It's not changing to 50% to 70% today. It's staying at 40% to 60% while a few things are going up. What I can remember from the sheet my manager showed me yesterday:
Used - 50%
Toys - 60%
Strategy Guides - 50%
CDs - 50%
DVDs and Video Games are staying at 40%, it was the first thing I asked.

I think something is up. I could hear them talking about me to other employees and they just said to try and not be obvious about what they are doing. Either the employees are holding back stuff, or they are shipping it back to someone.

I guess they're just not willing to really take a loss or lower profit to clear out the stores. The "nothing held back" and "everything must go" statements are BS.
I suspect a lot of the stuff that isn't selling is not selling because the sticker prices are so insanely high, that even with a 40 percent discount, it's still too much.

I went to mine again today. They seem to have restocked DVDs since last week. They're still 40% off. Last week I grabbed the last Batman Begins 2-disk in sight that came with the comic book. Today, they must have had about 15-20 of them on the racks.
I just ended up walking out with a couple 50% off CDs today.

I went in last night, and we landed up getting a couple more things. I forget when things went to 40%. As others have wondered, certainly curious as to if it'll get any cheaper (especially for DVD).

Anime DVD's are still 40% off at the Florence, KY store (as of last night, when you posted). I'm debating whether or not to pick up a series or two, but I'm not sure where to begin.

Media Play, Suncoast & Sam Goody were all owned by the same company. Media Play went out of business and was sold to a liquidation company who should have control of prices and sales. Suncoast and Sam Goody are still in business so they wont have the discounts Media Play is having.

Went back yesterday, not too much. They had a LOT of War of the Worlds and Batman Begins (some w/comic). I did not buy anything. They also had a bunch of 50 Cent crap too....his soundtrack and videogame. I did see a few Criterions also, but I don't know a thing about them, so I passed.

Question - has anyone checked on what this means in terms of the Media Play Replay membership card? back in mid 05, they convinced me to renew my membership for another 2 years, so now my membership doesn't run out until August of next year. Are they giving refunds?
While I know that these are good at Suncoast and Sam Goody, I do not have those stores near me, and the closest areas that have those stores are an hour away and have nothing else of interest.

I went to the Media Play in Middletown, NY today. They had pretty much nothing left. I did manage to find a diamond in the rough though. I picked up Volcano High (The MTV dubbed kung fu movie with the voices of Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Method Man, and Tracy Morgan) for $14.99 (regular price). After the discount and my $5.00 gift certificate from Replay it came to a little over $4.00.

The ads running on the radio are still claiming that "everything must go" and "everything in the store is on sale" and "nothing is being held back."
Unless, of course, you count the entire stock of books and most of the better DVD's / CD's that were promised to whatever liquidator bought their stock.
Isn't it bait & switch or something to say that everything is on sale and then tell the customer when they come in that only certain things are on sale?
