Seinfeld seasons 5 and 6 are around $27 each after the 40% discount at the Cincinnati Mills location. I didn't think to check the prices on the gift set, but I will at some point this weekend. Seasons 5 and 6 are the only two Seinfeld sets left at that location, individually or in the gift set.

Keep an eye out for new releases, too. I was told that they would not be receiving any new releases beyond the ones that streeted 12/13, but I found a copy of Nowhere Man: The Complete Series (release date 12/27) today for under $26 after discount. Perhaps it had been sitting around in the back for a few weeks...

My store had the Seinfeld giftset on a shelf in the back with some other overly-expensive huge DVD sets. The stand-alone 5 and 6 sets were in the TV Shows section, for $55 or so each.

Looks like my store won't have the giftset on sale, I'll just order them from Amazon tonight.

That's weird. At mine, the 1-disk was $26.99, ... only $1 cheaper than the 2-disk.

I picked up a large DVD shelving unit last week for $69.99 after 30% off. I have another one, so it was nice to have them set up next to each other. I'm going to go back and take another look around soon. I've still got a $5.00 gift certificate there from the Replay club.

I may have to go back today...didn't look that closely, I had to leave quickly....felt ill.

They had a BUNCH of Evil Dead 2 BOTD editions. Still $37-40%. seems ok for the price, not great though. I may have to look a bit closer.

One thing I didn't understand, they had Ed Wood (the Tim Burton film) marked at $17.99. And $27.99! Black and silver spine mixed in as well (is it true the black spine is pre-recall?). If I point this out, can I get a black spined one for $17.99? (there are a couple silver ones at the $28 mark too)

The problem here is that most of their prices went up with them closing, and with the percentage off, you're basically paying the old prices. It's a joke.

That's not really the case anymore, with 40% off. Deals were thin when the closeout began, but now there's a lot of good stuff to be had.

So far I've only grabbed stuff that they have only one of, Popular Second season and Stand Alone Complex 2nd gig vol 2. Everything else I'd be interested in they have plenty of, or is no deal, and I can wait.

I was able to pick up Batman and Batman Begins Special Editions for 14.99 and the Wrestlemania Anthology for $146.

Everything else they had left was over priced to begin with.

I couldn't believe how people were buying 15 -20 DVD's. I wanted to stop this one lady who had two baskets full and ask her if she really thought she was getting a good deal.

Then, I went next store and snagged the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition boxset for $36.36 with tax at Game Stop.

Amazing that even at 40 percent off that Media Play is still often overpriced. Or, at best, the discount simply brings their price inline with other retailers. No wonder they're closing.

The store in my area has been a madhouse - full parking lot, long lines to check out. Of course, it was never that busy before. I bet most of the people think they are getting great deals. Suckers.

All I managed to pick up was Casper, a movie I've always enjoyed, to replace my VHS. Sticker was $13.99, but 40 percent off brought it to $8.39, which was actually a "fair" price, if not a tremendous bargain - DDD's regular price is $9.50, IIRC.

Terrible prices on the Seinfeld 5/6 gift set at the Cincinnati stores, by the way. Both area locations have it for $119.99 before discount, $71.99 after. I suspect the Florence, KY store has it priced the same.

We did pick up a Mustek 7" widescreen portable DVD player for $71.99, which is not without its limitations, but will be worth it due to the number of road trips we take. Also of note, books are 40% off (with clearance books at 60% off) at the Cincinnati Mills store.

I picked up Criterion's releases of 8 1/2 and Wages of Fear, The Manchurian Candidate (original), Steamboy SE, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 2 disc, Haggard, Downfall and Chungking Express and the Deftones B-Sides CD for around $150 yesterday. Not too shabby; I was really surprised to find the Criterions.

Interesting...there were signs all over the place in the Ann Arbor Media Play today that said "for legal reasons, we can no longer sell books."

I wonder how long before its down to 50% off. I am waiting that out before I go and pick up some of the UFC and WWE DVDs that they have in stock.

I was told at mine that the books will get no lower than 20 percent off.

The Media Play here has its books off-limits. Signs posted saying they can't sell them, and the area is roped off like a crime scene.

Considering how the DVD stock dwindled from the 20 percent markoff to 40 percent, by the time it gets to 50 percent, there will probably be hardly anything left. Odds are if you wait, you won't find it. And just remember - even if you do find it there, you may be getting no deal at all, or actually spending MORE than you would someplace else. That should go without saying, as I expect the crowd here to be better informed than the masses.

Yep, even at 40% off, I was unable to find anything less than Amazon/DDD (especially since I would have to pay tax too).

I went back to Cincinnati Mills this evening, and there are now signs everywhere saying that they can no longer sell books. The book section is now taped off, but the 40% off signs are still clearly visible. I should have gone over the section when I had the chance.

Went to Florence KY today and the Seinfeld 5/6 gift set is indeed $119.99 before the discount.

Books are completely "off limits" at this location.

All the DVDs have been thoroughly picked over (except anime). It's amazing to me that the 20% discount moved so much stock. I can't understand why people didn't realize that nearly EVERY title was MUCH cheaper at other retailers.

Stopped yesterday. I saw they had the TaxCut Deluxe software available: $49.99 normal price, 40% off would be $29.99.

Ummm, that's the price Best Buy has on it every week.

I'm also kicking myself for not going over the books when I had the chance. My wife & I went to two locations over the long weekend, and in mostly used cds, a couple DVDs (no real big bargains there), a PS2 game, and a few toys, spent close to $150. I'll wait to go back again until they drop prices again (assuming they will..).

I went to Media Play last night and the employees were pulling merchandise off the shelves. I asked them what was going on, and they said they were just pulling off stuff that wouldn't sell.

I think something is up. I could hear them talking about me to other employees and they just said to try and not be obvious about what they are doing. Either the employees are holding back stuff, or they are shipping it back to someone.

I thought I read that they change the percentage off on WEDNESDAY. So, hopefully it drops to 50% or 60% today. Someone let us know if true. I may check after work today.
