No problem here but then again I didn't expect any since I know the managers. I am curious what they will say when I pick it up though.

I asked my girlfriend to give this a shot during her lunch break at the BBV near her job. Gave her the title and the item number that calhoun07 so graciously supplied.

Worked like a charm. BUT...he told her it would be in two weeks from tomorrow...

I was also curious to see what the price for the Flintstones would be [since SD was $26]. He told her he couldn't find it - which solidified my feelings about his misinformation regarding SCTV's release date..

Oh well. I just saved $30 for some great classic comedy. Thanks again calhoun07.

I went in. Talked to the staff. One of them decided to call their distributor to verify they could order it and was told it would be
$80.00 for the set. The employee said their price was wrong and
I agreed, since I didn't know what else to do.

And the FatWallet effect has started. I just got a call from the BlockBuster Video store where I pre-ordered SCTV last night and they said that the product hadn't fully downloaded into their system yet, so it had the default price of $29.99 instead of the correct price of $89.99. I told him that I did not want a refund as he offered, but I wanted the product for the price I paid for it. He said he would have the corporate office call me about it.

More info:

Corporate called me trying to weasle out of the pre-order saying that their cost was $54. I said it wasn't my fault the price was wrong in their system. She said she would have someone in legal or product call me back.

Even more info:

Same woman at corporate called me back about 15 minutes later and said that they would take care of the difference and apologized for the problem.

I notice our member Jobronie is keeping the FatWallet people well informed about our particular successes or lack thereof.

Yes, but you'll notice that I didn't bring the deal over to FW; merely relaying updates.

I have tho, in the past, brought a numer of deals from FW over here.....

I did notice that and appreciate it as those vultures kill anything good we get here. Although I don't think blow-by-blows of individuals' experiences should be carried over there. But that's a personal opinion.

I'd hate us to have to be like the FW people and have to drop everything and jump in the car at the first mention of a deal because thousands of people who only want to ebay the stuff gobble it up.

I don't think FW is gonna put too much strain on this deal. Way too many guys over there have no idea what SCTV even is; sure, a few do, but they're already over here anyway..............

You grab one of the Canons yet....?

I doubt quality is their concern if they're grabbing them for eBay.

I didn't get a chance to stop by Blockbuster so I guess I missed this one.

Luckily I ordered a copy from DigitalEyes w/a coupon from our DVD Bargain Forum. The cost for the disc is $40 after discount.

I was going to give a friend the cheaper one as a birthday gift. He loves the show, but can't justify the cost. The look on his face would have been priceless when I told him it came from Blockbuster. He boycotts that store in a major way.

I just tried to preorder SCTV at my BlockBuster and they told me they don't do special orders anymore. They think they're going away due to a decision from corporate.

This is the same one I preordered from last month.

Passed on the Star Trek Voyager pre order since I did not...well...let me just say I did not like it very much. But I had to take a shot with the SCTV crew. They took my order, and I paid in full. I am now waiting for a phone call.

Well, that ticks me off...some jack ass posting my information here as his own there. And this is going to kill the deal for others? This blows.

For those who prepaid in full, it is illegal for them to raise the price on you after the fact.

You paid for an item they were selling for $29.99 - for them to try to charge you more later is "bait and switch" and is illegal in every single state in the union.

They may try to cancel your orders anyway, but by holding firm as JWolff did they are likely to honour their original price rather than face legal action.
