Yes. Someone asked this about 30 pages into the first thread and got about 20 other people to say it was. Its great, fantastic, outrageously awesome.

You might want to read some of the posts upthread. There's already been quite a bit of discussion--discussion that prompted me to pick it up as a blind buy. Firefly's ranking in this thread's stats indicate quite a few of us are giving it a chance based on the great things people are saying about it.

ETA: Arsmith7 beat me to it.

Thanks so much. I'll give it a shot.

These threads are such a swirling information overload that it's hard to keep up with all the comments. ;-)

I've enjoyed the three colors trilogy of Kieslowski and enjoyed everything I've seen by Bergman. I just don't have enough money get them both. So which would you fellas suggest?

if you haven't ordered yet, i would say the bergman set. i was so impressed with the movie, and there are a lot more extras to explore. the transfer is obviously a lot better.

nevertheless, you can't go wrong with either.

EDIT: saw you ordered both; wise choice.

Thinking of pikcing up the following as blind buys:

Chef - Complete Collection
Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister (complete collection)

Anyone have any experience with either of these shows?

My 3rd small order:

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT-2ND SEASON $ 23.08 1 $ 23.08
SESAME STREET-ELMO VISITS THE DOCT $ 6.21 1 $ 6.21

One more tomorrow for some music DVDs and then I am done. I noticed a few people ordered the the T. Rex "Born to Boogie" DVD. I dont own any T. Rex but I have been meaning to buy something for awhile now. Would this be a good introduction?

While I'm not defending the Office Space "special edition" (the 'special' stuff is pretty pathetic), it does have improved 16x9 picture over the original and is pretty cheap.

And I'm not to the point where I'm waiting for "HD" on anything. I'll wait until there's actually a realistic HD option for consumers before I even start thinking that way. We may be looking at 2007 before things even start to hit the stores. When would the "HD" Office Space come out? 2009? 2011? I'll spend the 10 bucks now and enjoy it...

Best TV series in many years (with exception to Six Feet Under).

I generally don't buy TV series on dvd but after going thru it recently with a friend's copy this was on my list to buy immediately. The good thing about this series is it definitely has repeat value which many shows do not. Enjoy!

In my opinion, they don't compare at all... the second one is terrible. And Cube:Zero, while better than the 2nd and an interesting attempt at a 'prequel' , is ultimately flat and unsatisfying.

I'd definitely recommend renting rather than purchasing the sequels if you're curious. And maybe spending some time reading the reviews at IMDb, if you want to just avoid seeing them altogether.

There probably will be... on Tuesday. But to order it as a preorder would be silly.

I'm waiting to see if the price changes tomorrow first before I get this from DDD. BB B&M sale price tomorrow has DDD's current price beat, & I may not want to wait for this one to be delivered.

Thanks for the feedback on Firefly.

And Six Feet Under is one of my all time favorites. And I've only watched the first season. I picked up Seasons 2 and 3 from Costco recently during a coupon promotion. So I'm looking forward to watching those.

And as far as blind buys go, I do want to give a big thumbs up recommendation to HBO's Deadwood. I just watched the first season of that with my wife and we both really enjoyed it. Excellent all around. I makes me want to sign up for HBO just to see the second season episodes!

I just wish the first season was a bit less expensive on DVD.

I've tried calling, but wow. DDD may have great prices, but those people you talk to on the phone are pure ass. I've never talked to someone who even in the slightest acted like they wanted to help, or was not rude to me. They also seemingly don't know much about their own policies either.

This one battleax I'm on the phone with right now is telling me that even OOS and backordered items to not apply for the 20% off, and they have NEVER applied for the discount.

Yeah, their customer service, at least on the phone, is just about the worst I've ever dealt with.
Not that this excuses it, but have you considered how many phone calls DDD is getting right now? Also, considering how hostile this board has been towards DDD, imagine how hostile people have been to the DDD employees over the phone. As someone who also works in customer service I can vouch that it's difficult to maintain "a happy face" when constantly being bombarded with negative criticism and insults.

Is DDD usually pretty good about sending DVDs in which their digi-paks or cases aren't damaged, dented, creased or anything?

Not in my experience. The little wad of paper they use for packaging in their boxes doesn't help much.

I thought about that, for a split second, but it's not just because of this sale. I call them every now and then even when the sale isn't even going on, and they are just as rude to me. Not to mention that the basic details they should know, especially while this sale is going on. The DDD phone CSRs deserve all of the negative criticism headed their way, I'm sick of it.

Besides that though, they are of course a great online store.

Thanks for calling in for the rest of us. Did you get any answer on the DIRECTORS LABEL SERIES BOX SET in particular ? Or, as you post suggests is the right hand not knowing what the left hand promised a day ago, i.e. some will credit the missing discount back and others won't ?

I hope somenone at DDD reads this and says the final word on that matter.
