Lets see i got:

Badder Santa
Day After Tomorrow
Hellboy - 2 Disc Edition

All movies are in great shape but no inserts. They came in BBV cases. I asked for DVD cases and got two. No 2 disc case though. I probably go a different BBV tomorrow and raid their stock.

Question: Is Fahrenheit 911 worth picking up?

There are two franchises in my area and one almost always does NOT run the sale that goes on nationally. When I've asked the manager why this is I was told it's a locally owned store and it's their decision as to whether or not to run the national sale.......whether this is accurate or not I have no idea- in any case, they don't get any of my business that way.

At BBV, the PVD's always scan at their regular set price. They then have to scan an additional sale barcode to get the sale price to apply.

I've been very fortunate lately. Most DVDs are in immaculate condition, with the exception of children's titles.

I always ask to see the disc quality before I pay. If it's too scruffed, I'll go back and grab an alternative. I don't worry about finger prints or light scruffs/scratches: my DVD players can handle them. I've rarely gotten pristine discs from BlockBuster, but even with scratches, I rarely experience any playback problems. Much of it comes down to what your DVD player can handle. I have two 2-year old JVC's (XV-S500), which hardly hiccup.

I picked up:

Dawn Of The Dead (2004 - Unrated - Widescreen) - previous rental with a couple surface scratches.
28 Days Later - . Perfect condition. Not a rental. Must have been a trade-in.

and the biggie...

Mystery Science Theater 300: The Movie - It must have been a trade-in. Light wear to the case, but the disc looks perfect. The person who traded it in must have had no idea that it was OOP. (Why take $5.00 in trade from Blockbuster when you can sell it for about 10 times that much on Ebay????)

Me, too, they must love me. They sometimes try to tell me to just bring it back if there's a problem, but I just like nice discs.

If you lived near me I'd guarantee you'd never find a scratched disc as I've cut off anything less than immaculate dvd trade in's at my store, I've helped people get out of there with Chronichles of Riddick Unrated w/ slipcover, In Living Color Season One and Oz Season One with the 3 for $25. I always slide the inserts underneath the artwork as well

Too bad my Blockbuster is only doing the 2 for $20 deal. And they must not be selling anything they didn't have as rentals because all the stuff on their shelves is PVD crap.

I have a $10 GC for them that I wish I could use for something, but I don't think I will be using right now.

My local BBV in H.Beach also started the sale... browsed a bit and didn't see anything new since my last visit. Snooped under their sale tables and ended up with:

Shrek 2
Van Helsing
Dawn of the Dead (2004) Unrated DC w/Slipcase

Stopped by the 2 in my area last night, used some of my credit from the $8 trade-in on:

Dawn of the Dead
2 copies of White Chicks
2 copies of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Cold Mountain
Hidalgo
Mean girls
Raising Helen
2 copies of the Star Wars Trilogy (sold individually, unfortunately... not as a box set).

By the way, if you see the Star Wars Trilogy in your area - if your store is like the one in my area that had it, the bonus materials disc is packed with Return of the Jedi. For some reason it wasn't in its own case.

Jackpot!

Went in to BBV today and picked up Buffy Season 5 and 6 and The Wire Season 1. Employee didn't think they were in the 3 for 25 deal. I told him to ring it up. He did and I walked out a happy customer. Gotta love Blockbuster sometimes.

Lucky for you (and apparently a lot of other people) that he didn't check. The ad at the Blockbuster near me has fine print that says boxed sets and regular titles that would normally sell for $19.95 or more are not part of the 2 for $20 or 3 for $25 deal.

Thanks to the OP!!

2 BBV's near me were both participating in this deal. One blockbuster had nothing, and they have a tendency to replace the original cases for trade-ins with those darn rental cases.

the 1st blockbuster I went to though, I managed to score some rather neat stuff for 25 bucks.

-Little Mermaid (Disney Limited Issue)
-Manhunter (2 Disc)
-Mrs. Doubtfire

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Ella Enchanted
Matchstick Men
3 Passion of Christ, as gifts.
I was looking for Terminal to get in place of Matchstick Men, but it wasn't on the Previously Viewed rack. I wasn't willing to get The Last Samuria there since Target has it for $10 every other week.

I just made my second round tonight. I think I hit the jackpot. I picked up Star Wars Episode IV,V, and VI. It included one bonus disc, but no inserts. All disc are scratch free. Is there anything I'm missing?

I remember about 2 years ago, I picked up all three Godfathers for 30 bucks. I don't think they were ever watched.

I found the best thing yet today. Picked up a pristine (only thing wrong is a couple knicks on the case and the discs look like they have never been played) My So Called Life Box Set for $50 with some remaining credit I had. The thing goes for nearly $200 on eBay.
