Or is the dvd one has to purchase to fulfill not limited to $19.95 titles or above?

Just an FYI.
Most of these titles are a part of the 3 for 25 deal too. What I had to do was purchase 2 at a time. I placed three orders with 2 DVDs each. Shipping is free, so it doesn't cost you extra to do this.
In case anybody wants to know, I purchased
Jimmy Neutron (gift)
Dave (gift)
Boondock Saints
Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
Galaxy Quest
The Last Emperor

Since it's a $9.95 annual fee and you obviously don't get a free DVD during each subsequent year, can you cancel your membership after 11 months and sign up again to get the free DVD with your yearly fee? Is there a limit on how many current or former accounts you can have at an address?

Actually. any title counts towards commitment including the $5.95 titles. Cheapest option would be ~$16 for 2 dvds.
(You have to go through the "go.columbiahouse.com" page to sign up with the HDX code.)
That all assumes there are two that you want from the initial signup offer. I guess it'd be helpful to have a full list of those titles.

The "HDX" code worked for a while when DV2 first started, but I believe it is a dead code now. I would love to be proved wrong, then I could test quiting the DV2 club and then see if they let me rejoin with the "HDX" code. I do know that I will quit the club before I have to pay the $9.95 annual access fee again just to stay a member of the club.

And yes, you can cancel as soon as you've made your obligatory 1-disc purchase.

It was too easy to get Citizen Kane and The Hobbit for about $8 and cancel before the 30 days was up. I guess that's why they pulled the code.

Well I certainly don't mind paying $9.95 per year. I end up saving far more than that and it is no different than paying to be a member of Costco or Sam's Club.

Why is it that I am being charged shipping on my order? I thought that there was free shipping on every order ... or so their website said when I was signing up. Do they only charge shipping if it is your first order?

Can I return items?
Yes. If you receive the wrong selection or an item that's been damaged in shipment, you can return it at our expense for either a replacement item or a credit to your account. You'll be able to request a postage-paid return label online, and we'll mail you a return label and instructions right away.

And the deal with these $5.95 titles - has anyone else noticed(didn't scan thread) that they show up as regular/ normal sale prices until you actually go checkout? It even matters in which order you put the titles (bottom/first to top/last) into your cart as to how the discount(s) applies itself.
I had 3 sets of 3-for-$25 in my cart, followed by a $19.95 title & then 10 of the $5.95 titles (about 5 of each - $14.95 & $19.95 - notmal price). When they wer put in this way, my cart totaled $149.45 (3*$25 + 19.95-5.00 + 10*5.95 = $75 + 14.95 + 59.50 = 149.45). When I removed the $19.95 title & re-applied it (putting it at the top), the total went up by about $14.
When I got it back to the right price, I also noticed that the "1st web order discount" was $10 instead of the normal $5 - at that point I didn't care so long as the total was right.
Needless to say, the cart/webdvd system does seem to work better in general - especially with firewall programs.

I just called DV2 customer service about the quantity limit for the same title, it turned out they do have a limit. I was told each title is limited 2 copies per account, may be 5 copies in the holiday season. Your membership will not be terminated if you exceed the limit but they will cancel the order.
The phone # is the same as the regular CH DVD club's. When I talked to this CSR, he seemed not to be very knowledgible. I don't think I would take all of his words for certain. If anybody knows more about the order limit, please let us know.
