I traded in: Porky's, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, The Princess Bride, Clerks, Shawshank Redemption, shaft, U-571, The Sixth Sense, The Fugative, The American President, Go, Goodfellas, Planet of the Apes (2001), and Scarface

I bought: Clerks X, the new Shawshank Redemption SE, and the new Goodfellas SE. I also got some used DVDs. I got The Royal Tenenbaums 2-disc Criterion DVD, Coffee and Cigarettes (thus completing my Jim Jarmusch collection), Punch-Drunk Love 2-disc that was still sealed but got for a used price, and Blue Velvet 2-disc.

And I got 7 bucks left.

Wow - great find if they weren't beat up. I spotted a Karate Kid, but it was scratched to hell. I have also formerly seen a Fantasia (not 2000) for $4.99 during the previous trade-in clearance, but it was also pretty scratched.

No, I checked before I purchased them, and they were in rather....perfect condition...

I lucked out...I didn't really care for the Fantasia, I just needed a filler for the 2 for 20.

Only reason I chose the Fantasia 2000 was because I figured it would be a bit harder to find than all of the other stuff out there.

been looking for this one. Can you tell if it was a trade in or a PVD? (Usually easier to pick off the back barcode sticker on the traded in ones)

I found a Mean Girls PVD dvd out early so that was pretty cool (cute little movie and cute little Lindsey).

I am also trying to spot City of God, but I highly doubt it will ever get to PVD.

The trade-ins have a "SEQ #xxxx" on the sticker on the back.

They have so few copies of City of God at most stores that when they do put one out, it will probably be gone in a flash.

I just ask the clerk if i could purchase a gift card with my value card and the person that was working said "Yes." So i went ahead and put about $150 on the card and use it to buy dvds online. On the back of the gift card, there are numbers with bar codes. On the top of the card there is a reload barcode and right under it there is another set of numbers with a barcode. I guess the other barcode is the account type, not sure. To be able to use the gift card online, the first four digit of the account barcode has to be 6016 or higher. ex: 6016 XXXX XXXX XXXX, (X) representing other numbers and underneath that, there is a scratch off 9 digit pin code that will allow you to buy from blockbuster website using the gift card. I hope that explains it more. Hard to explain but if you look at the back of the gift cards they have, you'll see what i'm talking about.

That whole SEQ thing sounds a lot easier to figure than to pick off the barcode sticker...

I have been going to three or four different BB's to see what they have in stock etc. I have only asked at one and they said no (but it was told to me by two teenage employees who couldn't even unlock the box set lock cases and had no idea how to check a price on their computer...) I am going to a different one tomorrow, maybe they'll let me...

Here's hoping cause what I want it cheaper online to buy than it would be to special order from them in person.

-----

also someone one here mentioned that you can buy gift cards with trade in balances on your account. Wonder if there is a way to transfer your value card money to your account if I can't get a 6016+ gift card from my value card (I also have a balance on a game rush card).

I'm thinking it was traded because there was pretty much a whole separate section of just recently acquired DVDs. Some weren't even in the normal BBV used dvd cases. Also the sticker came off very easily.

I was looking for City of God but they didn't have it. I would've picked up Mean Girl if I had found it.

I had a copy of The Dreamers in my hand, and as I was walking to the counter, I realized that it was the R rated version as opposed to the NC-17. Naturally I put it back.

I did the same thing. You should have seen my face when I spotted a copy of Ichi the Killer. Picked it up and started to look for other stuff. Thought to myself, *wait a minute* -- looked at the front and back, found that it was the R-rated version. DAMN!

There was a single copy of City of God, unfortunately, it was in REALLY bad shape, especially for a new copy. The case was severely cracked! A shame... I really wanted that one.

I lucked out and got that at a pawn shop for $4. Strange flick, even for Gilliam.

I called every BBV in Colorado Springs (~15), and finally found a PVD copy of City Of God. Wouldn't you know, with all the stores within a couple of miles of home and work, this lone copy was at a store about 12 miles away. I zipped down there, found something else to get 2/$20, traded in 2 old junkers for $16, and was out of there for around $5. NICE!

You're cuttin' that box, and as someone else remarked, this FYE controversy doesn't belong in this thread. This, being an authority from the source, is the last I'll say about it (in this thread).

Why are you talking to FYE when it is Parago who handles the rebates?

You don't listen so well - did you not hear Dabaomb say he has done around 200 of these??? You seem pretty resistant to people trying to help you.

I have only done about 5 myself, and the stickers have worked perfectly.

... not to derail the FYE discussion , BUT ...

I think we need a NEW THREAD for Blockbuster pre-orders, and the originator should update the main post with Prices and BBV Part Numbers.

Sorry if you don't think it is pertinent to the discussion at hand to clear up misinformation which might cause people to squander their credit overpaying at BB.

I traded in a bunch and got about $399, I've bought a bunch of movies including: Aladdin Gift Set, Christmas Classics (Rudolph, Frost, etc.), Treasures of the Twilight Zone, and then a bunch more Christmas DVDs (I've always wanted to build up a Christmas collection.

I'm going to buy the Van Helsing Ultimate Edition on Tuesday. I just received an XBOX as a gift, so I bought Soul Caliber II yesterday used and a DVD remote.

I'm hoping I can find a store that has the monster legacy DVDs if not, I'll have to special order them.

I just special ordered Elephant Parts, I really want to see that movie!

The Monkees. Please consider Badder Santa and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation as they are quickly becoming classice. At least in my little world.

GOOD NEWS! (for those who can't buy a gift card to use online with a value card/game rush card:

I went to a local blockbuster and traded in four more dvds for a total of $33.60 (with tax). Well I proceeded to ask if I could put my balance on my game rush and value cards onto one of the 6016 with pin number that I found in front of the checkouts. For some reason she thought I was only talking about the 33.60, well she said I could put that on your account and then you could buy one of those cards. I then reminded her of my two cards that I had.

She said she was not sure if I could put my balances of those two cards onto one of the 6016 gift cards. I then asked if I could put my balances on the game rush/value cards onto my account and buy one of the 6016 cards with that. She said she can try to. So she proceeded to put the 33.60 into my account and then she put the balances of my game rush card and my value card onto my account.

And with the three balances added onto my account, I put the entire balance onto one of the 6016 cards.

So now I can purchase stuff online.

----------

So if they say you cannot purchase one of the online gift cards with your value/game rush cards, tell them to put the balances of those cards onto your account and then buy one of the cards with your account balance.

And, of course, if you see something in the store you can use the card there too.

Thanks wcthai69 and everyone else for all ya'll's help.

Now I can get the stuff I want on line for about 8-10 cheaper including shipping.

----------

Now I have to figure out how to use the card on their website.

I did. My concern is that I want to keep the main post up to date. Just not sure if I have the time to do so. I'll do my best.
