Don't know if this is new, but they're now showing a $7 MIR for ROTK EE on coconuts.com, only valid from 11/1 on.

Bill, since they are the same as FYE.com this does not surprise me.

Go back and search for the old FYE.com threads and you'll see what I mean. In my case they actually had the nerve to change prices in my order after I placed it. They never refunded my money either.

They have the lowest prices, but they are a risk.

The proof of purchase is on the sheet of paper with the specs on the back of the package, no need to cut the box. Also, there is an offer inside to send off for the box for all three EEs, it's $3.

The rebate is only for preorders beginning on 11/1, so if you got in on the cheap price (in Oct) you will not recieve the rebate, most likely. I am not sure how inept the TWEC rebate people are, but it might be worth a stamp to give it a shot.

Have the 4disc dvd packets been sealed inside of the gift box package for the previous 2 releases?

Amazon is listing a ship date of Dec. 20th on mine -- why I dont know. I will need to 'explore other options'.

Does the sheet have the UPC on it? The rebate form requires the UPC, not the PoP tabs.

Is the box of good quality and how's the artwork on it?

The box looks like's it's green, sort of a paler color than the ROTK EE, no artwork other thank LORD OF THE RINGS and the individual movie titles on the side.

I just checked, the UPC is on the bottom of the box, so that does have to be cut.

Mine shipped from coconuts today as well. Neato. Not too worried about it taking a little longer to recieve, since i have The Ultimate Matrix set to work my way through.

It's crazy to expect people like us dvdtalkers to cut the UPC from the EE box!

How did people get away from cutting the UPC from their Star Wars box?

I didn't cut it and I'm still in a dispute with Coconuts about it. I sent them numerous (about 20) Emails telling them I either wanted a $15 credit for the rebate or to send my DVD's back and they kept sending me an automated response stating that someone would get in touch with me within 24 hours. This never happened. I finally called my CC company and told them to stop the transaction and dispute the charge which they're doing. Coconuts sucks. I'll never buy from them again.

Still got a good price through Coconuts for this movie. Screw the rebate, sounds like it is not worth the hassle. Plus I am not going to be cutting any thing from this dvd or any of the ones I own for that matter.

I don't want to get in the middle of something, but I just want to be clear. Are you saying that you purposely didn't follow the instructions on the rebate form, yet somehow it is their fault for not honoring the rebate? Hell, getting your rebate when you do follow the rules can be a crapshoot, lord help you if you don't.

lol what i'm wondering is whether or not he sent back the dvd after disputing the charges or is he getting his CC company to knock off $15... either way won't the CC company investigate it and find out something is amiss? I mean it is the end users fault for not wanting to cut the upc out..

technically, the retailer is in the right and would be able to provide proof that they honored their end of the contract.

Ppl think that they can always win with a chargeback investigation but that's not always the case. In the end, they are screwing the retailer cuz each chargeback investigation costs like $20 for the retailer.

Looks like Sears (Sunday, Dec 12th - Saturday, Dec 18th ad), of all places, has ROTK:EE for $19.99. It's says "Low Price" and is placed next to "Bourne Supremacy", "Spider-man 2" and "Manchurian Candidate", all listed at $19.99.

That would be a hot deal, especially there is a $5 off $25 coupon floating around that you can print online and use in the store

If Sears has it for $19.99 in-store, does anyone have a link to that $5 off $25 coupon? The only one I could find is a $5 off $35 coupon. Even if I had a $5 off $25 coupon, I'd still have to find something worth $5.01 in-store I wanted, and that is doubtful.

Hmmm...

Sears you say.
We'll all find out in two days.
