Wow usually the Westminster is the cheapest since they have Best Buy, CC, and CompUSA by them.

The past 3-4 weeks the Thornton WM did not have very good prices on new titles. That may have hurt sales so the manger could have said "WTF lower it!".

So, whats the story with Sears? Has anyone been into one of their B&M locations to see if it is $19.99?

I just got back from sears. They had it for $24.99. I didn't want to wait in line to see if I had to get something to push it over $25 to use the coupon, so I picked up something cheap, and used the $5 off coupon with no problem.

Nope, my Sears had it for $24.99 plus get this they pulled it from the floor! I asked for one and a clerk said "oh yeah we just put those in the back" and another clerk (aka nazi clerk) gave him an ice cold glare, anyway I said I'd like to buy one, so the "cool" clerk went in the back for a minute and came back with one and handed it to me and said "here you go" I asked how much they were selling it for he scanned it and it came up $24.99. At this point I told him I was going to price match it from Fry's for $20.99 so I handed him the ad from Sunday's LA Times he said no problem and that it was a good price, at this point the "nazi clerk" came over and boy was she PISSED! She said to the "cool" clerk you need a managers approval for that. He called the manager over and she (manager) swiped her card and walla I was on my way. Plus it automatically gave me an additional 10% off the difference, out the door with tax came to $22.29 not bad.

That's an outright lie. Try another clerk or another WalMart.

Doesn't surprise me. Ended up just heading to Fry's and was surprised to find that Fry's was quiet.

I checked with one Sears and they didn't have ROTK or I, Robot. However, I tried the other local Sears and they had both of those titles. I used the Sears coupon and while the clerk had to enter it by keyboard, they took it at 24.99. My final cost was 21.67.

I went to Sears today for the first time to buy some dvds. They had ROTK for $24.99 and this store also had pulled their copies from the floor and had them behind the counter. I priced matched the Fry's ad and got the EE set for $20.59. I was also going to buy Collateral and use the $5 off coupon but they didn't have any copies of Collateral. The clerk told me for some reason they did not get any copies in and that he would honor the $5 off coupon later on since I bought ROTK. I checked sears.com and it says that Collateral is $15.99 and a Web exclusive and that this item is not avaliable in Sears stores. Why?? Does sears not carry rated R films?

The Sears that I went to had Collateral, I-Robot, Princess Diaries 2, Mary Poppins, and the LOTR ROTK EE in-stock.

My local Wal-mart are idiots. They only ordered about one third the amount of ROTK EEs than they did for I,Robot or Collateral. They sold out within a couple hours today.

The display case was the "same size" as the I,Robot and Collateral cases but they FORGOT that the ROTK DVD was three times larger, thus fewer units. DUH!

OK, I went the Sears route with the $5 off $25 coupon that h8red linked on page 4. My local Sears had two copies of ROTK on a center aisle display. I took one to a cashier and asked if I needed to find another item since I was a penny short of $25. He said "Let's give it a try" and was able to get it to work.

So $19.99 + tax is a nice deal.

I got one at Sears for $19.99+tax. They didn't have any on display, but they had some in the back room. I didn't have to buy anything else in order to use the coupon.

Strangely enough the ROTK:EE was in the back storeroom at my local Sears, also. It was not out on display. While I was there, I observed that whenever someone wanted a copy, the clerk had to go to the storeroom to get the exact number of copies needed for the sale--she would not bring any extras out to put on display. Weird.

Anyway, pricematching came to $20.59 and then I pricematched "Mary Poppins" from Circuit City and then used my $5 off coupon. So, I ended up getting ROTK:EE for $18.09 and Mary Poppins for $15.29.

It almost sounds like Sears is going to be having a sale on this coming up and they want to try to preserve their stock.

Maybe they're aware of the price match, and are thinking if people don't see it, they'll leave, and they're only selling it to people that ask for it?

You have to remember, they're owned by Kmart now.

I preordered my LOTR RotK EE set from BN.com back in October for $27.98 - $10 coupon - Free Shipping = $17.98 shipped. It is scheduled to arrive at my door today. I believe that the coupon I used was valid for $10 of $25 or something and they had a promotion for free UPS shipping (even on preorders!). I figured $17.98 for the LOTR RotK EE set seemed like a great deal to me at the time and sounds like it still is...

Stopped by my local Sears yesterday, no copies to be found anywhere.

On a lark, stopped by today and found ten or so copies on the floor. They applied my $5 coupon without any questions.

Thanks, OP.

When I went to buy the Star Wars boxset, I tried pricematching a Fry's ad at Walmart. After much discussion, even with one cashier telling the other that she's personally done such a pricematch, they called the manager, who brought out a list of their competitors and told me that Fry's was not on the list.

Still, YMMV as to what cashier you get, as always.

Went buy the 2 Sears that are in the area, and neither one had gotten it. They said that had not recieved any copies of LOTR.
