Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
This cover got me to buy this as a back issue in the late 70's. I bought it at a used bookstore that had about 1,000 or so back issue comics for sale. Cheap. (I think fifty cents each or 3 for $1.00.) Decent issue, too.
Neal Adams cover - I had no idea who he was at the time, but about 3 years later I sure did!

Ginger's art there seems to anticipate anime and manga art styles about 3 decades in advance.

Not to mention having Meteor Man's balls (or meteors?) on his neck!

Wow, that All-Negro Comics cover strikes me as incredibly offensive.
On the other hand, that The Beyond cover is kind-of awesome.

Here is a Mad Magazine rip-off I have never even heard of or seen before. And it ran from 1960 to 1980 for a total of 134 issues. Weird that I have seen Crazy, Cracked and some others but never this one before. I was going to post some of the more interesting covers but they all seem to suck. Not very good artwork and/or not very interesting. Hard to believe it lasted 20 years!

). The only thing I remember about the mag is that it was a very sub-par imitation of Mad, I can't believe it lasted that long either.

Was the Three's Company parody in this issue? And calling him Mr. Groper is still funny even though the dude never wanted to have sex. Well, at least with his wife.

And damn, talk about a total rip-off of Alfred E. Neuman! They didn't even try to go a little outside the lines like Cracked and Crazy did with their mascots. Crazy's mascot was just plain strange to me as a kid and turned me off. Probably why I didn't buy as many issues of it as I did of Cracked. Mad was always king with me though. I had an Alfred E Neuman T-shirt based off of the old Panama Jack T-shirt craze as a kid and wore that thing everywhere. I was so proud of it because I never saw anyone else with one. I actually still have it somewhere in my attic.

Yes, nice research! That first one is the exact issue I had (or "have"? I might still have it stashed in a box somewhere). I forgot that it also included Soap, All in the Family and Star Trek parodies, but the memories are flooding back, looking at that cover. Now I need to look for that issue in one of my many boxes full of old magazines.
