That so many showgirls boxsets got shipped/picked up indicates just how badly they must have over-forecasted demand on that item ...

What makes you say that? How many legtimate places can you purchase Traffic CC from these days and how many do you think were ordered. There was absolutely no way Bestbuy was going to be able to fulfill these orders on a title that is scarce to begin with.

That may be so, but if that is the case, then they need to offer something as a replacment or substitute.

Will you people give it up, it was a price mistake that bestbuy caught and be thankful that a number of units have been shipped

Why do they owe you anything? Did they take your $7.50 + shipping?

Checked my order this morning, Traffic CC, Hoosiers SE and Showgirls BS were all canceled. Rudy CE (with soundtrack) is showned as being shipped yesterday. Weird thing Showgirls BS was being showed yesterday as being shipped and now its shown as being canceled. Figure Traffic CC and Hoosiers SE wasn't going to go through anyway so no loss there. Was hoping Showgirls BS would have, was planning on giving it to a cousin for his birthday as a gag gift. Oh well, at least I got Rudy, hopefully its not the non CE.

LB...

They made an offer, they held the funds for the offer, then they cancelled it. They wasted our time and held our money.

Someone offered you an item, took your money, then changed their mind. I would say that its a practice that is unprofessional (to be kind).

If there are no consequences or repercusssions for making a mistake, what is the motivation to be accurate in the future? They are in effect making their customers their de facto editors FREE OF CHARGE. Once one of us find an error, they just cancel any orders and correct the mistake.

Having said all this, I know you'll still disagree and that's fine. I have me opinion and you have yours.

When you placed your order, you agreed to their "Conditions of Use" which clearly states that they reserve the right to cancel any orders that contained errors. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....399#errorssite

My Traffic and Hoosiers were cancelled, but my Showgirls shipped yesterday (I got an email saying it was shipped, and haven't received a cancellation email). My Jerry Maguire and Knight's Tale SB also shipped, and my Ali DC is ready for pick-up. I haven't heard about Stand By Me or Rudy (with soundtrack)

Glad it's not just me... I didn't do the math, but I knew the authorizations were way too high. Hopefully the final charge will be correct...

My cc is showing being charged for everything even though they emailed me saying Traffic, Hoosiers, and Stand By Me were cancelled. If they don't take those charges off believe me, I will get those titles.

well they cancelled Traffic, Stand By Me SE, Hoosiers SE, and A Knight's Tale Superbit from my order. However, I did in-store pickup for Rudy DE, Showgirls Gift Set and Ali DC (I still have to pick up the latter two).

No big deal....as D-Ball mentioned, internet retailers have a lot more leeway (did I spell that right?) when it comes to pricing errors.

I'm sorry, but those who want a class-action lawsuit on a $25 price mistake at best are kidding themselves.

The deal was 2 DVDs for $15 -- they cannot just only ship the one they want to sell and and cancel the one they don't want to sell. Now some of us are stuck with a DVD we would not have bought otherwise.

I wish we could go back to the days where if they made an internet mistake that they would honor them. It seems only right to me. It's just the principle of the matter and not being greedy.

Damn, I almost tripped stepping down from my soapbox.

My Stand By Me and Hoosiers was cancelled, but everything else shipped. Traffic, Showgirls, Rudy, and Knight Tale are shipping from seperate areas. Good luck and thanks again.

I don't understand the "principle" that a company is somehow morally obligated to lose money on a simple mistake made by an employee.

I can tell you that you'll be hard pressed to find someone who actually owns and operates a business who shares that belief. Sites like this, that can generate "flash crowds" that make hundreds of purchases of incorrectly-priced items in the space of minutes, make it just stupid for a business to honor such errors.

And those "good old days" you're reminiscing about are populated by 800.com, reel.com, and a hundred other e-tailers who are gone, gone, gone. The ones that survive do so by following the same rules of good business as any other successful retailer.

A couple of things to keep in mind when defending retailers:

A DVD probably costs $0.25 to produce. Add a bit of artwork and cases and it might push the $2 range. Keep in mind that 99% of this stuff is produced in a handful of countries that have the lowest wages for workers on the planet.

The recording industry recently lost a class-action lawsuit that basically they were price fixing to gouge consumers.

When you call a 1-800 number for these retailers, more often than not you're connected to India, which has a rare combination of an englist-speaking population and workers willing to work for the equivalent of less than one dollar an hour.

That part is certainly true. I called to cancel what was left of my 2 for $15 deals and we could hardly understand eachother. Terrible!

Just received an e-mail from Bestbuy.com saying that they cancelled my Traffic:CC DVD due to a "system error" and "wrong SKUs" in there promotion. They also sent me a $5 digital coupon good at Bestbuy.com until Jan. 31, 2005 for my trouble.

Like some others I don't feel they are obligated to give us the price mistake. I am however under the opinion that they do have to own up to the mistake. These bullshit explanations piss me off. Fine, cancel the order, but be truthful about why.

Best Buy doesn't own up to their mistakes at all. Also, they never have the right stock in online... meaning like I said earlier in this thread "if it is backordered most likely it will be cancelled" I wish they would own up for the mistake on the preorders but I knew something was up when they had the "out of stock" listed on Hoosiers SE preorder. You might try writing them so you can at least maybe get a 5 dollar certificate for your trouble.

I agree...plus, most Bargain Hunters like us are what corporations like "Best Buy" deems to be demon customes. Losing our business for the most part would be a blessing to them rather than a loss.

A lot of the members here who got in on this deal only did so cuz it was a misprice. Most of the other times we buy stuff at Best Buy is cuz it's on sale.

A lot of us say, screw Best Buy, but when the next misprice comes along or the next good sale, I'm sure that a lot of us will buy those, if nothing else to stick it to them.
