Oh my god. I can't believe how obstinately stupid blockbuster employees can be... Management must treat them so poorly that they are in constant fear for their jobs or something. Today I tried to do the pre-order at my local BBV and the girl, probably a summer new-hire since I've never seen her at that store before, absolutely would not press F2. I must have stood there for 3 minutes arguing with her about pressing F2. I could not believe it. The store was empty other than another blue-shirt newbie, but no matter what I said she would not press F2. Kept telling me that they can only do pre-orders during 9-5 when their distributor (Ingram, right?) was open and that she had no idea what pressing F2 would do so she wouldn't even try it. I even said that if it didn't do the right thing, I'd be fine and wouldn't ask her to try anything more after that. It was ridiculous. She turned down $70 rather than press a single key on the computer (I had 4 PVDs I had just spent 20 minutes picking out of their rather overflowing, but overpriced compared to HWV, PVD section).
This was at the local corporate store where I have probably spent a couple grand over the years on PVDs. If they didn't have such a high turn-over they might have a chance of remembering me instead of blowing me off.

sctv 29.99
As of 5-26-04, I can order as many copies at $29.99 that I would like. If interested- contact me at [email protected] This is purely to open a few more US minds to the fact that they missed the best TV show ever produced. Will

Bad news, folks...
I JUST got off the phone with the manager of my local BB, who had left me a message at home. (I pre-ordered this 6 weks ago) Turns out the SCTV set is actually going to be $59.99, not $29.99! Obviously I'm going to get my pre-order refunded, but I thought ya'lls should know. Good in theory...

You should check out this thread if you have any questions on your rights to have this set at that price:

As an alternative to anyone that can't get in on this deal. Best Buy is giving a $20 digital coupon for buying the set from them. Not as cheap as $29.99 but zero hassle.

I had put a $25 (plus tax) deposit back when this was first posted, and today got a phone message saying it was in. When I went to pick it up, they asked me for another $5.36.
Thanks to calhoun07 and DVD Talk.

Is this an in-store price as well? In other words, is it on shelves in Blockbuster for this price? Anyone know?

But to slightly rephase your question: anyone bother to ask at Blockbuster what price is NOW (i.e., now that's officially released) showing in the computer if you order it?

I read on another forum that a guy went to Best Buy to price match it and the Blockbuster price was in their system, so that worked - and they didn't even have to call Blockbuster to verify. I am going to try this after work.
And if that doesn't work, then I'm going to special order it!

I thought a print ad was needed to price match.

Actually, I went to a couple of Blockbuster's on my lunch break (about an hour or 2 ago) and it *is* in the system for $29.99, but none of them in my area seem to have it in stock.

UPDATE - Went to Best Buy, as expected - they wouldn't price match without a circular or anything. Can't say I really blame them because it was $59.99 on sale and here I am trying to get it for half of that!
Then went to Blockbuster and special-ordered it. Since I'm no longer a member (haven't used the card in years, hence no longer in the system!), I had to pay in full - which I didn't mind. If I was a member, I could have left $5 as a deposit.
Hmmm.....ordering something and having it take 2-4 weeks for me to have it. Sounds like amazon! LOL
