. |
