The error message went away and all is good. Didn't even have to delete my cookies (but I'll remember that for future reference). I didn't notice a price increase but was Gilmore Girls S3 always $29? I thought it was more expensive.

Can you order pre-releases that are coming out next Tuesday tomorrow, or do you have to wait until Tuesday to place the order?

I've spent roughly $8 billion at DDD since they opened... and I didn't get a postcard. :hscratch:

I wonder what criteria they use to send them out? Oh well, great news!

The Bus 11-10-05 12:07 PM

I actually did the above side by side. It's extremely easy to be able to just hit the "buy" button at the bottom of the reviews and move on. :)

It would be nice to have a thread listing great movies and great finds for under $10. At that point, I'll pretty much blind-buy ANYTHING. This thread got me buying a couple of other DVDs last time, so I think it's a good idea to keep it.

You have to wait until Tuesday. This is not a big deal, as there are so many codes available. You can place a big order tomorrow, and then use another code on Tuesday to get the new releases.

spartanstew 11-10-05 12:08 PM

I guess I shouldn't have ordered a DVD yesterday, eh?

The only problem is that they have them as preorder for 1/31/06. So no 20% off these.

Of course I add ANYTHING that interests me in the least to my wishlist (it includes the WB mega-set at $1,400 or so which I have no intention of purchasing) and seldom delete anything unless purchased. Purchases from the last three sales have been between $500-$1000 each.

I keep expecting to get a notice from DDD saying that I have exceeded their storage limit for wishlists but so far nothing.

holy crap.
Well, for what you have spent, or possibly *may* spend based on your wishlist, they are probably willing to provide a whole server to store your list on : )

One more question: based on people's past experience ordering from DDD, how quickly do you receive your orders if you use free shipping?

fuzzbox 11-10-05 12:20 PM

I've noticed a few items on my wishlist that are cheaper at Amazon, and I'm used to DDD having pretty much EVERYTHING cheaper, so I assume the prices went up in anticipation of the sale:

Arrested Development S2
Office Space SE
Married with Children S4

to name a few...

It varies. Last year, or this summer, I recall submitting a big (for me) order the first day of the sale and received it in less than a week, using free shipping. I ordered a single DVD at the end of the sale, which was back-ordered, and took a couple of weeks after they mailed it.

ChrisHicks 11-10-05 12:23 PM

woohoo!!! my list is back. I am a very happy camper now. :)

I don't know about the last 2 but Arrested Development S2's price is the same as they've always listed it for.

Well, when the sale started Sunday... if this one starts tomorrow add several days...

If I ordered on Sunday or Monday, I used to get my order within 2 days (I was in Ohio at the time). However, the later you order in the sale, the longer it will take due to backorders... could be a week to over a month.

Numes 11-10-05 12:26 PM

It's probably a good idea to mention sooner than later to use the DVDTalk link to DDD when you make your order:

Did anyone notice if the Twilight Zones went up in price?

During the last sale, they were upgrading bigger orders with free shipping to UPS. I placed a $300 order with USPS Priority Shipping that got upgraded to UPS, and a second order of about the same amount with free shipping that also got upgraded to UPS. I think the larger orders will get upgraded because UPS has better tracking and insurance systems in place, and therefore if the order gets lost, they have a better chance of recovering their losses for only a small amount more paid in shipping on their end.

I know that office space is the same price as it was earlier, still showing for 14 and some change for me.

mifuneral 11-10-05 12:45 PM

In the last hour Scrubs s2 has gone from 27.89 to 31.79. Nearly a $4 difference. Now, with the discount it'll still be decent (around $25) but I hope I don't see too many more changes like this.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 11-10-05 12:50 PM

top gun SE has gone up a few bucks to 13. but wizard of oz 3-disc has stayed the same price... for now. i may pick that up.

ASAPadam 11-10-05 12:50 PM

Prices that have gone up in the past few hours:
"Lost: Season 1" went from $36.87 to $45.36
"Desperate Housewives: Season 1" went from $36.14 to $45.36
"Mallrats: Extended" went from $16.14 to $19.49

potnoodlez 11-10-05 12:52 PM

I am disappointed they raised the price for The OC Season 1 so much. I won't be buying that now.
