No good at Clearwater Mall, FL and 9th Street, St. Petersburg, FL stores :( Anyone know of any in the Tampa Bay area that have this deal?

Minted_Llama 08-10-05 09:09 AM

Anyone had any luck at Target in Oregon?

You can mark Eugene off your list as well, tried yesterday.

DaveCandy 08-10-05 09:15 AM

just got back from centerville ohio one. Definetlyt looks like they had it going on. There was hardly anything left. None that I scanned came up 5.99. I asked a pretty red shirt lady to check the back and came up empty. the others around here (beavercreek & kettering) they all had a great supply of the dvd's but the prices were regular. I'm gunna call again later today, but it looks like, for target stores in the dayton area, this deal is DEAD.

fitzcain 08-10-05 09:41 AM

Does anyone know what happened? Was it a disgruntled employee or something that altered the info? or just a computer snafu....would be interesting to hear what started this "deal".....

REL77 08-10-05 09:44 AM

has to be a Snafu of sorts...

Target in Huntsville, AL (Research Park) was a no-go save the Jaws and Pocohantas. No problems picking those up for $6 a piece.

dvd182 08-10-05 09:55 AM

After checking both St. Cloud, MN targets yesterday and finding them to be well stocked, but with all regular prices, I decided I would not be denied. I woke up at 7 this morning and took off for the Buffalo and Rogers, MN Targets. Buffalo had all regular prices, but Rogers had nearly no stock, save for Charmed Season 1 and 2 Friends Season 5s. Those rang up for 5.99, so I grabbed them and asked a red shirt if she knew if they had any other sets in the back. She told me they were a price mistake and they pulled all the stock because they couldn't sell it at those prices. I kinda hid the sets I had in my basket behind my back, briskly walked and found the most clueless looking cashier, he rang up my 3 sets and I got out of there. I feel vindicated that I got in on this today after being shot down twice yesterday.

No - they will not let you make money on rebates. Some say in the fine print that rebate will not exceed purchase price. So if you go for the $50, you get nothing. But go for the $30 maybe $40 and you might (YMMV extremely) get that. No, they will not send you less, or a portion of.

Good luck if you try it.

dvd182, I'm glad to see some of the prices are still active this morning.

P.S., Talking to employees is always risky and usually discouraged so be careful. Looks like you made a run for it.

Jax update. I went to two of them yesterday. The one by the NAS on Roosevelt is a no go (but apparently someone else tried as there was a lone BoB next to the scanner).

The one in Orange Park on Blanding was a success. Funny story though, I grabbed a basket and was trying to pull the sets and scan them as discretely as possible. I scanned almost all the sets. GG and Friends and Sex was missing so I already thought they knew about the mix up. I was on the phone alerting a friend of the deal when I noticed a security guard and a red shirt scanning some DVDs I immediatly went to the cash register with the most benign cashier. Unfortunately I didn't think it was the one nearest to the electronics. After scanning a bunch of them they looked over and started walkind to me. I thought the jig was up. But the security guard just said "Hmm...I thought we got all of them" and walked away talking in the radio.

I got
OTH
Batman v3 (apparently v1 and 2 are not priced at $6)
Murder She Wrote (didn't see anyone mention this one yet)
Pocahontas
Marry Poppins
Jaws

How is the other stores in Jax?

The North side Lakeland store is also a go but there doesn't seem to be much there.

Did you go yesterday or today to the Boulder store?

johnson_design 08-10-05 10:10 AM

Bummed.

Scanned Friends S1 at price checker and sure enough, $5.99. Cool I was going to get all seasons. As I was walking back to pick them up the manager noticed and told me that they were aware of the price mistake and that it was fixed at the register.

Not sure if thats true so it may still be available if the cashier doesn't know about it.

Lucky to everyone that got in on this.

I thought about this, but since the display was absolutely raped of all WB sets but the lone 3 I found I hoped I could play dumb to a red shirt and score something. My literal words were "So I hear those Friends dvds are really funny, do you have any of them?", and got the line about them discovering the price error and not being able to sell any. My situation was pretty similar to tanman's, with me getting what security forgot to pull. Security was eyeing the area pretty well before I got there and perusing the dvds, so who knows what was up. What was strange was that the HBO sets (minus Sex and the City) all had their prices fixed and were ringing up normal. I tried those first and almost gave up, but gave the last 3 WB sets a blind shot. I'm glad I at least got those.

I just looked closely at the fine print, and don't see anything of that nature.

WB isn't losing any money because of Target's misprice, right? Target buys from its distributor and whatever price they choose to sell it at is their choice. WB should already have their money for the product.

I was just at the one on Ritchie Highway. I scored Monk season 3, 3rd Rock Seasson 1, Laguana Beach Season 1, And Remington Steel Season 1. I got 2 of each except for Laguana Beach. When I checked out I looked for a little old lady cashier because they would be the least likely to notice the low prices but there were none. So I went to the one with the young cashier and she didnt seem to notice. I woudnt mind trading any for Smallville seasons if you live in the area.

I might have seen you at the Fort Collins store checking prices. Did you have a motorcycle helmet in your cart? :)

pdutta2000 08-10-05 10:35 AM

Boston update - went to the Target near the Arsenal Mall yesterday and the shelves were stocked. Everything rang up as normal so I guess they fixed the prices.

scottp120 08-10-05 10:52 AM

I might've picked up Laguana Beach if I knew it was $5.99, but I'm not burning my gas at $2.34 a gallon to drive up to Glen Burnie again from Annapolis. I don't have any Smallville sets to trade. Thanks anyway

I checked Southside & St. John's Town Center and the ones I scanned rang up at Full Price. I wish I was still in Atlanta for deals like this because I could have hit 6-7 Target in 3 hours. Oh well, can win every time!

Any chance some of these stores are going to re-stock at these prices?
